@@babadelis444 even better splice it into the reverse lights so it only turns on when your reverse lights come on. i believe the connectors are called T-taps you just clip them on. thats what i did when i connected mine

so basically you have to wire it into the backup lights for your car. its not east work, it requires knowledge of wiring. anyways, you connect the cable to the backup light so when you put the car in reverse, the backup light gets power, therefore powering the backup camera and telling the "drivemate" that you are in reverse.

You have to solder the brake light wire to the backup camera so that when you reverse, it triggers the backup camera to turn on. Otherwise, you will have a continuously running camera that might as well be a rear dashcam.

@@Sam-k271 Hell, you don't even need to soldier it. Strip the plastic and twist them together. Electric tape it, and you are good to go. Soldiering is not easy for a lot of people.

The camera meets a signal to tell it when you’re in reverse. If you attach the power/ signal wire from the camera to your reverse light positive wire

Solder the red wire to the rear brake light wire. It will then trigger when you backup your car.

umm no this is prob a very tacky way on how to do it, first off that device to replace your head unit is not it, you shoulda got one that replaced the old head unit and you woulda been able to reconnect the wires into the area where the car know when to enable it’s reverse lights so whenever you put it in reverse the cars head unit display will also enable the camera making it feel more oem/factory and eliminating the need for random wires dangling around
