I'm really glad this guy uploads multiple times a day and wanna thank him honestly. I've got enough entertainment to get through the day when I got nothing to do in my free time because most of the time he will be streaming or I can just check out videos I haven't watched The only problem is I absolutely can't sleep when I watch too many horror games or ghost hunting videos and it's just really sad that I can't support him as much as I want to. Hopefully one day I can get over this psychological part of me :)

If it was originally named House on the Hill and renamed, then it was renamed to not be confused with the board game "Betrayal at Haunted House on the Hill" (great game by the way). If you look up "House on the Hill game" you get Betrayal instead, so it WOULD make sense to change the name for more searches and less confusion.

56:00 you can actually see the shadow of the ghost across the floor, good job to the devs edit: the really annoying thing about this is how everyone immediately assumes that the dad is the bad guy, even if there is evidence to the contrary. Even after it is literally explained, ppl in the comments are saying she was framed. And the canon, true horror is literally just American healthcare. Nice.
@stevenhokanson3326 Жыл бұрын
The really annoying thing is that everyone assumes thats its about the horror of the American healthcare system that they didnt even pay attention to the fact the story takes place in London considering the health bills have a London address.. unless London is also impacted by the American healthcare system.

I think everyone I watched playing this one broke the sequence lol for some reason they always ended up in the basement first! I'm glad you played it, I love rewatching good games. As someone who writes as a hobby, I can say it really captures those moments where you're so into the story that you're living everything that happens through your characters, and those other moments where you are just outright plotting against them, or insulting them because they suddenly kind of "decided" to do something you didn't plan 😂 I was super impressed by the storytelling when I watched it the first time, and I am still impressed by how good it is.

For every story except the last one, you are the thief character going through development and the voice guiding you and eventually mocking you is the author. In the last bit you take over the POV of the author and see his actual problems, and how the stories he was writing were reflections of them.

I really loved how this approached the concept of exploring paths in a story. It hits the nail on the head. I often spend HOURS just thinking about the best path I want to take a certain scene--not actually writing, just thinking about it and the actions and outcomes of those actions--and when something doesn't work, I start back at square one to do it again, differently. Once I find a path I like, I write it. I always wondered if other people approached writing the same way, and it's cool seeing that play out visually in this game. Also, very weird seeing my doctor's name in a horror game...

I hope it's just a cliff hanger for a future game, but if not then i'm disappointed. Great game overall though
@prrrotean96272 жыл бұрын
right? i feel the same way tbh, to each their own but it's a little odd seeing the story praised almost entirely for the twist when i think it's the weakest part. like i understand the twist, i get it- but imo the whole "burglar is fraught with guilt over causing the deaths of the family whose house he was robbing, descends into madness reliving it and trying/failing to create fake explanations for why they were all secretly horrible people in order to clear his own conscience" thing is far more interesting and comes together in a nice way near the end. not to mention most of the game is spent setting up /that/ storyline, so the author twist, even though it's a more relatable/"human" situation, ends up feeling kinda out of left field and detracting from the pretty compelling story they had going on throughout the entire rest of the game. (should mention the last time i saw the full game played through was when it was still called house on the hill, so i dont know if there's been any major changes, but i can't imagine they'd change it That much if at all lol)
@tristanperry2402 жыл бұрын
@@prrrotean9627 and I agree, they could have done so much better, the fact they made it into a story meaning that majority of the game had no actual signifigance other than the slight emotions/themes displayed portraying how the author felt during his hard times, a better plot twist imo is that the character chose to write a book, failed causing the death of his son and the guilt taking his wife, and you see him grasping straws to find meaning as the madness takes over him, seeing his son as a monster for causing his wife to off herself, and her a spirit as it torments him, and lastly him who he sees himself as the reason they died. Just my opinion That original point prior in this message wasnt supposed to spiral into how I envisioned the end, but rather to portray my negative feelings for the ending to become a story, as the story itself is much too different, too abnormal too his everyday life and feelings. It overwhelms the theme he was trying to show
@prrrotean96272 жыл бұрын
@@tristanperry240 definitely get that feeling too, of the current ending overwhelming the themes in the rest of the story and being too disconnected. something like what you're suggesting, an ending that's closer in tone and better showed the author's real life experiences and emotion mirroring his book would feel less jarring, for sure.

Honestly the story felt like a slightly-forced amalgamation of Green Hell, Layers of Fear 1 & 2, Superliminal with that camera mechanic, dipped in Black Mirror -esque GroundHog Day -ish sauce, with Outlast-like sequences and events with minced Man of Medan -vibes, with totally random Silent Hill movie 2 character design that exits the story through a spontaneous appearance of Lovecraftian cosmic portal, mixed with some inspiration from Dr. Strange's and/or Control game's ideas of paranatural astral planes, a chunk from Visage, and finally the final plot twist just like Shutter Island movie. And possibly even more references. I've noticed way too many references that my personal immersion server crashed midway and so I just couldn't even react appropriately even by jumpscares and stuff lol /sadness
