What makes this worse, is that most of these bots say “#SaveTF2” when their the reason it’s dying in the first place

I can see what they're doing. On one hand, a single botnet's entire purpose may be to stir up hate and controversy and make a mockery of Valve ignoring the bot issue to force them into taking action and actually monitoring the VAC system. On the other hand, there may be smaller more niche botnets who's doing it for personal gratification. I see the surge in bot activity as a positive, yet at the same time I launch TF2 to play TF2, so I condemn it to high hell.

I think it just bot hosters trying to discredit Fixtf2 movement by making these savetf2 bots, like "look these savetf2 guys are making bots therefore they are BAD" which is really pathetic from their side.

the unfortunate thing about this is that the bot makers have more than enough freetime on their hands that if valve has to make a PR move again, they will likely cost valve so much money they might just consider shutting down the live servers and making private servers the game's focus. Because I mean. Every small attempt Valve has made to hinder or limit the bot maker's ability to easily make the bots has led to the bot makers within a short time period getting around these preset defenses. Valve has likely looked at this potential situation and knows full well that fighting the bot makers will cost them alot more money setting up defenses to watch for bots over and over again. Because afterall. The bot makers just look at every attempt to stop them as a challenge from valve against their 'skills' that they have to overcome.

I understand that, however, from the way it looks valve hasn't attempted to do anything about the bots at all. If valve were to shut down live servers I believe that would cause so much back lash they would be forced to reinstate them. We can't stand idle doing nothing because then nothing happens, if we fight for change then it is better to do so then to expect change from nothing. Valve needs to try to get systems in place that detects cheat or else this game will die from it. No matter how hard it is, it needs to be done.

@@KadesShow642 I mean i'm all for this of course. I'm just looking at it from a logical standpoint as to why Valve will likely not do anything about it until it threatens their public image/investors again. There were more than a few micro attempts to stall or hinder the bots before, such as requiring purchasing items to use voicechat for instance as well as a few other smaller attempts to impliment methods to detect the bots with anticheat alterations. and then openly trying to get the community to feverishly report the bots, wich the bot makers of course then started using against the players at the same time. The PR nightmare that happened when #SaveTF2 suddenly started getting openly talked about by news outlets out loud was enough for valve to be willing to put money into implimenting a more expensive alternative. Wich they took a bit of time to look into and as gabe said he felt it would work pretty good. Inevitably it did. for about a week actually. but of course, the botters having all the freetime in the world, they had plenty of methods and alternate accounts they could keep spamming about, testing what little tweaks they could make to alter it until eventually it got past the anticheat again. Concidering the funds used to impliment this more expensive anticheat was bypassed within a week. I'm pretty certain thats why valve has not wanted to put more money into it. I see this going one of 3 ways. 1) Valve will address the issue, possibly attempt another effort if the voices are loud enough to avoid another PR disaster, though they know this will only be temporary and will likely cost them thousands due to the bot makers having more time on their hands and less to lose at failed attempts to get past it. 2) Valve will adress the situation to the community and request finacial aid with proof of the costs to impliment in order to keep the anticheat persistant. or 3) They impliment methods that make the game more into the community's hands, they have already partially done this with community events such as the Saxton hale gamemode. By removing live servers and making the game's coding more intertwined with private servers so that joining games connects you to those servers instead of live ones. bots inevitably get removed and shut down by the server admins and personal anticheats that are so random and spirratic that the bot makers would have to put in more time than they'd feel necessary or desire to do to try and overtake all these minor obstacles every single day in and out. There is afterall a reason that the bots are only on valve's servers. it is uniform, it is all the same server and system protection, the variations and variables are so similar that the bots can just hop from one server to another. and the bot makers only have to focus on getting past one type of firewall every time the firewall tries to adapt. It is the most cost effecient method, the community proves it's point on how dedicated they are in keeping the game alive. and Valve wouldn't have to do much really or spend thousands every few weeks to keep the bots at bay. I certainly hope that Valve pulls a rabbit out of the hat though and can find a way to fix it. but... They seem more focused on other projects right now. TF2 is still making profits despite the bot issues, the game is many years old as it is. Its the community that will have to force valve to focus back on the game. Not because valve would be afraid of TF2 nolonger providing a profit, but because the mass of the community that buys games from their steam store could suddenly start not using steam, and valve would actually be at a financial risk to not do anything. Edit: The real thing though that will Deffinately Catch valve and News outlet's attentions though are the fact these bots are actively doing illegal things beyond just trying to interrupt the gameflow. They are Using Valve's software as a front for their actions. The moment that gets on the news. Is the moment Valve has to actively do something, or request assistance from the law itself to investigate.

My brain is currently mush, so I'm going to say about your edited point. If we are able to get that information known, then they will have to do something about this as you said it is illegal. If that is what it takes for them to fix this issue, then so be it because they should have been aware of this already and if they are and haven't done anything, then they will pay.

@warprifter8772 4 ай бұрын
@@brandonh3287 Some aren't. some are. but at the same time this could be people living off of inherited funds, they could have alternative means to get this money, there may be multiple people working on one bot program. They have their own discord server where they actively willingly teach people how to bot for free. all that stuff. Forget the youtuber's name but they managed to interview the omegatronic bot hoster. Not that everything that was said to them in the interview wasn't just lies of course. but the server the bot hosters are in is well, rather as one assumed. Filled with pedophiles and racist folks up the wazoo. didn't really suprise me honestly. Funnily enough the bot hoster says they hate bots. mostly because bots owned by other people don't know they are fighting other bots and take eachother out, or interrupt the bots ability to leave a server as they think there are still people in that server because other bots are there. This in turn means he has a limited number of bots active at any given time considering he'd get agitated at them being stuck in servers with other bots.

Valve has the ability to fix this easily. They are choosing not to. Keep putting this problem on them until we get an actual fix. One tweet should NOT appease the people that still want to play this game.
