I just got mine the tubeless setup was great. I double layered the tape as i like to be extra sure they seal. I really like mine so far

@@ToogyHowser no they were not. I like to tape mine so I am sure they are correct. I like to use 30mm tape on a 25mm wheel. They ride great so far

Cassette is actually 11-51 according to their web site - if that's correct, it violates the max spec of the Advent-X derailleur (48t) - interesting. Anyone know anything about this?

Gravel biking has really grown on me! It started out as a way to train in the winter, but with all the rain we've had here recently, it's often the only option I have to ride (our local trails close when muddy/wet). Good looking bike, great way to mix up your rides too...I'm hoping to get a century in at some point too. You should do a series training/documenting getting ready for it 👍

yep! it's the only way I can ride right now too! our local trails are still closed and it's raining again today! I'm not sure when they will open!

I don’t understand the sizing on these. Comparing reach and top tube to a traditional gravel bike I would need to size down to a small (I’m 5’10”). I know they have a shorter stem and that also makes me wonder if it puts your hands too close or even behind the steering axis while in the drops. Unfortunately I can’t get my hands on one to test the sizes. The only Marin dealers around me are clueless about these bikes. If you mention gestalt they only know about the regular and not the X series. Really this bike is just Marin’s DSX flat bar bike with a drop bar added. I’ve tried adding drops or an alt bar to my MTB and it is too long or puts your hands behind the steering axis which is weird. I like the idea of this bike but not sure if Marin thought this out or just threw a drop bar and shorter stem on their DSX. What size are you riding? How tall are you? And how does the size feel?

I'm 6'2" and mine is a size XL. It really feels more like a mountain bike than a road bike, but lighter/skinnier tires and drop bars. It does have a very short stem compared to other drop bar bikes I've ridden before, it doesn't seem behind the steering axis, it feels comfortable & normal to me, I've been able to do my longest ride ever (70KM) on it and it never felt weird. It feels much more stable and natural feeling than my last gravel bike (specialized diverge). I'd recommend at least a size Medium for you if not large. I'm right on the line between L & XL and glad I went XL.

If given the choice between a mountain bike ride and a gravel ride, I'll choose mountain biking every time. But, the gravel bike does provide for better training and fitness, and when the trails are muddy, then we ride gravel.

I'd choose a Mountain Bike every time as well, but I'm glad I have a gravel bike for when the weather hasn't been cooperating, like this spring! My local trails are still closed and it's raining again!

Aggressive tires will always pick up and throw more gravel, .... nothing new there .. Maybe time for a small fender or frame tape. I have '20 X10 and the brakes can always lock up the tires, what more braking could one possibly want!? Brakes get a bad rap, unfortunately!
