I was a little ahead of you on this one regarding that I knew the Amazon Ethernet adapter was limited to 100mbs. I'm glad that you ran this test, and the video was very beneficial to others. I don't know why Amazon doesn't come out with a faster adapter. Now the comment below me makes sense as well regarding the size of cables etc. Even my Samsung smart tv's ethernet port is limited to 100mbs. Somebody needs to come out with something to accommodate those of us with faster speeds.

Its because the adapter is only 100mbps and cos is micro usb u can only get a max of about 400 mbps on other adapters

Yeah..USB 2.0 maxes out at 480 Mbits. A gigabit adapter won't give full gigabit speeds ever. The USB 2.0 architecure is the bottle neck.

I have mine hooked up via ethernet using the same adapter and I quickly learned that it was only 100Mbps. I have some choice words for Amazon for such a dumbed down product.

buy ugreen. 3 USB ports, one Ethernet port. Look at the specs and video your results.

The main reason for the slower speeds is the cable size. Compare the size of the ethernet cable to the size of the adapters cable. It's likely bottlenecking. Even if you do get one that was designed to be faster, it will never reach the maximum speed for this very reason. If you need additional support for ethernet and USB, I would recommend just getting the FireCube with those ports directly built into them for best performance.

@@VidTubeWatch I recommend NVIDIA Shield Pro if you can afford it. It's a stellar performing media player. The FireStick devices just have too many glitches for me to invest in. I got tired of trying to perform constant patches and tweaks everytime the firmware/software got updated. I've had my best experience with the NVIDIA Shield Pro. The price was well worth it.

This is wrong information. The speed issue is because the adapter relies on the bandwidth of the USB bus speed. It has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the cables or wires. Furthermore... USB 2.0 peak bandwidth is 480 Mb/s ... so in lay terms.. even if you try a gigabit usb adapter, you won't ever get anything higher than 480 Mb/s speeds.
