It was a tough tough decision for me because I really wanted to feel a huge difference in performance I wanted the Cobb access port so bad but I did my research for months and came to a conclusion that I need to battle the heat problem 1st so I had to buy an aftermarket intercooler

i run the lightweight CP-E FMIC...i only see ambient temps or a few degrees cooler all day every day. Only time its high is if you just idle for long periods, obviously (ICs only work when the cars moving lol). So this is basically a first mod for any FoST for sure. I'm FBO, E30, and my charge temps on long runs are great...OIL temps are another thing altogether. One of the only parts I dont have upgraded, is an oil cooler. Next on my plate XD glad y'all got to get this done for you at a well known shop!

Yep... right thing to do. The factory intercooler is literally cr*p. I got mine replaced by a fat stage 3 capable one, very similar in profile to that one you had fitted there. But most of the changes I did were under the skin: I got a helical limited slip diff fitted, Focus RS dual mass flywheel and clutch (all of which helped dial out most of the torque steer and hugely improved traction), and far better rear motor mount too. Apart from that, an Airtec induction system and stage 1 remap. My Focus ST is chucking out 290bhp and 386lb ft of torque currently. Next month goes on a new 3 inch resonated cat back. A few months down the line, a sports cat downpipe and stage 2 remap. My target is 300bhp or just over. But definitely the heat issue is best eliminated 😉

Unless you have upgraded turbo that can't be true. Mustang Dyno? Methanol? The factory turbo is limited to around 270.
@shaunwalton8058 Жыл бұрын
You will need a bigger turbo for 300 + bhp. See edge motorsport channel.
@codyyeager27405 ай бұрын
Bhp is not whp horsepower to the crank probably would 300 or a little over and the whp would be about 280

Steeda’s got a gnarly facility. Had the awesome privilege to go to a show they hosted a couple of years ago and got to see what I think was a replica (or it may have actually been the real thing, who knows?) of the old Adam West Batman Batmobile.

Are you reffering to the charge air temps? Mine havent been over 100 yet and i rip on mine pretty hard haha. I also have a 2014 im at stage 3 on e30. Also i live in michigan so it is a bit colder

Very! I've put over 80,000 miles on mine - modded, driven hard, extreme pops and crackles - and I haven't had an issue yet. It just keeps going.

Humidity is the enemy. My st gets with it in 108 degree desert heat in Palm Springs. Stock IC with bolt on’s and a ford racing tune. Put a larger IC in and it just helped hold max power longer.

man 14:30 was TERRIFYING, you said you were gonna get on it & see how high the temps go. right after the van brakes but you can BARELY tell, and then after they brake you look into the left lane. i think if this was at night there is no way you look on the left like that if the person in the front is braking. daytime driving can be scary too

You ideally needed your upgraded intercooler at the same time you upgraded your air intake system... but good you got it done. All these mods are costly, so, get the "putting off" delays. Out of interest, how do you find out your air intake temperatures?
