it would be much more convenient if the names of the games were always in the corner of the screen while they are shown

I have a steamdeck and a legion go. I love them both, however. This looks like it addresses one of my issues with the Go and creates another. The original go had average ergonomics, I was able to get these comfort grips from a 3D print shop on Etsy and that really REALLY helped. The 2 looks better, but now it is functionally missing the trackpad. While I don't use the FPS mode a lot, I do dock my Go and I use the controllers a lot and that trackpad is KEY. Also the 2 top facing USB C ports. The best part of the Go 1's ports is they are on the top and bottom and un-obstructed. I can charge my Go and also have my headset dongle in at the same time. With them this close together I can't do that. I know that is more on the headset manufacturer, but still. On the plus side the front facing speakers look larger and will likely get better sound. Overall I think the Go 2 while it looks nice is removing the some of the small but very important features that make me turn it over my steamdeck lately. Honestly any handheld without at least 1 Steamdeck sized trackpad is a no go for me. I might just wait till Valve announces the Steam Deck 2 at this point. Valve please give me a 2nd USB port PLZ!!!

That is most likely not a trackpad on the Legion Go S, it is more likely it is an inverted optical sensor (essentially from a mouse) just like on the GPD WIN 4
@Jeff-wx3tx14 күн бұрын
I prefer this on my GPD Win 4 to the Legion Go’s trackpad
@CFWhitman14 күн бұрын
Yes, they're essentially an optical version of a "nub" or pointing stick device. That's what it looked like to me as well.

After Lenovo stopped "supporting" the Legion Go, what gives us reason to buy another version of their handheld PC?
@andyackerman712314 күн бұрын
I have a track pad similar to that, on my gpd win4. It’s fine, for navigating windows, but it doesn’t do much for gaming

things i look for in my next handheld :- 1- oled screen 2- light weight 3- great software support 4- affordable price 5- good cpu and gpu that can run blackmyth woukoung at least on midium

Legion Go needs to give more support for the products. The big screen is wonderful. Forcing users who side load drivers because they refuse to simply place it in Legion Space like Asus does with Armoury crate sucks for those users who are new to PC No VRR and battery also gets killed. I made it a Bazzite only machine like you did with your Ally nerd nest. 100 percent worth it I dual boot my Ally x. I hope this device does well. Without support, it will be left behind compared to its competition Love the podcast and channel!! Keep up the good workb

I wonder if they're going for an IBM type nub rather than a trackpad

It reminds me a lot of the laser trackpad that I had on this one little Lenovo laptop handheld thing that my uncle got from his work forever ago. It works by just being static and detecting your motion across it. It's movement surface multiplied by this area of your thumb is its entire range. It adds up to be a lot more than you would think and could probably work pretty well as long as it has surface area. It's reading so it's pretty good. It just depends on the acceleration models and how they are applied. Overall, it's probably not as good as a full size trackpad. But it's much better than not having anything I'd say
@floppydisk450014 күн бұрын
It certainly wasn't meant for gaming, but I did have fun playing Doom on it when I was a kid

One of my favorite indie games is Little Goody Two Shoes. The writing and the art is top notch, and I've never played a game quite like this one ❤❤❤

That screen is still a big deal on the Legion Go, especially next to the huge bezel tiny screen on my Ally X. 16:10 is so much better on these handhelds as narrower top and bottom bezels alone make the screen seem bigger whereas when they are thick, it makes the screen look to small. I know the VRR screen is frequently used as a plus, but I don't think even that can save it from being the worst due to the size of the 3 main handhelds now, as in my opinion it goes Legion Go, Steam Deck OLED, then Ally /X. So if this handheld can keep that screen ratio the same, then that could be a big deal if they show it next to the Asus handhelds.
@oscaspunkja14 күн бұрын
I think that the trackpad might be more like a "nipple" similar to what the lenovo thinkpads have. Or it could be a finger print sensor for windows hello, which is something the legion v1 doesn't have.

such a "trackpad" (although it is not exactly it) is installed on the gpd win 4, and it is quite convenient to use when you need a mouse pointer. But it is not for gaming, it is only for clicking something sometimes

7:41 "Rumored to be the next gen" and "Rembrandt" are contradictory. Rembrandt was the code name for Ryzen mobile 6000 series, and Rembrandt Refresh is the 7030 series introduced in 2023, still with Zen3+ cpu cores and RDNA2 graphics. If true, that would make the chip cheaper, but certainly not next gen.

One minor complaint with this why didn't Lenovo upgrade the RAM to 24GB with this new update to the Legion GO it would have been a huge help with modern games just like what ASUS did with the Ally X.

PCMR people who have complained (accurately) about Intel Core Ultra processors not being more performant than previous generation chips have completely missed the point. Intel is wanting to generate a whole new landscape of portable PC gaming devices. Let’s hope we can all soon abandon these towers and hyper expensive graphics cards for a portable gaming system with a dock for when we want to edit down and use TVs or monitors to game.

I'd really like that Claw 8. I love the 16:10 aspect ratio and the 120Hz VRR screen at 1200p is really nice. Its just the prospect of having to fight Intel ARC drivers, especially on older DX9 games, thats giving me pause for thought, also the possibilities of weird compatability problems with Emulators and shader effects.

why does everyone dump on windows as a bad frontend for these handhelds? its the same as literally ANY other computer. and no one complains about their gaming desktop PC's i know its not an issue for me with my ROG ally.
@AntonioCunningham10 күн бұрын
Its too soon. Competition is good but if you oversaturated the market, the Market will collapse. As much as I want a Windows Portable device, I'm not buying these devices unless I know the company won't release another device in at least 4 years. I refuse to buy any device if I know it's going to be outdated the following year.
@ignis8614 күн бұрын
is that a trackpad or a fingerprint sensor?
@NerdNest14 күн бұрын
interesting. I guessed trackpad, but that makes sense as well. Though I'd put a fingerprint sensor on a power button, which typically doesn't go on the front of the device.
@6speeds1014 күн бұрын
That was my initial response as well. I've heard others describe it as a Lenovo style nub. But to me it kind of just looks like one of those windows hello fingerprint sensors.
