It takes three years to build a huge ship. But how long does it take to dismantle one?
In Turkey’s Aliaga ship-breaking yard, ships that have completed their commercial lives are being dismantled.

That actually came into my mind when I saw this as I did saw a documentary many year ago. Compare to Bangladesh, this is one is less dangerous to the workers and also the process of breaking down is much more mechanised.

The stupidity in this comment is infinite. You need resources for growth, Turks as the founders of countless great States know how to process to make the next one. And it all started with Turkish blacksmiths in the far East.

Turkey should stop recycling garbage of europe and ships. Time to time garbage issue is coming to Media and everyone is swearing one month then everyone forgetting for 3 years till someone remind to them again. Erdoğan should do like philipine on this issue.

No ship recycling is good, they may send their ships as it would make us the best. But yeah, Erdogan has taken normal garbage from EU and that frustrates me - we do not have the capaicty to recycle them. But ship recyxling to a certain extent is good!

The environmental concerns is non-existent at these ship wrecking companies. They do not follow safety protocol because there are no safty protocols. Workers get paid pennies a day after they pay for the companys over priced housing (a 9'x9' shake with 20 men living in it) and overpriced company food from the company owned shops. It's slave labor at it's worse. When a worker gets seriously hurt the shipyard this will not pay for the hospital bill. If they lose the limb they get fired and thrown out of the shack. Most of these men will not make it too many years without getting terminal cancer from the asbestos oils gases and toxic chemicals they breathe in and handle without proper safty gear. Ive seen hundreds of hours of undercover video of how these ship yards really work. I've seen guys that sneak cameramen in to the yard not show up to work and their family friends and co workers never hear from them again. This is a propaganda video 👎🏻👎🏻
