I'm sure everyone is chiming in on some chicken coop advice so here it goes....we found great success using sand in our chicken coop instead of straw. It provided grit for them, they could scratch, keeps the coop mold free as well as super easy to clean up poop! We made a giant kitty litter scooper and easily picked it up every day and threw it on to our compost pile. We lined their nests with pine shavings, dried herbs and diatomaceous earth as well as putting garlic in their water all the time. We had 52 chickens for 4 years! Not one of them got sick!

My thoughts exactly....My better half could not understand why I paid as much as I did for our all our acreage a bit south of Jorden with the necessary resources. I saw this coming many years ago globally. We have been doing what is necessary to hit the ground running but also too with a roof over our heads finally which is pretty good size and under $10k. We have been offered double what we paid but we purchased for one reason and one reason only. Our location has been looted but with that said it is being watched by some decent locals that will fight the fight and know who the perps are. For many who say there is zero crime and life is paradise are living on pure fantasy. Need to have infrared cameras every 300 feet around the property that run off from solar and are well hidden. Need to also have trip wires that are up high enough where the animals will not set off as well. Don't trust local enforcement, can be your worst enemy. Would suggest as well several large gradian K9's if you can afford it and train them not to take anything from strangers. Be careful who you thought you could trust as they could be taking notes as well. Also have reliable security you can call if needed 24/7 both with the locals and "Gringo's!" Blessings

I don’t want to make light of the situation in Panama right now with the protests, but on a positive note it is a good thing that the people of Panama can protest. All countries even here in Canada have their protests. This too shall pass, and all will return to normal. also remember the news does sensationalize most situations because drama sells. Be safe and careful! Love your videos. Here in the states we've had riots and looting not too long ago. In Panama it's more of a peaceful protest, . It happens everywhere. As long as it's peaceful and no one gets hurt. My brother lives there and says it's a beautiful country, safe and people are amazing. Always going out of your way to help someone. I'm planning a move there and thinking of being in the mountains vs the ocean.

Hi Chris & Kris. You are smart to try & grow yr own food. Wanted to share a wonderful vlog on YT, with you. You may already know them. Roots and Refuge Farm. They are Homesteaders now in SC & have a passion for teaching very supportively about growing a garden, as well as other Homesteading skills. Ck out Jess's vlogs about the soil being poisoned. She shares that many new gardeners are getting discouraged this season because they think it's their lack of skills, when in reality much of the soil/ mulch contains toxins. Even if you don't have this challenge, Jess & Miah are amazing & very inspiring. Good luck to you both!🦋🌻🙏🏽

We lived on a military base in Panama during the ,80s. My father was a jungle warfare instructor. One time he was driving his motorcycle on base and va minibus with a car bomb blew up. He was driving behind them swerved and broke both legs. The bike was somewhat okay. Even with the civil unrest back then my father still misses this country. If it wasn't for my mother he probably would have definitely retired there.

No one's hiding anything. This is what IS. And we need to do what we can in our own lives and community to come alongside one another as a people. Life was never a 'reality' TV show. There are challenges we're facing that can no longer be ignored. Climate is one of them. Food production is another in a rapidly changing climate. Energy (heating/cooling), and water usage. The time to step up to the plate is now.

Farmers then cant keep up with their costs and people like Bill gates is buying up all the land dirt cheap. They are deliberately burning down food production plants. @CarlHancock2 жыл бұрын
Just so you are aware the shortage aren’t because there is a lack of gas or goods. The shortages are due to protestors blocking roads and therefore the gas and goods are unable to reach the communities. I get the sense that some people think this is due to actual food shortages or fuel shortages and it’s nothing of the sort. Protestors are preventing the trucking industry from being able to function. It’s a shortage created by the protestors themselves. If they weren’t protesting the shortages would not be happening.

I worked and lived in Panama from 1984-1987 and there were protests in 1987 (Noriega government) and the protests were largely non-violent and I felt safe. The only annoyance were the road blockages. There were no food or gas shortages. What is happening now appears to be much different. I returned to Panama for a one-week visit in March 2022. Loved it. Even spent a few days in Boquete. Had been thinking about relocating there from the US. I am currently re-thinking. I pray that the food ad gas shortage situation does not get so bad that "the desperate" try to enter your property to steal your resources as you guys are largely self-sufficient. Be safe.
