My grandfather and uncle trash picked a steel I-beam they saw in a dumpster about 40 years ago. It sat in his back yard for decades. A few years back he was building an addition onto their house, and the structural engineer called for something that could take load over a wide span. He was finally able to make use of it.

This is what I did Remove the blade and blade adapter with a puller. How to use a 4-ton puller Put the bolts out of the center replace that bolt. With a 6-in quarter inch drive ratchet extender Put the tip of the puller against the other end. And then used a hand wrench to turn the pullers not until the blade adapter comes off. Then use the puller to take the pulley off but it's on there with a Allen head bolt. Once all that's off you have to Purchase the lower seal to the sump because I can use a smaller oxi acetylene torch to heat the end red. Once done then use an old socket to go over the crank end with a 5 foot pipe to bend it back. Obviously check it with a straight edge mechanics ruler Then purchase a new blade adapter, that one will not be straight ever again. Use a small diameter pipe over crank to install the new power seal

IMO... bent crank = parts mower. Especially if it's an expensive crank. If you can manage to get the blade adapter and pulley off, Steve (from Steve's Small Engine Saloon) has a video on straightening cranks. His method is not perfect, but it might be good enough.

If a mower with a bent crank isn't run long, then the lower seal isn't likely to be compromised or leaking badly. If it's not leaking, it can be straightened. Donyboy has a method and Taryl has one, too. I've used them both and prefer Taryl's....and have used it successfully numerous times. It will work on this situation.

Judging by the wear on the tires this thing has a lot of hours on it. I might fix it if it was mine and I really liked the mower, however I’m not sure it’s worth fixing. I say not sure because Honda isn’t making mowers anymore, the newer residential grade mowers are worse quality, and some people (especially older folks) don’t want to change to a different mower. It’s been my experience that older folks don’t want to have to learn to use a new item. Even something as simple as a different push mower with a different drive control or even a different grass bag attachment system. In fact my mom is this way and I’ve spent several times the cost of a new mower in parts to rebuild her beloved POS riding mower more then once. I’ve spent enough in parts of that thing to buy a new zero turn!

I would keep hitting the crankshaft with a sledgehammer as someone has done on here with a Briggs and Stratton engine & has succeeded in straightening the crankshaft. Those pulleys get rusted onto the shaft & it took me about 6 hours to remove the blade boss on my dads lawnmower engine last December when I rebuilt the engine. That's because I heated it up with propane gas which wasn't Hot enough & I ran out of it so I persevered with an electric heat gun after soaking it in diesel overnight. It did come off little by little because it was rusted in the shaft after 20 years of mowing with it,I cleaned the rust off the shaft & out of the blade boss adaptor as well as cleaning the key up on the shaft,I applied anti seize compound onto the shaft & inside of the blade boss prior to reinstalling it back onto the shaft. An oxy acetylene torch is what you need to heat up the blade boss adaptor to remove it from the shaft !

Given that Honda is no longer making mowers in this country, are you sure you couldn't get it fixed and get a good price? The honda mowers around here are selling for over $650 for the push mowers. Even "basic" gas mowers are selling for an exorbitant amount of money. Don't forget that winter is coming and if you have a shop that would be a fantastic winter project. On the other hand there is nothing wrong with a parts machine, and if you happen to get ahold of a good honda engine you have a pretty nice deck.

sure, when it happens next time, try putting some fuel into the carb's throat, give it full throttle and try starting it. If it starts, then it's a carb issue despite it being new. If it doesn't start then the engine might be flooded, which could also point to a carb problem. Also did you check the bolts and gasket on the plastic insulator between it and the engine?
