A fake company online is selling producers beats & instrumentals illegally for commercial and personal use to companies and Networks like Lifetime TV and others. My mission is to expose and shut down this online store and others like it selling our instrumentals with zero authority. I need your help exposing them by sharing this video and reporting the website!
I was told there is nothing I can do about it! I'm sick of hearing that and you should be too! Time to fix this game and also make companies and networks like Lifetime TV to put a little more focus and be aware of what, where and from who they are buy licenses from. Sorry for the lengthy video, I just wanted to be clear about what was going on. Please contact me if you have any more information on them or what we can do about it together!

If we don't collectively stop putting up with this stuff and move as a unit to run these frauds out of the game, we will never win. Sadly, I've run exposés on various people who are scamming or otherwise taking advantage of producers, and a lot of producers have Stockholm syndrome and are comfortable playing the victim role in this industry. It has to stop or we will be permanently doomed.

That's not a word and formal copyright only gives you benefits if you litigate. You can do some quick google research and learn about it or watch my videos explaining it.

I think we need to all start selling our beats for more money like $2500 a beat, point blank period!
@RodneyD

J Canan HELL!! We use to charge that amount and even more back in the mid nineties and early 2000’s. Then assholes like “BEATS BY JOE BLOW” started selling beat leases online for $19.99. Practically giving beats away for free. Completely fucked up the game for everybody.
@vice2versa
@vice2versa 5 жыл бұрын
@@RodneyD then beats would all cost too damn much. just leave exclusive beats for that much. cheap beats should be able to sell multiple times.

I still do know the logic of 5 dollar beat leases or 50 dollar exclusives. It's hard to get beat sales for even a 30 dollar lease these days but I'm not going any lower. When I was leasing out beats for 20 I could get a sale or two a day. Thinks a lot 5 dollar producers for ruining our business.

I've been in a similar situation. It's super expensive to persue anything legally. What you can do though for free however is send DMCA notices to the domains address and their hoster. Get your instrumental removed from the site and void his leasing contract to the beat. GL with it man.

Producers really think it's easy to find a lawyer who is willing to sue for over a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. All this "copyright it," "register it with BMI," "take them to court" stuff sounds good in a comment, but it doesn't mean a damn thing in the real world. We have to protect ourselves and each other instead of trying to tell one another what we should or should have done.
@deemoore4217

if you love your music copyright (not poor man's) and register it (ASCAP, BMI ,SESAC) forget what any one says about it otherwise!!!! these services have been available for YEARS! And Producers have been winning cases like these in court look it up.
@DJPain1
@DJPain1 7 жыл бұрын
Name one case in which a producer took a rapper or their label to court for stealing a beat and won.
@deemoore4217
@deemoore4217 7 жыл бұрын
So basically, you are promoting its better to NOT COPYRIGHT your music. Its easy to look up, but here's a few copyright infringement cases: Marvin Gaye vs Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines"), Casey Dienel vs Justin Beiber ("Sorry") Ralf Hutter vs Kraftwerk ("Only Me", German case). The Beatnuts Vs Trackmasters ("Jenny From the Block"). And your question doesn't apply to this video, Its a licensing issue. To all up coming producers be weary of others telling you not to COPYRIGHT YOUR MUSIC....IT IS COSTLY BUT WHAT IS THE COST WHEN YOU GET JACKED!!!!
@DJPain1
@DJPain1 7 жыл бұрын
NOWHERE did I say "don't copyright your music." Nowhere, no time. This confused gentleman didn't name a SINGLE instance of a producer suing a label or rapper over stealing a beat. Licensing has nothing to do with it. When somebody steals your beat, it's copyright infringement. Copyright also isn't "costly," it's 35 dollars for 40-50 beats if you use the online option. Stop trying to argue just to argue. Come with something real and helpful for producers. Until you name a case in which a producer with a registered copyright had his/her beat stolen and successfully sued for damages in court, stay out of the convo.
@deemoore4217
@deemoore4217 7 жыл бұрын
You said "we have to protect ourselves and each other." If you are ridiculing and mocking copyrighting and registering your music, you are indirectly implying that "it doesn't mean a damn thing in the real world." You sound like you are back pedaling now that I pointed your stance out. Instead of talking out of both sides of your mouth, let me educate these upcoming producers and songwriters to copyright and register with a Performing Rights Organization to protect themselves. By the way his music was stolen and was played on a Television show. That is not only copyright infringement it is also a music licensing issue. Not only did they not own the rights, they also did not have permission to use it for TV/Film. And for you to put yourself as a DJ in front of the people on KZbin giving misinformation. Im not arguing with you i am debating your approach, to tell someone not to get a lawyer and fight for their music is cowardly. I told you to look it up....its not that hard to find examples on Google, by the way a lot of these cases are settled outside of court. Peace!!!!! And let the people read the truth I am telling them.

Sorry to hear that happened to you man... If I had a dollar every time someone stole one of my beats... unfortunately shit like this happens constantly. I once found a guy who had made $30k+ selling my beats under his own name and even winning awards for them. There's very little you can do, shitty people will stream rip your tracks, cut around your tags and resell them. The best you can hope for is 1) register your songs with your PRO 2) copyright them if possible 3) keep backups of your save files and backups 4) enter your beats into ContentID 5) scan for usage of your beats with a program like TuneSat 6) have very clear terms of use on your website and in your contracts that are sent to people who buy your beats 7) educate yourself and understand your rights

This make s me livid. The thing that I've seen people do over the years in similar situations is, even if their site is taken down they can go up again under a different name. These people are taking food out of our children’s mouths and they really need to be stopped. They will get an email from me. I’m not going to wait until they steal from me. This is preventive action. Thank you J Canan for the info.

Man this is insane bro, we need to create a site as a collective to stay up to date designed to include websites links like "breakbeat". Together with members of the community joining up together in big numbers to warn others of these websites and the option to add suspected sites. Non-profit collective to help our producer community. The more members we have the bigger our voice to close these illegal sites. Let's start there bro's...

This has happened to me. I hired attorneys to protect the rights to my music and stop the new swing sextet from infringing on my original music. But they continue using it without making any payment or an attempt to legally use my music with a license. Since legal representation is expensive and prohibitive, I search media sites for my music and when I find the illegal use of my music, I file a complaint with the site and the music is usually taken down. This is wrong and I should not have to do this. the New Swing Sextet should pay for a license.

I'm not a lawyer. Been around music biz for a while. My 1st thought: the production company must pay you; IF you have copyright. Mail it to them with a specific amount of 'fee' for usage. You should also stay on top & in touch with the woman. surely she knows the action was wrong, so either push her to 'enable your music' to 'perform' in a show or as others stated 'search a lawyer'...some will work with you (knowing) it's a win. It's a win.

I recognise some of the sounds you used are from a construction kit. I noticed you've added your own twist to it with the dubstep feel and other stuff. Legally would you still be able to get royalties since you used sounds from a construction kit? Wondering because I'm looking to get into producing beats more myself. I'm keen to learn the ins and outs. I've purchased some kits myself, just wasn't sure what i could do with them legally.

you said the instrumental "did very well" and that you sold it a lot. When people buy the beats from you what terms do they agree to? You should have the terms clearly indicated to avoid this sort of problems. It's for your own protection. Also, if you have used any pre-made loop, etc... there are limitation to those as well. You can still build a case and sue this ass hole, it would help if you get several producers together on the same case and hire a good entertainment lawyer. PSA for producers, To avoid this situation all together, DO NOT SELL YOUR TRACK OUTS UNLESS IT'S EXCLUSIVE/ONE TIME. Send whoever bought the exclusive the rights explaining exactly what they can and cannot use it for. If they break the terms and your beat pops up somewhere then you know exactly who to sue.

J Canan If you have enough producers were the same situation happened involving this garbage website that increases the chances of a lawyer taking the case Pro bono, covering the expenses until the case is over. Bro😧😧😧 don't ever give traccouts out unless you have the person who is buying it, a lawyer, and a contract between all who is present. You giving your traccouts out for less than $100, you selling your soul for nothing. If anybody gets your traccouts, they can say they made it and if anybody ask them for proof, they will have the proof as long as they have them traccouts. And if you taking it to court please have a laptop with that beat pull up in whatever daw that you use and hope that they won't do they same, if so it's a 75% chance that the judge is going to throw the case out the window. Str8 ⬆✔🖒🏽. (The things you don't do as a music producer) #1. Don't sell traccouts w/o a conference or meeting and signing a contract str8 ⬆!!! Ok. You do have a copyright.....right? Then get a lawyer and sue they will do it on percentage. You will win. Then wait for the legal process to take its course. If you did not copywrite then you have learned a valuable lesson. Paul Simon copywrited all his work when he had nothing because he had the foresight to realize his stuff was valuable.
