James' voice is brilliant in both the heavier, gritty tones and the more clean, warm and soulful tones. Part of why I love the Load and Reload albums from '96 and '97

I love the " Bark " of a young James ( kill em all to Justice) but yeah, he really hit a vocal peak from 91 to 99. He really pushed himself on the " loads " and they have aged VERY well even though I hated it at the time being a Metallica ' True ". Now I love them .

@@andysalter7192 Yeah, I get why people at the time of the Load albums didn't like them because the overall sound was so different. As it was when I first started listening to those albums I only used to listen to the singles from them until I finally gave the whole albums a proper listen through and realised the whole lot are absolutely solid! Plus the fact James had started to use proper vocal exercises and warm ups after the Black album which made his voice on Load and Reload so much more resonant and with more control over the ranges

@@sporadicamnesic I remember going to a bar in around 2008 and seeing a pretty cute girl at the Bar and noticed she had the Ninja Star logo Tattoed on her arm and being a bit drunk I ran over all excited to talk Metallica, we started chatting and I am like " How good is Blackened, I love the production of Justice , it's not as " warm" sounding as Puppets but it captures the feel of the album title etc ...." She looked at me blankly at said " I haven't heard those albums...." Of course I was like ' But...but you have a Metallica Tattoo !!??"she then explained her love for Metallica was the Load era , she had not heard one song from the first 4 albums. So yeah I get those albums are special to those who jumped on the train in that era and they hold up.

Metallica are my favourite band of all time hands down and have been since 1989 but it's insane that Thin Lizzy are not worshipped in the same way Zeppelin, Sabbath, Queen etc are ! It is a fun song to just pick up an acoustic guitar and strum through. Really great. I enjoyed this one hugely, thanks for the heads up! Whisky In The Jar is a bona fide trad Irish folk song, I assure you. Thin Lizzie is a MUST for EVERYONE. Phil Lynnot's early death was a real tragedy. Snowy White (that Les Paul will look familiar to some) did some amazing work with this brilliant band. No wish to appear pedantic, but that chord is Cmaj9, as the 7th degree of the scale, whether you call it Gmajor (Ionian), Eminor (Aolian) or whatever, is the maj7, B natural, all chords in the progression (I don't like "chord sequence", as, in the context, a sequence is a particular type of progression. Sorry sorry sorry sorry I HATE myself when I get theoretical. Keep rocking, and congrats on not waking up the parental element! 🌟👍

I learnt the Cadd9 thing way back when I was first starting to play guitar in the early 90s - one of the first songs I tried to learn was "I remember you" by Skid Row - they use that chord in the accoustic parts - and it's stuck with me ever since, to the extent that I virtually never play a regular ol' Cmaj any more! And there's an interesting connection with Jon Bon Jovi there too. Snake Sabo from Skid Row was Bon Jovi's original lead guitarist...so maybe it's more than just JH's vocals that sound like Bon Jovi...the Cadd9 might be reminiscent of them also!

Kirk is playing (visually customised) a Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster. They're sweet guitars (existing also in Telecaster and Stratocaster body shapes), very good for quieter acoustic on-the-couch strumming, but they really shine when plugged in as they combine what are essentially Fishman Aura guitar emulations (based on impulse responses) of various dreadnought and smaller guitars in a variety of wood combinations, as they sound almost as good as the real thing mic'd up without feedback issues, excellent for live and more than acceptable for the recording of only guitar demos or even, if need be, proper releasable tracks when they're in the mix with other sounds. And then there's the Tim Shaw noiseless pickup (a humbucker in the Jazzmaster and single coils in the other two models) for quick switching to electric. Perfect for precisely this kind of live use, as travel guitars and much more. Some other famous players have also adopted them, like Sting and Jack White.

Beautiful Justin, love how you incorporate guitar info. into your brilliant videos! Have you ever sang a cover of A-HA "Take on Me"? I think you would do an amazing rendition of that one! Love your videos and music, cheers!

Hello Justin would you like to review an "indian folk metal" band Bloodywood with terrific mix of instruments and vocals. I recommend the song "Dana Dan" its mindblowing besides the album is outstanding. Cheers.

Just as I think I can't love Justin and this channel any more, he references Lynn from Alan Partridge. Incredible.

Please watch Alter bridge live at the royal Albert Hall. Performing Words darker than their wings. It’s my favourite live performance I have ever witnessed. Great videos and I hope you are doing well my friend. Also for anyone out there that ever has the opportunity to meet Justin, he is one of the nicest guys in show business. I live near where he was from and used to run into him in a certain coffee chain. Had a really decent chat with him on one occasion and was just blown away.

Justin, great video and great song! I had an amazing thought, well I think it’s amazing. LOL Your speaking voice is ideal for sleep stories. It's smooth, and it has a resonating qualify that is calming and, frankly, sexy. Anyway, you would be great at that. Harry Styles and Matthew McConaughey have done it for the Calm app, which I don't use, but you could put it up on KZbin, and I would bet you'd get a shit ton of hits. Look it up, many other celebs have done it, and there are loads of others. My husband and I like the ones by Sleepy Cat and others. Love your channel!!!

Justin, get yourself a PRS Hollowbody II Piezo (US or SE model). Both can cop the Les Paul vibe because they have two humbuckers, and both have a piezo bridge that does a really good amp'd acoustic tone. You will love it, brother.

Hey Justin great video I got a suggestion for you to look on James Hetfield and that is his rendition of Eddie Money's Baby Hold On the performance is brilliant it's shows his true singing talent like this particular video does from Justin Harrison we share the same initial and first name also I love The Darkness and your awesome channel keep it up 👍👍👍👍👍

(Typing quietly so as not to wake the Parents) I hope your Mum & Dad still get a hug or kiss from you before they retire for the night. How lovely. Thin Lizzy are simply gods. I have always called Phil Lynott (Line-ott not Linn-ott) Not sure of pronunciation either. This is a very good cover of a beautiful song.
