@Allison Marie A human's instinct to care for little ones is the most precious of all. The comment was about a couple where the man wanted a child and the woman appeared indifferent, which was a point of conflict. Bringing a pet into such a relationship can draw attention away from the unresolved conflict. The innocent pet is valued more for what it represents rather than its intrinsic nature, a loss for both the pet and the owners. I made no comment, direct nor implied, about people who cannot have children. My guess is that you know your beloved pug does not fill your desire for a child, not completely. Coming to peace about being unable to conceive is a heroine's journey.

I used to work at a grooming salon as an assistant/bather for a few years and this was a common thing with most new clients that bought long haired toy breeds. They claim the dog hates brushing but they most likely tried after the dog’s hair started matting, causing the puppy to scream and the owners to give up on brushing, believing that they’re hurting the puppy. These type of owners usually requested the longest haircut possible and would be upset when we would hit them with reality by telling them the only option was a complete shave down, then training them on brushing and how to use the comb, and to come in every 6-8 weeks for at least a trim if not a full groom. It is sad to see this puppy having to experience this due to the owner’s ignorance. Grooming should be painless and positive for little babies...

He's so scared of those clippers and his useless owners couldn't even be bothered to groom him or at the very least, inform themselves on HOW to groom him. I have three dogs, a schnauzer poodle cross, a rescue mutt and a basset hound. Before I even bought my Schnauzer X Poodle I took a dog grooming course. I was 19 at the time and even I had the common sense to educate myself on proper grooming before purchasing my boy. As a result, all of my dogs are groomed daily, clipped every 6 weeks and have their nails done by me. They're not scared or snappy of brushes, and they handle clippers like a dream. My schnauzer actually enjoys the clippers on him and will sit patiently on his table while I groom him. People really need to start educating themselves on high maintenance breeds before buying them!

I’m a dog bather and when I wash matted dogs drying them with the blower helps to move the matts away from the dogs skin and then the groomer can get under them to brush them out without having to pull too hard. If the dog is severely matted (like this one) the groomers shave them first and then wash them.

I cried for this little pup. That hurt so bad and now he has had such a negative expearence be caused he was not brushed and not gotten in sooner. It will take a long time to erase this . Dede you tried so hard to make this the best you could I know you hurt for him to.

Honestly, this little baby is so good, letting you do what you did. I’ve had puppies who wont even let you touch them with the clipper because they aren’t used to it. And he was pretty good for the first time. Poor guy

Dede, totally agree with you on getting that boy some training! These isn't anything much worse than an untrained, out of control dog. I have a Yorkie and you have to let them you that they are not the boss of the house. I am proud that my dog is a good citizen and continually surprises people with her positive behaviors.

Poor pup looks like a result of dog clothes and not brushing and leaving the little shirt or whatever on all the time
@ashleymo7936 жыл бұрын
I think if someone uses shirts but brushes properly it's okay but not brushing is why that poor pup had such a bad experience.

Just read that you're a veteran... Thank you for your service! Discovered your y-tube site a couple of days ago, and as a dog-lover, I'm hooked. I adopt greyhounds that are rescued off the track. As a greyhound dog sitter, my home is full of couch potatoes. I loved my spaniels back in the day, but realized that they needed so much extra care. I used to hand-clip my cocker... and hold down a full-time job. She (Selah) and our Springer (Ariel) lived long healthy lives. Hubby and I were ready to adopt a Maltese, but something interesting happened... thank God. The Maltese breeder was not at home that day. We passed by a 3-acre ranch with running, playing greys. We thought let's check this out (Acton, CA). The first thing we thought was... why are they so skinny? We spent the entire day there and learned and learned and learned. We fell in love with one particularly shy, small racer. Her name was Pagosa. That was a Saturday and we adopted her on Monday. She came out of her shell and was the silliest, most fun critter... she passed at a fine old age and we never looked back. Just wanted to share a loving dog story. If I may say, the track dogs do need homes.

If their fur is a long enough length to get knots, and they're not brushed out, matting can happen very quickly.

This is a painful video to watch--wonder if these people have a brain between the girl and the guy!! They are so bad to not taking care of the dog--they have never taken him out on a lease for a walk yet!!! I am shocked---what do they think Prince is?? A toy to pet when you feel like it??? Shame on them! I hope you told them this!!

It’s criminal to let this precious little animal get in this state. His owner should be ashamed and give him to someone capable of providing the love and care he needs. You are a blessing to so many. Thanks for sharing cases like this so people can see why grooming regularly is so important for the health and wellbeing of pets.

The dogs owners need more training then their dog. I wonder if the dog has been seen by a vet. Poor little guy.
@Ctruong883 жыл бұрын
DeeDee Doesn't take unvaccinated pets. Most groomers wont. Usually vet administers Vaccines. Deedee says in the beginning of the video that he was vaccinated. Parvo is so ramped that most puppies would not make it to 6 months without vaccines.

I am so upset and actually cried watching this poor Yorkie wiggle and cry. I had Afghans decades ago not thinking about how much care they would need. I was young then, and stupid. Now I have a short haired Chihuahua. Pinky doesn't need much grooming but she hates her nails getting clipped. It has to be done, so I get it done twice a month....by me, the mama. My Pinky was rescued from a kill room after her owner died. I'm blessed to have my fur baby and give her a forever home.

Watching this video my 5 year old yorkie and my 7 year old German shepherd mix came flying into the room and wanted to love up on this baby. 😥 I was given my yorkie by a breeder that wanted a tea cup but Toby out grew that by 6 months. He is about 10 pounds. Fully papered and intact. I had to learn to bathe, trim, and clip him. I always had short hair dogs or Border Collies. They just have to be educated or educate themselves. Love seeing a groomer that is willing to take on the hard cases that everyone else finds irredeemable. Bless you and your hard work. ❤

I sure hope those owners weren't mad about getting a shave-down. There wasn't any option! Now they have a chance to start again with brushing EVERY DAY as it grows out and training him to love brushing time.
@isabellathomas13146 жыл бұрын
BitterTeeth ik, that was a huge step to getting this lil boy all situated. But, they were neglecting the fact that yorkies are a high maintenance breed. Brushing is a must, and if they don't like it, at least train the dog to tolerate it. I have a Maltese and he doesn't like getting baths, being blow dried along with brushing, but he knows the easier he is, the faster the process will be

"the dog doesn't let us brush". No, the owners are just too scared or too lazy to gently train the dog. If the owners won't get a grip now and work hard training the pup, they got a lifelong ahead with matted, miserable and and possibly aggressive dog.

A lot of pet parents also put "cute little sweaters" on their pups & leave them on for days, worse thing one can do. Since he's a puppy, no matter Prince won't let me brush him, foo foo, better teach him about brushing while he's young or it'll get worse.

People need to do more research before getting a pet, this is a puppy and has horrible Matts already. Puppies can be trained through positive reinforcement, hopefully the pet parent will learn from this and do better.

My Persian cat came to me as a rescue aged 13. He was just a solid Matt of fur, and I shaved him down. He loved it! Every morning he would sit at my feet,look at me then the box where I kept his brushes etc ,then back at me until I got them out and then he would sit on the sofa with me for a good brushing. They hate being matted. .He was 23 when he died.

We have a now 1 yr old shih Tzu boy, before I even considered getting a shih Tzu for our family, I did a TON of research on the upkeep of his hair, teeth, tear stains, bath etc. We got him at what we thought was 8 weeks, but the breeder lied and he was actually 4 weeks! Well I started grooming him that young, and I used all the tips from watching your videos! Ever since he was a little pup he falls asleep with the clippers (I use it to clean his sanitary area, paws, and a bit off the mouth area because OMG he’s a pig!) only thing he hates is the blow drier, but I think I just need to invest in a better one! Brushing is literally his fave! It’s all thanks to your videos! It’s really sad that this little guy behaves like that, it’s even more sad that people jump into a certain breed just because “they’re so cute” I hope he’s doing better! If you have anymore grooming videos with him I’d love to see them!
