The economy stuff looks great as a history buff because it's so damn realistic. Germany is so strong in the current build of the game, you never realise how close it's economy was to collapsing every step of the way lol.

Hjalmar Schacht really was a economic genius. Without him its entirely possible that the war wouldn't have even occurred, He purposly created hyper inflation during the Weimar Republic, so he could get the rearmament renegotiated by the Entente, and it worked brilliantly. He also created the Reichsmark and later the MEFO Bills. The MEFO Bills were the only reason Germany was able to rearm so quickly, it gave a cover to a majority of the rearmament until Germany was strong enough to make other powers think twice before stopping them. He also kept the war time economy going for much long than it should have. Realistically the economy should have collapsed after Barbarossa failed, the fact that he was able to pull levers to just keep it chugging and even growing into 43' is an achievement in itself, one that almost no-one acknowledges. He quite literally created a situation where the war could occur in the first place, and not only occur, but go to the literally bloody end.

The one thing about the economy of the Reich that the focus tree doesn't cover for understandable reasons is the massive use of slavery especially later into the war. It was common to take civilians from the eastern front and work them often to death in German factories as a lot of Germans were conscripted into the military. A system of rationing would be formed where for slaves with higher productivity would be given greater rations. If productivity didn't match quotas, slaves would be threatened with docked rations and a feedback loop of malnutrition and starvation. While I can see why paradox doesn't want to have to deal with simulating these atrocities in a way that is fun and gamified but also respectful, (also why there is no holocaust mechanic), it feels disingenuous to not mention it at all. I do appreciate them showing the instability of the German economy and need for the plundering of conquered territories.

Unlikely, because you get the Inner Circle, which is basically 6 free advisors, and stand to profit from RKs. It will however take succesful expansion until you reach autarky

@@claudiospeed Hoi4 with dlc included is roughly £250. Adding the next two dlc's listed thats looking £300+ currently which is the most expensive paradox game. Further dlc if they do 3/4 a year at £20 your looking at a £400. 🤷‍♂️ When Hearts Of Iron 5 gets released god knows when, 75% of HOI4 content will not be in it like they did to Crusader King fans 🙄

@@Vismark1171 I do agree with you, paradox has an unreasonable pricing policy, $400 for a glorified board game is too much and no one should give their money to this predatory company, the only reason i play hoi4 is because someone gifted it to me, i dont have a single dlc bought and the game really does feel lacking at times.

@@mapper7310 its not a terrible example, people have loved to boast about how R56 did content for countries earlier before the HOI4 devs did content for a country in their expansion and how they did it better, only for the R56 devs to come out in support of paradoxs new focus trees of which i've seen several examples where they think PDX did some things better then they did Mechanics like the Inner circle coming with Gotterdamerung may have taken some inspiration from high level mods like TNO, but I'm glad its farm more simpler then TNO or Black Ice- I don't want that level of complexity in HOI4.

I love hearing people complain about 70 day focus' only for the next focus in the video to be a 35 day focus lol. Honestly 70 day focus' in and of themselves are not a bad thing- hell its less tedious then having to baby sit the game since you need to start a new focus nearly every month. Its only a problem when every focus is 70 days and therr arent many of them, like China and Japan.
