@codyc45552 жыл бұрын
It seems like for sure it use to be very prevalent at a high level. I think the way the athletes at the top look very different compared to athletes look now. They use to be way bigger, not sure if thats a change in expectations of fitness or they dont get away with it as much. If there are PED's I'm not sure it would be steroids. It would likely be more new age stuff.

I watched a video of Lee Haney about 2 years ago now. He was talking about his association with the Evander Hollyfield. He said that he started to help train Hollyfield. Lee Haney said, Hollyfield gained 35 pounds of muscle within 5 weeks. When I heard him say that, I knew that that could only be done with the use of PEDs. I had always wondered. Then I knew.

Rich Froning saying he weighs 187lbs in one of his latest videos. During his peak he weighed 205-207. That’s a 20lb drop in weight for someone who was already lean. Seems fishy.

@trevorgentry45782 жыл бұрын
Well this is false and/or missing details. He’s been in the mid to upper 190’s for many years now. At his peak individual career he may have cracked 200 but he was also eating like crap then in 2014 and earlier. He slimmed down this off season because he was doing a ton of endurance training, very clean eating, and going on long hunts. He absolutely has not dropped 20lbs recently or in a short amount of time. He dropped 7-10lbs max. And that’s not hard to do at all when you cut back on heavy Oly lifting, do intermittent fasting and lots of endurance training for 6 months. There’s nothing “fishy” about that. And he’s also quite a bit leaner now than when he was competing as an individual 7 years ago which again, isn’t hard to do when you change up your nutrition from literal junk food to more clean eating combined with intermittent fasting.
@rawperformance16142 жыл бұрын
@@trevorgentry4578 in the Only Three Crossfit Games documentary Rich says he weighed 204-205 the year before he started doing a lot more endurance work. I’ll bet Rich just like every other person on this Earth blemished a little bit about his weight and probably weighed a little closer to 210lbs. Let’s take his word for it though he still went from 205lbs at his peak probably at 9-10% body fat to 187lbs probably 8-9% body fat now. That’s still a 18lb difference in weight. That’s definitely fishy for someone who has been lean his whole life.

Hey just one note- tendons and ligaments are responsive to hormones in a similar way as muscle. Tendons and muscle are basically inseparable- musculotendinous units. The argument that muscles respond faster than tendons is not entirely true. The rate of injury could be either the person prepped using drugs then came off of the substance that was supporting their recovery from hard ass training OR they’ve really mismanaged their training program (volume + intensity is too high etc). I think in the case of a highly driven CrossFit athlete who is most certainly using all the way through contest- it’s probably a matter of them pushing things too hard. Great content man. I’m being very nitpicky here lol your observations are on point.

Not true about the cycles. You're talking about mass usage for bodybuilding. What Crossfit people are on are SARMS, Clenbuterol, Testosterone. These things aren't killing your kidneys and liver like say Dianabol, or Trenbalone. When you do run a cycle its because your body will get use to the dosage and you need to reset so you're not taking huge doses. The main thing they use them for is Red Blood Cells and Recovery. They obviously can move a lot of weight but its the Engines that they develop along with NO RECOVERY TIME! So yes I would say along with most people who even know a little bit about PEDs is they are all on some kind of PED.

My only thing is what constitutes the application of the word ‘drug’ This has been a nefarious and wildly misused word in culture to the detriment of health. I think PEDs should be simply be called what they are anabolics or hormones. Not all anabolics were created or even utilized as performance enhancing materials and whilst using them as such for competition is problematic, what that does is obscure the holistic understanding of them.
@hillerfit2 жыл бұрын
Yes drug has a negative connotation and I do not think that should be the case. Most were created to put off muscle wasting in hospital patients. The sporting crowd just found out that they were good for much more than that. Some abused that knowledge, and then the media bastardized it for that reason.
