One of the oldest tricks of sales is trying to make the person feel that they are lucky to be getting whatever you’re selling them, and that if they wait they may never have a chance again. Establishing urgency is something you’re trained in almost every job where you’re doing any type of sales and marketing, as I’m sure you know since that is the area where you’ve worked before. The sad thing with fashion is, that those techniques, while extremely successful and profitable for the brands, can also have damaging affects on insecure people and their self-esteem.

This why it is little bit harder for the brands (psychologist myself) to trick me to buy everything. I really think twice before I buy something and always ask myself whether the items fit a gap in my wardrobe and will serve me well (in terms of cost per wear) or if my heart only desires this item for flexing or status. In my country there are many wealthy people who do not wear logos (maximum is Rolex watch) and they are comfortable not buying luxury brands, but buy well made mid to high range designer clothes that last a life time. As a Hermes lover and buyer I think the highest level of self worth comes when you feel like do not have to buy/wear luxury brand to prove yourself.

This is why i haven't bought another chanel bag. I love the bags but im really, really not happy with the brand. The brand has to be kind to thier customers.
@thalia71043 жыл бұрын
Even though I'm not that interested in their bags (the majority of Chanel bags are shoulder bags, I prefer top handle bags), I would have been interested in a wallet / flap-style cardholder or other SLG. But in EVERY Chanel Boutique I've had unfriendly, bad customer service. So I never bought anything. I love the history of the brand, but I can skip a brand that doesn't seem to take effort into good customer service easily. There are enough other, equally or even more beautiful brands out there. 🤷🏻♀️

Excellent content Dacob. All true! Luxury brands are playing with our minds. Look at the way they raised their prices in the past when there’s a world recession or catastrophe, with the most recent being COVID. They know people are depressed and want to buy something special for themselves to feel a little better. Chanel raised its prices 3 times in a year NOT because prices of materials or electricity went up but because they want to take full advantage of the world crisis 🙄 All the other luxury brands followed suit. What a mind F**k! “Treat ‘em mean, keep ‘em keen is the motto 😠 It’s so hard to find a decent well made bag these days without the ridiculous price tag. I feel like this bubble is going to burst soon, intelligent people will only tolerate so much. Chanel and Hermes are really pushing those boundaries.

We hold on to the magic melancholic memories of what that special person used to be and live for the few times that we are pleasently surprised. “Dump the guy!” your friends say. “Buy the bag!” your friends say.

Well, when it comes to luxury, it really takes to understand that they can definetly afford to hire all kinds of specialists that only work on how to trick us ! They've been using influencers for years in a super clever way, and, they started to open up about ads and partnerships pretty recently. I like the way you underline the difference between needs and wishes, Coco would hate all this nowadays consumerism, you're 100% right ! Once you get a timeless iconic piece, you're done ! Thank you for this video ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I can see that some want to go back to prove them wrong by making purchases with another one at your face. I had an experience where they tried tricking me into buying a cushion that was from target for 29.99$. The man at the home boutique in Puerto Rico said to me it’s “nine ninety nine”, in Spanish, I said “I’ll take it”, i gave him 10$ bill he looks at me and says I’m sorry I meant 99.99$. I looked at him and said you know what I’m never coming back here again, I can get all this stuff at target 🎯 in USA.

Hello my grandma has a denim Chanel bag. It has vertical stitches and it’s rectangular and very sturdy with light brown/caramel leather handles. The leather is still in a good condition and the denim seams to be very high quality. I don’t know if it’s an authentic bag or what model it is. Can you please help me know if it’s authentic or not? The stitches are vertical and don’t look like the classic Chanel stitches that create lozenges.
@accesstotheredcarpet3 жыл бұрын
You need to bring the bag to an authentication. That way he or she can examine the bag and verify if the bag is authentic. Or take it straight to your local Chanel store. You realize you’re on KZbin and there is no photo tool for KZbin to post. Dacob is in Europe. Please go to your local that specializes in vintage items. Good luck🤞

What a great video, Dacob🙏 Its so sad, but its truth. We all know that, but to hear, that basically they make us mental patients, its harsh. They using something, that It was created by alphabet agencies. They did experiments and it worked. And thats why we now bombarded with constant commercials, scarcity . And its like , weaker more emotional ppl fall for it. Thats why , i think that women are more affected than men. Its something we always be thought, from early age, that we have to be beautiful, dress right, makeup, hair. I think we are even more conditioned by design, to become victims of this game. And its like addiction. I can decide not to eat certain food, and be successful , but any time i say myself, that i am not going to buy Chanel, this month, i fail 😳😂 and like you said we have to be more conscious in our buying decisions. . But its like constant fight within yourself. And creating scarcity, its really the worst thing for our emotions , it creates FOMO . I hope we will be healed , from this mental disease, in quantum world. Have a blessed day 🙏🧡

So there is a herd mentality that I like to laugh about! Everyone running to the get the latest from the luxury brands, new restaurants to be seen at, and it goes on and on! People believe all the latest and greatest gives them cache! I have lived long enough and really get a hoot out of watching the fear of missing out mentality. I have 2 Chanel bags and of course their perfume. I’m careful not to fall prey to where the herd is flocking to.
