There are so many "rules" to being healthy nowadays that it can turn people off from trying to improve their health. That said, here are the things I do that are NOT healthy.

My father's life has dramatically changed for the good because of your content. From 2 liters of coke and processed food all day to losing 60 pounds and only eating the cleanest meats and fruits he can get his hands on. I'm probably going to get an extra 10 years of enjoying my father's presence because of you. Thank you very much for being a vessel

My father-in-law lived to be 97. He was not a healthy eater and he drank beer daily. He was so happy 🎉so positive ❤he also loved people he danced. He’s socialized he did volunteer work. He went to church. I really think that is much bigger than what scientist are saying I think the happy part is huge in longevity

Your father-in-law also lived at a different time when things were cleaner and less complicated chemically. But that's awesome. It reminds me of a 96 year old relative of my husband, dancing with pretty darn good flexibility at someone's 50th wedding anniversary. I didn't perceive him as a particular health nut, But he lived in a place and time where food was pretty natural.

@@Radoslav-gk7wu - I don't know about their family, but I do know about mine because my old guy was family and we talk about how things used to be. What they ate. The poster was talking about someone from the same era and regardless of what he ate, whatever it was could not have been contaminated by things that were not invented or in widespread use during a big chunk of his life. I'm a nurse interested in nutrition so I have always directed conversations that way. Obviously in Mexico, which is where that part of my family is, there's an awesome and amazing array of produce, and corn is a big staple so they weren't short on carbs. But everything was cleaner back then. People didn't start suffering from gut issues until modern science got hold of things. My MIL had a course of antibiotics as a child and could barely digest things properly which led to her loving breakfast because eggs are pretty easy to digest. She was thin as a stick because she just didn't want to eat. I loved hearing about how she made a hair gel out of water and flax seeds to style her hair. About the uncle who raised honeybees/honey out in the country. When I was at her parents' house, and I made the American faux pas of traeating the maid like a human being to be greeted and conversed with, she singled me out for her favorite treats bringing me things like tea made from lime leaves from the garden, which was delicious. They also got a lot more sun and lived a life much more in tune with the circadian rhythm. The weather is great down there, no need for shutting your doors and windows. Except for being careful about raw meat down there, it is so healthy or it used to be, even 40 years ago. These days, we have rampant dementia and Parkinson's and cancer and Heart disease… People recovering from these things using a carnivore diet. We have rampant issues with the gut Microbiome between antibiotics in our water and in our food supply in addition to getting it from our doctors. We have genetically modified produce that our bodies can't quite figure out, and even organic produce now has glyphosate in it, Another gut destroyer. Not to mention things like Tylenol which is a routine Med for many people. Also a gut destroyer. Those things went around back in the day, and people were healthier for it. Now that they are, now that it's hard to get decent produce, people need to figure out other solutions.

I appreciate your candid openness in this video. And the bonus: I don't mind the occasional cuss word from someone, but i sincerely thank you for not throwing out the GD words. ❤ You're a beautiful soul that i wish lived closer to me. You're the type of friend i need in my life. ❤ PS = I'm down from 430 lbs - to - 165 lbs, with many thanks to you and your videos!! You've taught me that it's okay to change or adjust my diet along the way to suit my needs. What worked for me at 400lbs is not what works now. I think life is all about adjustments. Aww, Lillie, thank you for not being like all the other channels who cuss! I can’t get over how this is now commonplace in public, and I feel like it’s a lowering of our standards and respect as a society to be cussing in public and will only hurt us. I’m mid 40s, and cussing in public has been considered a no no for most of my life. I do, on rare occasion, sometimes cuss too (or to be funny around my siblings, LOL), but it’s definitely not a part of my normal, everyday speech, and I would never do it in public! You are such a beautiful example and light in this world!! I just love you!! 🥰

@@Mwilke3789 - I get it. And there is something absolutely delicious about the combination of peanut butter and jelly. I completely understand that. Kids will eat that in a heartbeat, and honestly if I was offered that I would probably just do it because of childhood memories of eating like that. When you get a little energy, you can start creating childhood memories of eating healthy food for your kids so they don't keep repeating poor choices. And you can do it for yourself. Honestly, as I get older I find I absolutely have to be mindful of my diet because otherwise I'm just useless. Tired, stiff, in pain, not as balanced as I used to be so safety is a big deal. Whereas if I am pretty strict on The carnivore choices that I know make me feel the best, the tiredness goes away, I become more flexible, more balanced, everything is better. And you notice that I didn't say I had to be perfect on that diet either. I just have to be "pretty strict." That means other foods happen sometimes. Delicious ones. I just have to be mindful of the slippery slope. Going to far. Because I've done that and landed myself back into being exhausted, stiff, in pain, all of it. And by the way, this stranger is proud of you for just taking a nap when you're tired!

@@johnp7739 It's not the sugar specifically. Back in the day (50's and earlier) we actually used to eat more sugar than today but were healthier in every possible way. Everything is "zero sugar/alternatives" today anyway, ppl avoid it like the plague. I don't see anyone getting super healthy when they "quit sugar". There are so many problems with what's in our "food" and the environment we live today, our medical system/interventions from birth. Sugar itself isn't really a big problem and avoiding it to the extreme will just make your life harder. It's just pure energy. It's far more complex then sugar bad, but I would be here for a while trying to list all the things which currently ruin our health.

This is a very powerful message. The 80/20 is doable, and as you mentioned, the stress of attaining 'perfection', (which we all know is unattainable) causes more issues than the limited 'unhealthy' stuff that our unstressed body can manage. IE, all those 80 year olds that wouldn't know an organic sheet from a regular cotton one they've used their entire life. Excellent reminder for us all to work on the things we can change, and release some of the pressure (I've actually stopped some youtubers because if I did everything they recommended, I couldn't hold down a job!) :)

I love the carnivore diet for helping me with my stress level and my anxiety, plus the many physical benefits. People do try and say well you’re not perfect. I’m just doing the best I can and trying to challenge myself to be better today than I was yesterday. I’ve been carnivore six years next month. I have fallen off the wagon several times my numbers aren’t always perfect. It’s getting easier. I feel amazing. I’m 62 next month. I practice jujutsu and Kickboxing with 20 + age group, i’m the smallest one in class and keep showing up. Sometimes up to three hours a day I love feeling healthy . Some doctors want me on statins I’m going by how I feel.. I know all I can do is be an example. Thank you for your content and being so real .

There is an awesome variety of breathing techniques that help move the lymphatic system, perfect when your body is not at a place when it wants to move yet! You can Google/look on KZbin for body flex, life lift, oxycise. Even doing a little stretching stretch while doing the breathing technique can be helpful. And I can help get you aerobically ready for when you are ready to get those arms and legs going! End it really gets that oxygen to the brain for that awake and alert feeling!

Lillie you probably have a wee bit of Virgo in your chart. And I love it, you value results, knowledge, regemin, order, health, daily-do's, connection, community, self-expression. And virgos will worry themselves to death before they'd let others down. You're great, keep going.❤

I love this! This is exactly why we focus on mindful eating and living and simply making progress. I 💁🏻‍♀️ used to get so stressed watching my husband or other people as if I was myself perfect but also perfection is what caused us to stay away from diets. So we ditched them. I love love love your content and how you have progressed into what is good for you. ❤

I think people fail to recognize that we all truly are terminal That doesn’t give us permission to not care But eternity and the health of our souls matters a lot more in the long run.

Nobody is perfect Lillie so you don't have to worry about that. Your advice is very wise and helpful. I just removed myself from a very toxic environment and I started the ketogenic diet like a month and a half ago and I'm planning to introduce healthy carbs into my life thanks to watching your videos and learning plus my own personal experiences now I know what carbs I should consume and which carbs I have to stay away from. Thank you for all the information Lillie.

I'm also a dirty blonde but I lighten my hair with a paste of baking soda and hydro peroxide for 15-30 minutes. It strips the hair but I have to be careful not to burn it! But I love the way it turns out! It's a golden blonde, not ashy. Some would say it's brassy but I don't care, I like it better than mousy.
