So if you sign up for the Open, you are automatically opted in to the testing pool? Interesting choice, CF HQ. This is nuts! This is what I know of the whereabouts process from athletics, & I assume it is the same under any WADA aligned sport: Athletes not in the registered testing pool can still be subject to testing, but I've only seen that in-competition. Athletes are notified that they are in the pool for out of competition testing, as they have to give their whereabouts info to their sport's governing body. They need to provide their location in a daily hour long window. Usually your home address first thing in the morning, so you know you'll be there. If you are travelling for competition or training etc, you need to submit your updated locations. If you don't update & the testers come knocking, if you're not where your form says you'd be that counts as a missed test. But mistakes happen - athletes forget to update whereabouts; testers go to wrong location etc. This is why it is only after the THIRD missed test in 12 MONTHS does it count as a doping violation & you get banned. Right there is exactly why Danijela should NOT be banned. She has missed ONLY ONE test! I don't see the point of CrossFit testing her in the first place for the reasons Hiller mentioned, but if they insist on it they need to give her another opportunity to do the test!

The concept of Cross Fit is really a great thing with the potential to be a genuine marketable sport comprable to NHL NFL MLB NBA etc. But it appears to be run by clowns who sabatage themselves at every turn. They seem to be blinded by the limited success they do experience and therefore fail to make the necessary changes to take the sport to the next level. It is like watching someone who owns a Bugatti Bolide going mud bogging, rather than useing the vehicle to its ultimate potential. Between this and deciding that adaptive athletes suddenly can't compete, I really hope they get a few thousand less registrations for the open next year. And I still don't buy the whole "it's a way to track your progress so non competitors should do it" thing. Benchmark workouts are a way to do that, main lifts are too. And they work better. Is a move from 5000th place to 4900th a 100 place improvement, or a 0.04% improvement? Or nothing at all because the tests are all different?

CrossFit will say that there serious about drug testing, but this seriously puts that into question. Why spend the money for a random drug test of the age group qualifier, what would be better to do this for semi finalists before they get there. There’s so much wasted energy and time of people getting drug tested and failing after they’ve been on the podium or qualified, so why not just do this ahead of time? It makes you wonder if a PR company owns CrossFit… wait 🤔🤔. Let media for money to keep people on staff, but plenty of money to randomly test a age group person who isn’t competing.
