My first thought was that it would be a great coastguard backup torch, lots of options for night searches.; basically for anyone who has reason to be searching at night/in dark places, rescue being the obvious one,. I remember yachting once and practicing the Man overboard drill, surely a great option to pinpoint someone in the water in the dark with turbo and then track then on high till the boat can manoeuvre for rescue

I work security and there is no better defence/offence than a strong flashlight. You don't even have to do it "on purpose." Sometimes when I'm having a heated discussion with a difficult individual (usually drunk) I will casually sweep my 1,200 lumen light past their face, usually at night, and they settle down quickly.

Maybe the intention of machining the battery separator out of aluminum is also to act as a heat sink for the batteries ? Cuz I’ve noticed that high drain 18650s used for vape devices get pretty warm when in use 🤨🤨

Another great review Jon. I remember my first LED torch a LED Lenser P7 bought 11 years ago and that was 200 lumen. Interesting to see the technology evolve so rapidly. Imalent do a 100000 lumen torch but it's over £500 which is a little out of my price range for a flashlight this looks more reasonable for the money.

The turbo mode can be super useful as a self defense tool at night without the need for a pepper spray or similar. If someone attacks you, quickly turning on turbo will blind them for a few seconds giving at opportunity to get away. If that doesn’t work you can use it as a brick 🤷🏼‍♂️

The price is already going up since you shot this, you saw a price of $150 US, but your link to Amazon already has it at $199.95 (not a criticism of you, this is a great video). And yes, I want one! I am curious about the batteries, as we know the high discharge wears them out so I wonder how hard it is to get replacements that satisfy the Turbo circuits. I assume I'd just try to locate a reliable source for that model of battery but I don't know much about that - is that a standard and widely available battery? I'll have to dig around to see if I can find out.

Great review again Jon, what a piece of kit! I agree about the size and weight - I rarely use a similar sized torch because it gets really heavy after a while. 4000 lumens that fits it my jeans pocket is enough for me. It's a true posers' light. 25k Lumen for 1 minute then stepdown because of heat problems. Flashlights this size (beercan size it's what they're called) can't handle more then 2k lumen for a substantial period of time. Also flashlights as thick as this one are very uncomfortable to hold for a prolonged period.

Nowhere near tactical enough for urban streets. Too big and cumbersome to access quickly. Finding the side-button in a hurry would be a further hinderance. Then you would have to press it 8 times to go from lock-out to strobe. All in a stress situation. It might be useful if you already have it shining and in your hand at a lower setting say dog-walking across a common or in a rural setting. The flood could also momentarily light-up the sorrounds revealing anyone lurking in the shadows.

I saw no beam focus to allow wide illumination or narrow long range spotlight ability. The light needs a more extensive review. The best feature of longtime favorites MAG LIGHTs is the ability to narrow the beam and illuminate a greater distance. This isn't exaggerated all that much. The tests of MS06 I've seen tend to show around 10% deviation of the claimed outputs, with the exception of Turbo, which came to around 21-22k lm at turn on. However, excessive light levels like this tend to be tricky to measure, since many light meters are simply overwhelmed, and you end up having to make estimations. From personal experience I can tell you that the difference between 21000 and 25000 lumens will be negligible to your eye. My Acebeam X80 has two turbo modes of 11k lumens and 25k lumens and switching between them feels kind of underwhelming, since they are both already in the ridiculous light level territory.

I hope it's 25,000 lumens. Half the Lumen claims on Amazon are BS. I ride a bike but have very poor night vision. I need a Lot of lumens. How long does it last? I need an hour for bike riding. They should have made it bike-mountable. That's the best use for it, IMHO.

The problem is that the world is flooded with millions of cheap flashlights. Every company makes a flashlight and 99.99% are bogus products. Reviews for this one don’t look good. I’m not going to plop down $200 -$700 for a flashlight that lasts only a few short months.

Who is it for? For the people who use torches disrespectfully. They flood the eyes with light in the dark street like they were SS man. The second option is for the stupid disrespectful drivers who pull up their cars in the night with the modern bright light and dont give a dumb about pedestrians. Keep the lights constantly on. Looking forward to ping-pong the light back in the 25 000 lumens - like the main character sent back sound in the Mask movie. There is only one way to give bloody egosits a lesson. ...... BBC pâtes program in 60s was teaching people on how to drive in a descent manner a car. I tbink tbey should make a remake of tbis program. They could include so many new things. Like the use of indicators to make other drivers and pedestrians safer, comfortable and safe their time. Actually save everybody times by making smooth flow of the general trafic.

Remarks about strobe at 12:20 ... Would strobe mode run indefinitely without stepping down❔Because strobe is flashing on/off it should use only half the power. ❔

Well most 1000 lumen lights start heating up in 10 minutes at full power. Not enough heat sink. So that small and that powerful im guessing the heat would be unbearable. Unless it has fans.

Mmm. Engineer here. Up to 35 amps per battery requires top notch connections to the battery to avoid contact resistance power loss and potential loss of voltage to the LEDs. This design looks like low current spring contacts. Should be much better than this. Maths: just 5 milliohms per battery connection means close to 20 watts power loss. On max it's a brilliant light but also a heater. It would be interesting to see how hot the LEDs get.
@JonGadget

They get hot quickly! and then the output drops as mentioned to avoid over heat - next model up has two fans built in! Interesting to see your comment on the impact of even a tiny bit of resistance.

@@JonGadget I was going to mention that fans might be an idea to look at. Thermal management of LEDs can be quite 'tricky'.

Inflated lumens are an advertising gimmick. Turbo is totally useless and high power also heats up the flashlight quickly, so it is also nearly useless.

I bought the flashlight, it's really great when it works properly. Unfortunately, the processing is not the same as the light output. The service is also underground. I will probably have to live with a defective product because the request for warranty service will be ignored.
