This hits home for me. I'll never forget holding my 6-year-old daughter in my arms walking from our neighbor's house on a snowy night. We had such a good time that night that we were being silly chasing each other and laughing. As we were approaching the house I picked her up and carried her, and as we turned into the driveway I hit the only small patch of ice and my feet completely flew out from under me. The side that I was holding her is the direction we fell, and I couldn't react or twist good enough to prevent her head from bouncing off the concrete. I watched as it happened and I'll never forget that colder than cold chill and shock that flashed through my body. It knocked her unconscious for a moment and when she came to she was crying. I freaked out and tried to rush her inside. My hands were shaking so bad I couldn't get my key in the door and out of frustration I kicked it open and took her in the bathroom to examine her head. No blood but I could tell something was wrong, especially after she threw up. My worst fear was confirmed when we arrived at the hospital and the cat scan revealed a brain bleed. My heart sank so bad I felt like I couldn't breathe. How could this happen I thought? I'm her dad and it's my ultimate responsibility to protect her from anything, and yet even with her in my arms, I couldn't save her. It was my fault. I should have seen the ice, my reflexes should have been sharper, I should have been more careful, I should have been prepared, and yet I wasn't. And because of me, my daughter was stuck in a small town hospital needing to be life-flighted to a city 3 hours away and couldn't because of the snowstorm. Eventually, everything turned out okay, but I'll never forget how badly I wished it could be me instead, how helpless I felt to do anything, and worst of all that it was me, not someone else watching her, but that it was ME that failed her. She survived, got the surgery she needed and healed up perfectly, but I do think back on it from time to time and feel gratitude that it wasn't worse.

@fn9849 it was avoidable. When you're operating machinery in the yard, you make sure the children are safe. Negligent parents aren't part of His plans If they can't be trusted with their physical well-being, why would they take good care of their souls, which can't be seen.
@rebeccadavis4939 Жыл бұрын
@@fn9849God always has a plan. But to “plan for it to happen” is not one of them. God will turn things around for His glory and in doing so restore faith in His Holy Name. But not to cause it to happen. Yes, things do happen for a reason and God can use that to Glorify Himself. There is a difference. We need to see how God can work in every situation.
@rebeccadavis4939 Жыл бұрын
@@trishkearney Are you a true believer in God? I ask because you are very negative and judgmental about what happened. Yes it is true that we, as parents, need to keep our children safe and, yes, many accidents can be avoidable. But Brett’s dad did try to keep him safe by instructing Brett to go into the house. And, by the video, Brett obeyed his dad at that point. There is no indication that the father was negligent which you are implying. Are you suggesting that the dad lock Brett up in the house so he couldn’t get out? You also imply that Brett’s parents are negligent which they are not. You are assuming too much and not giving credit where credit is due… to God and Jesus Himself. This is not a “would, should, could” moment. It’s a tragic unfortunate accident where God intervened through faithful prayer and healed Brett and helped the whole family. If you are a true believer, look at the Glory instead of the tragedy

Its been 9 years since your tragic accident but i know from experience you probably have not gotten over it yet. My grandson, at the time of his accident, was 8 yrs old. He and his mother came in for their vacation at Pappap's and MawMaw's. Their first day here my wife an daughter went shopping and me and my grandson were going to have some pool time. We finished up pool time and I told him to stay on the pool deck while I pulled the solar cover back on. Next thing i know is he had some how gotten his leg caught between the pool cap and the deck and his little leg was in a 'U" shape. I had failed to protect my little guy. Months of healing, doctors visits and tons of prayer followed. It hurts my heart to even write about it but to me, it was my fault that he got hurt. Everyone keeps telling me it wasn't my fault and I know that but my heart and head tell me different. Every once in a while I will pass the pool in the exact location that i remember seeing my little guy screaming for PapPap to help him get his leg loose and I will almost vomit. So, I know how you must feel about your child being injured. But we serve a gracious, loving, forgiving, powerful God. Today my grandson is totally healed and healthy for which I am totally thankful for. Now we have got to get PapPap to accept and realize that things are good thanks to the Lord and he can try to put it all behind him and move forward. God Bless you and Praise the Lord both our families have a great support group who know how and believe in prayer.

Romans 6:23 New International Version (NIV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.1 John 4:10 New International Version (NIV) 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The doctors & paramedics were already at the scene, the dad had already gotten neighbours for help and 911 had already been called. The mother only posted what she posted because she was freaking out, panicking and needed prayers and God’s help as it seems she’s very religious.

That is one determined kid. The fact that he recovered that quickly and took it so well is beyond a miracle. God was for sure with him those days. I really pray his dad doesn’t feel as guilty about it anymore. Accidents happen often, in this case a bad one. I really hope his family is doing well today.

Being a new father, this makes my heart hurt so bad for the little boy and the father as well. You can tell that father is riddled with grief, I couldn't imagine.
