For anybody wondering about the fan at the back of the case. You can take off one of the metal sides on the SL140 fan to make it fit the case. It's only being held with glue. I had to do that to make it fit the Lian Li 216 case. If you don't take off one of the metal sides on the fan, it's really hard to close the tempered glass panel completely at the rear of the case.

Having bought one for myself to substitute my aging Zalman Z11 plus, I gotta say that in terms of air flow this thing can push!. I get better temps with the 216 than with my old Z11 completely open. I have had it for almost a year now and having build around 20 PC's for mostly friends I can say I LOVED building and cleaning this case, it is easy, accessible, practical and you can tell there was thought put into its design. Easily hands down best out of the 3 cases I have ever owned. Now for my 3 complains... 1 - I wish the fan in the back had arbg but no biggie, the fan is quiet and does its work well out of the box, also very easy to replace. 2 - The whole power button thing that you can move to the side of the case its tricky because it is a VERY TIGHT fit for the cables, wish there was a bit more space between the fans and the chassis for an easier swap, not an issue if you leave the power button on top. 3 - My BIGGEST complain, the HDD shroud does NOT come with a anti-vibration rubber and the drawer thing where the HDD goes has some wiggle so whenever the HDD ramps up, you will listen to it loud and clear due to the side also being meshed. Yes, I am aware I do use it with my old backup HDD that is 10 years old and it is naturally noisy by now but I did not had this issue in my 10 year old case. I had to buy rubber pads and use some leftover black sponge to be able to eliminate the vibration noises. I am sure newer HDDs will be quieter but considering there are 2 different vibration points I am positive you will listen to some degree of vibration. Lian Li could have included some rubber pads inside the little tool box that comes inside the case and it wouldn't have cost them all that much.

you missed the movable motherboard tray - by default it is in lower position for watercooling (to give more clearance at the top) and for air cooling it can be moved upwards but then you can't use the rear addon fan bracket.

I did watch the video and likely missed the part where you mention it but you can move the motherboard up/down by around 20mm to give more room at the top (air cooling mode) or bottom (air cooling mode) dependent upon where you need the room. Should also note that to use the additional [optional] fan on the back you need to set the motherboard to the higher placement (air cooling mode) so that the GPU now uses the top bracket on the back of the case allowing for HDMI/DP cable to still be plugged in. So, if you want to use the extra fan be sure to verify that your motherboard has the primary GPU PCIE slot as the SECOND one and not the first (shifting mobo up remember). Most motherboards should be fine however, there are exceptions...

I liked the wraparound window cases until I started spec'ing them out. Most can't accommodate a Strix or Tuf 4090 or 4080. Most can't handle an NH-D15 so the versatility isn't there with even the Y60 and O11D XL. Because of the 12VHPWR adapater on the 40-series Nvidia cards, there are now some GPUs with a greater height requirement than the NH-D15!?! The Lancool 216 case can do all of these things and in a more compact form factor. I use an EK Nucleus 360 Lux and mounted the rad up top in the 216. Airflow through this case is great. The only fan I replaced from stock is the rear fan so I could bling it out. The front 160mm fans really move the air! And quietly! I, personally, found no need for the rear/external GPU fan mount. I also have a Tuf 4080 and can easily close the window-side door with the GPU in standard mounting to the motherboard and the adapter installed (unlike larger cases mentioned above). The hardware is high-quality and build quality is great and what you'd expect from $200+ cases. It is so easy to work in every part of the case. You can easily access both sides of the PSU when you want to add / remove a connection. You can remove the top of the case altogether which makes a world of difference when putting everything together. So easy to manage the cables. The vertical space above the motherboard in the liquid config allows mounting of standard 27mm rad with 25mm thick fans without blocking the motherboard, RAM, fan headers, etc... This is the best cased I've owned and I've paid two to three times for other cases over the years. I agree the O11D and I would even add the O11D XL are over-rated, but imagine if they were 3-5 cm wider on the mobo side.... I would have spent the additional $100-150.
@yesthisisvic2 жыл бұрын
I agree with using a 240 mm AIO on the i5-13600K. A 360 would obviously be more esthetically pleasing to the eye, but probably an unnecessary extra expense. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the 280 mm AIO and it fits on the top of this case, so that's probably what I'll be using in my build.

Hi, i dont know if someone here already said it, but why you did not removed the "plates" below the 2 bottom fans? You dont need them to install those fans, they just disturb the airflow sucked in from the bottom massively. GPU temps would be better without them. Like the case, like the price, like the bottom I/O But I don't like the rear NO RGB fan in a rgb case, I don't like the Mic/audio combo jack, I don't like the rear fan bracket and would rather have a air filter in place as they are never in stock. All the don'ts cost them pennies over the added cost for that rear fan bracket that nobody would ever use. I would take 2 in white if they had bigger holes for better airflow and a filter is better then over 50% blocked because of the small holes that do not filter dust and the top Needs open way larger holes for 360 AIO exhaust.

Now, is it ONLY 1 wire(from the hub, not the fans) that I would need to plug into the motherboard to control every aRGB device plugged into the hub thru software? 2. is there only 1 wire from the hub that I would need to plug in from the hub to the motherboard that controls all of the fans connected to that hub?

I also installed the Thermaltake Peerless Assassin 120 CPU Fan/Heatsink. I put in the new i712700K CPU with 64GB of Trident Z5 DDR5-6400 RBG Memory. Installing an Nvidia RTX 4080 FE graphics card with the 12VHPWR 90 degree connector. I am using an EVGA 1000GQ PSU. I am using and EVGA Z690 Dark Kingpin Motherboard with a WD 2TB SN850X Gen 4 NVMe SSD 7300MB/s. This is the 1st new computer I have built and the 1st new computer since 2001. Tired of old used hand me downs. I have a question about adding more fans. As far as you can tell would I be ok with the included front 2-160mm fans and the rear 120mm fan, or would you suggest adding more fans? I am considering adding a rear where the GPU exits. Would you be able to suggest exactly which Lian Li fans I should get for adding cooling below the GPU in the case and also which Lian Li fans would I need to get for above the CPU Fan/Heatsink since my CPU socket is rotated 90 degree on my Kingpin motherboard?

i prefer my dp503, mesh at PSU level is asking for dust bombs. 160mm fans are just...weird (cant find replacements and..only 2x140mm front as alternative??)...but fine for those who go stock. + point is that they run 140mm exhaust as they always do..though i got a 120mm fan on my dp503 that matches that 82cfm, while i run 140mm x3 for 300+ CFM up front. + free GPU mount and more grommets on dp503. I got the asia version, so i paid ~$75 AUD shipping included and another $40 AUD on fans. But i must say, credit to Lian Li for providing these features stock, will be great for beginners imo. this should run great out of the box than most other cases.
