The ROVIR is a ruggedized Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) thermal imaging system designed for night hunting, law enforcement, fire fighting, search and rescue, livestock management, wildlife observation, home security and surveillance.
The ROVIR is over-built to maintain performance through years of use and exposure to the elements. The ROVIR features a sacrificial window to protect the lens, heavy-duty cable with braided sleeving and mil-spec connectors.
The foundation of the ROVIR is an aircraft-grade aluminum chassis with countersunk pocketed super-magnets to attach to almost any vehicle. For vehicles or boats with a fiberglass or plastic body the ROViR has 4 threaded holes in the chassis that can be used to attach custom mounting solutions like a RAM Mount.
The ROVIR uses an intuitive thumb-stick controller to control panning, tilting, and video image enhancements. The rest of the system is controlled by 2 buttons located on the thumb-stick controller.
At the core of the ROVIR is the FLIR Vue Pro - an advanced FLIR camera system that allows users to connect via bluetooth and the FLIR UAS app and that has onboard recording. The FLIR UAS app can customize image quality settings such as Automatic Gain Control(AGC), Digital Detail Enhancement(DDE) and FLIR's proprietary smart scene optimization as well as capture thermal still images and thermal videos. Users can download captured images and videos via a mini USB port.
** Why Do We Hunt Hogs? **
Feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of disease and injury to livestock.
Feral hogs compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly increased landowners' ability to mitigate the destruction caused by feral hogs.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year.

To a rancher this could pay for itself, in one season. Especially at birthing time in freezing temps, when you have thousands of acres and your cows could be anywhere giving birth this would make your job so much easier, without having to leave the comfort of the cab of your truck or atv. *_Pretty cool rig guys. I hunt hog with my buddies on the local farmers property. We will use cameras to find out how many in the sounder. We will then wait until we get them somewhere that we can ambush them & get the whole sounder. If 2 or 3 get away its ok, as we know they will continue to use the path they have been using so we will get the remainder within 1 or 2 days. Because we use a UTV / ATV we can get in on top of them before they know it so 3 of us shooting with full auto rifles mean's we dont need to get on that hog for the 2nd shot that's needed a lot of the time to put it down. But your very correct when you each person in the vehicle has a very limited range of sight depending on the seat your in. With the full auto it mean's a tap of the trigger will put a couple or 3 rounds on point in a split second & using a 60 round mag means i wont run out of ammo. Some of my buddies will use the 100 round SureFire mag but i like the size of the smaller SureFire mag but either one will insure you dont run out. I find this extremely effective but this kit somehow utilized on a UTV/ATV would be awesome._*

Nice job, and good to see you guys have started to catch up with what we've been doing in the UK for 2 or 3 years now. I've built four units similar to yours but using a 75mm lens and 640x480, 17 micron core, The screen is full HD 1920x1080 and the control for the dual speed pan and tilt is wireless. They also have a position indicating system using LEDs around the edge of the screen so that you know which direction the thermal is pointing

Very cool but very expensive. I just looked it up. $7995 but it does include free shipping. It puts it in the same class as buying a Bell helicopter to go hunting for me. If I owned a ranch where the hogs were doing damage, it's a no brainer.

Nice tool, there is one thing I don’t understand, though. In almost all vid everybody shoots the big pigs in the sounders, including the leading sows with piglets. I know this is pest control, but in Europe we wouldn’t do this, because the pig(lets) will spread and the boar problem will be harder to manage (apart from the fact that it is seen as unsporting to shoot a mother animal, but that is a different discussion). Surely you would want to keep the pigs together as much as possible for easier eradication. Any comments?

Seriously, you need some way to mount a rifle on a turret and connect it to some thermal imaging - this way you could allow the firearm to swivel as it tracks the pigs. You could have taken out that entire sounder in a few seconds.

Shooting educates the surviving pigs and never takes out an entire sounder. Pig Brig® trapping can take down multiple sounders without having to monitor the trap, and leaving ZERO pigs on the land. When these guys started shooting at the 18:10 mark, they didn't even come close to taking HALF of the sounder, and spent multiple rounds of ammo on the few they did kill.
