Jeff’s guitar solos in ‘People Get Ready’ are absolutely exquisite, it’s a song that has always moved me but now I’ll cry every time I hear it. It’s one of many songs that was a comfort to my parents and I throughout the 90’s as my brother suffered with the repercussions of contracting bacterial meningitis as a new-born. Hearing the cause of Jeff’s passing devastated me. The only consolation is that it wasn’t drawn out. Rest in peace Jeff 🖤

Yes Simon, from what I read bacterial meningitis is a ruthless infection indeed. It almost seems like rabies. I am sorry to hear you lost your friend to it. I just wanted you and everyone else to know, that real colloidal silver, were talking 5,000 - 10,000 ppm not the 20, 50, or 500 ppm they sell in America will destroy any bad bacteria or virus that does not belong in our body. It will even destroy rabies. Check out Invive Colloidal Silver from Canada. It is a sin what happened to Jeff.

Jeff was the best. Truly peerless. My uncle showed me “Blow By Blow” at 14, a couple years after I started guitar, a year later I saw him live and my life was forever altered. In life you have a few moments you can look back on as truly formative and that was one of them, for me. What a loss. You know he never stopped getting good because this loss feels like losing a young talent as much as it is a legend. Thats because he never stopped getting better and had this unbelievable energy and vitality for a player who lived through the generations he did. Truly a monumental loss. I cant think of a player who hasnt been influenced by him. Rest in power

For a lot of us , our first introduction to Jeff Beck was 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' I've heard he dismissed the song over the years which I understand, he didn't want to be a pop artist , that said, I have seen at parties/functions/events that song being played and people just get up and dance and sing their hearts out to it and be happy and joyous, for that I'm eternally grateful. Rest in Power Jeff Beck.

Indeed - it was such a part of the place I used to hang out in the 80s (an eclectic celebration of music - not many places could fill a floor to Sisters of Mercy, Duran Duran, Iron Maiden, and Marvin Gaye on the same playlist, but the DJ there could.) Last three songs of the night - Hi Ho Silver Lining, into Frank singing New York New York, and the lights coming up to Judy singing Over The Rainbow.

I thank Jeff Beck for the inspiration and vitality he had to motivate me to continue with music. If it wasn’t for someone recommending Blow by Blow to me during that time where I just wasn’t sure about guitar anymore, I wouldn’t have continued to play. I wouldn’t have sat down and wondered, “how can someone make a guitar do that??”, and cause me to wanna figure it all out. I’m still figuring it out and that’s what makes Beck timeless - he played like him and only him.

I’m always surprised when people talk about Jeff Beck and never mention or seem to be aware of the more recent electronic stuff that he did (“Who Else!” to “Jeff”). Those albums are honestly some of THE most inventive, ground-breaking playing he’s done. He always pushed the envelope as far as what can be done with the guitar, even well into his 60-70s. Most guitarists from that era just live off their classic stuff, but Jeff never stopped striving to break new boundaries and is by far the biggest inspiration to my playing. He’s the only guitarist I know that has managed to bring me to tears on multiple occasions with his beautiful, vocal-like, otherworldly playing. Tears me up just thinking about it. He’s everyone’s favorite guitar players’ favorite guitar player. I’ve seen him several times and passed on seeing him with Depp more recently, opting to wait til he did another solo tour… that moment never came. RIP Jeff and thank you for always managing to touch my soul with your guitar sorcery. 💔

Thanks for this video Justin. I am only 54 so Jeff's music was a bit early for me. I heard about Jeff Beck as a big Rod Stewart fan and a child of the MTV generation (when MTV was awesome). I remember watching Jeff riding on a train in the People Get Ready video. It was ridiculously good. I then learned a bit more, and could eventually identify his distinctive style on the guitar. More than any certain song or performance, I'm impressed with Jeff Beck as a person. First I'm so grateful and amazed that he never got into trouble with drugs and alcohol while being surrounded by it and having so many friends who did have those problems. I'm also grateful for his mentorship of Tal Wilkenfeld as his bassist. Of course she was talented and deserving but that's not always enough for women in the music business. She was also very young at the time of hire and it's awesome that Jeff gave her a platform not only for her talents but to give that representation for women who want to rock out esp on the bass. Lastly I'm very thankful for Jeff's support of Johnny Depp after the trial. The second that fiasco was over Johnny was on the plane to play with Jeff's band in London. A good friend. It's kinda sad to me that he died on his buddy Rod Stewart's birthday.

Number 1 agree. When everyone else was doing their own one thing, he could turn his hand to anything. Blues, rock, psychedelic, jazz, country, even pop. The master of anything he chose to do. A musician not simply a guitar player. I’ve not read all the many comments so please excuse me if I’m repeating something, but BBA needs a huge mention. Beck Bogert Appice. As a bass player, Tim Bogert is one of my top 3. And the studio album plus the rarer live in Japan album are phenomenal. 1972 ish so between The Jeff Beck Group and his Blow By Blow period generally speaking.

Justin, Rufus and anyone who knew Jeff Beck personally I send you every sympathy on this sad, sad day. To his Family, the people he loved and his inner circle I offer my most heartfelt condolences on his passing. Every day we all stumble along between the immensities of life, our Birth and our Death and we have no clue which day after the first one, will be our last. You may have pain, feel burdened by life or even overcome by sorrow, but it's important to remember to live your life and not dwell on the burdening or the sorrowful. At the end of our lives I highly doubt that anyone has professed "I wish I had finished that spreadsheet" or "If only I had languished over (insert name here)'s death more". So as someone who at 55 is an orphan, widower, an amputee and suffers from a life crippling disease,...get the hell out once in a while and breath fresh air, go somewhere new, eat something foreign to you and whenever the situation arises, take a chance and kiss the girl or guy you're with, it might just work out to be the best thing you've ever done!! Take care.

I shall play Blow By Blow this evening because I trust your judgement, Justin. I'm aware of Jeff Beck's playing (phenomenal) but have never listened to an album. Time to put that right. RIP Jeff x

It was the Blaze of Glory sound track that introduced me to Jeff. I got the album for my 13th birthday and vividly remember sitting in front of the stereo and hearing this outstanding guitar sound coming through the speakers. One of my favourite memories. RIP.

He’s my number 1 justin always will be i’m absolutely devastated and still am never been this sad since bowies death. Glad i got to see him perform and break the rules while every other guitarist stuck to what they knew he was dangerously innovative and didnt care RIP Jeff Beck
