I'm a tennis teacher since almost two decades, I consider this piece of advice by Patrick as pure gold. As an adult approach the net and compare its hight to your hips, the net you use for kids must be the same proportionally, or lower. Now launch an adult tournament tennis ball to above your head and let it bounce, measure it's max hight to your hips and use the same proportion when chosing a tennis ball for kids, or of course go even lower. You don't want to force a kid growing his bones and joints to hit high balls.
