Imagine telling your customer to go ask another dealer for 2k off and then to come back so theyll price match and maybe give an extra $200 off. Why reward the dealer that wasted time? Why even go back at all when the second dealer will do it right now? It's a dumb negotiating tactic by the dealer.

Any other purchase process would never tell your customer to go to a competitor and price you out of the sell. It's freaking madness how you have to jump through hoops to get a reasonable price on a vehicle.

Why screw over the salesman and let him make $200 bucks off the deal when he doesn't even know just cause you want $2k off? The thing is, people think they are the ONLY person that can buy said car. If you can't buy it gull price I promise someone else will. Just like customers don't like their time wasted, neither do the salesmen.

@matthewl.424 If it's a trash salesmen yeah, but this isn't gonna worked on a seasoned one. I'll just sell the car to someone else. I don't know why we think it's ok to tell a salesman to lose money directly on a deal that directly affects the money he brings home. Go back to your job and your boss tells you you're not gonna get paid the whole week but you gotta do all the work anyway so enjoy. If you can't afford said vehicle then get a cheaper one and quit expecting dealerships to MAKE it affordable for you. You can't go literally anywhere else and ask them to lower the price by 1000s of dollars and they actually do it. This car too much per month for you? There are cheaper ones available. Love within your means and stop screwing people that work hard

What about the bonuses for meeting and beating quota? What about manufacturer incentives? This is a numbers game in the end. And good luck with this tact. As the market shifts dealerships have begun to lose their stranglehold on the process. Watch the brands make sub brands that are direct to consumer and then you won’t have any sales. You have such a simplistic view of this entire process. Deals that seemingly don’t make sense to little baby salesman like yourself happen everyday.

I could not get the dealer to give me an OTD price over the phone. I told them I needed the amount for the check I was bringing in. We had already agreed on MSRP with them throwing in an auto start. The reason was, they wanted to go back in to sales mode with all the extra add on crap like fabric protectant, paint sealants, etc. when I showed up. When I arrived to pick up the car, they spent another 45 minutes pushing the add ons. Finally they gave up, and I wrote a personal check for the car. They reminded me of time share salesmen.

Exactly. Many dealers still have that 1960s/1970s sales mentality, and getting you in the door (physically present) is what it is all about. Once you are there, they have the advantage, and they will play hardball, not negotiate, and so on. I heard at least a dozen "industry sales phrases" from this guy. Each sales person develops a script that works for them, but many use the same phrases, based on keywords that a buyer says.
@ward7voter111

I just found your channel and have watched the last six months worth of videos. While I have never been in car sales, I am a car guy (have been my entire life) and have bought and sold my fair share of vehicles. Like you, I do my research and know what is out there, where it is, and know what a dealer can and cannot do on price, well before I contact them. I haven't bought a new car locally, in the 30 years that I have lived in this town, simply because the dealers don't want to negotiate. Why you ask? Because there are a TON of people who walk in and pay whatever price the dealer tells them. They don't negotiate, they don't know what the vehicle is worth, what incentives the dealer is getting back from the manufacture, etc. The dealers make a KILLING on these people and don't want to deal with people like me, who are informed and know, and want the best price. The line "You won't find a dealer that will give it to you for that price" is one of my favorites. In 2019, a local dealer had a Pacifica that we were interested in. I went in, asked for their best price, and they gave me MSRP. I said "No, what is a realistic price that you can sell it for, make a reasonable profit, and one where I can feel good about the price too." - They knocked off $500. At that point, I told them what I was willing to pay (approx. $3000 below MSRP) and explained to the salesman why, showing the rebates, incentives, etc. that they were getting, as well as pointing out the price that the dealership actually was paying for the vehicle (all of this information is available online and what isn't can be calculated if you know what you are doing.... it just takes time.). The general manager lost it (literally was screaming at me, used the above line, and when I walked out, he had one of their guys park a dealer car behind mine, so that I couldn't leave. Needless to say, I called the police and reported that the business was preventing me from leaving (essentially holding me hostage/kidnapping) because I wouldn't tell the manager what he wanted to know (he thought one of his employees gave me the numbers/inside scoop). After I was able to leave, I went home, called a dealer 3 hours away, with the exact same spec Pacifica, and then emailed them some information and they agreed to sell to us for the price I had given the local dealer. My wife and I made the trip to that dealer the next day about bought the vehicle. The Toyota dealer that wouldn't even take $5 off reminds me of our local Toyota dealer. I was helping one of our new employees find a car. They have moved here from New York City, where they didn't need a car, but here is more urban rural, and a car is a must have. They wanted a certain make/model Toyota, and a certain color. We went to the local dealer, they had the make/model, but the only one on the lot was an undesirable color (which is why it was still on the lot). We asked if they could get him what they wanted, and the dealer went down the "it will have to be built and could take several months" hole, when I asked if they could find one and trade with another dealer (I already knew where 3 were). They "explored" that option and then came back with a price $1000 over MSRP. Then $950 over MSRP. I told my coworker to keep "negotiating" and don't agree to anything, and I would be right back. - I went out to my van, called a dealer I knew fairly well, and explained the situation and then asked for their best price (of vehicle and out the door). After getting those numbers and writing them down, I told them that we or the local dealer would call them back in the next half hour. I went back in, showed my coworker the numbers, and said "Offer the $500 more than the out the door price." He did, the salesman ran back to the manager, and they came back with a price of $1200 more than that. I said "Let's walk." As we walked out, the manager came running up and asked why were were leaving "because we are only a little bit away." I turned to him and said "He was willing to tell you where to get what he wants, what dealer to talk to, and give you $500 to go get it, and you want another $1200 on top of that. I'll drive him to that dealer for free and he will save $1700." We called the other dealer (an hour north of us) and told them to hold the car, we could come up after work the next night, and buy it. - We did, and it was EASY for my coworker. The comments that people make about "Why hire this guy." and "This is easy... anyone could do it." are uninformed or don't get it. Q:) Why hire this guy. A1) Many people don't enjoy the car buying experience and don't want the hassle. - Heck, even as a car guy, I usually hate the experience/game. A2) Many people don't have the time to research online and then go from dealer to dealer trying to make a deal. - You have to remember, most dealers are stuck in the 1960s and 1970s sales mentality that you must come into the dealership, despite ecommerce options for over 20 years. Even those who advertise "online buying experience" still want to insist on you coming in. Us being physically present is to their advantage, not ours. Delivrd and others like them, do that work for you. A3) Many people don't know how to negotiate, how to understand the legalese, and how to catch the "accidental" add on fees. Having someone well versed in this, like Delivrd, gives them peace of mind and takes some of the anxiety out of the process. A4) Many people are afraid to "walk away" from a deal, because they are emotionally attached to the make/model/color/options/etc. that they are wanting to buy. Services like Delivrd aren't emotionally attached. They will hang up and call another dealer for you, in order to try and get you the best deal. C:) This is easy... anyone could do it. A1) Yes, "anyone could do it." but how much time are you willing to spend to do the research, send the emails, make the phone calls, etc. You are paying someone to take HOURS (I typically spend 40 to 50 hours before I buy a car, and most of those hours are spent searching for the vehicle we want. People like Delivrd, who do this for a living, build a list of dealers that they can/can't do business with and get to know who is likely to have what a customer wants. My 40 hours of research is probably shortened to 4 or 5, and my 10 hours of emails/phone calls is probably down to an hour or two for them. So, how much is your time worth? - Personally, I don't mind the research, but the emails/phone call phase is frustrating, because most dealers are stuck in the "when can you come in, and we will talk." sales model. I have very little patience for that. A2) This really isn't "easy" work. Delivrd and others make it look easy, because they have the knowledge, experience, and skills to do that. I can think of dozens of people that I know, who would NEVER say half the things Delivrd says, simply because they are straight forward and to the point. Many people are "professionally nice" and beat around the bush, rather than asking the hard question, outright. I get it, they are anxious and intimidated by the car buying process (and other situations where negotiation is part of the deal), and they don't want to say/do the wrong thing. A3) "Easy yes, but for many people it isn't easy to "walk away" from a deal. They are emotionally attached to the make/model/color/options/etc. that they are wanting to buy, which results in them compromising on price or vehicle choice. Services like Delivrd aren't emotionally attached. They will hang up and call another dealer for you, in order to try and get you the best deal.

Dealerships are just greedy pigs at the trough. The salesperson knows 2K off is doable and even admits it, but you have to prove it to get any movement on price. He could be telling the truth in that his sales manager won't give a discount unless there is a quote from another dealership or some other sort of "justification." In a lot of cases, having a salesman willing to sell his manager on a price is pretty important. How many times have you seen on this channel a salesman who will drag their feet not wanting to take a number to the manager, saying they'll never accept it, but when we finally hear from a manager, they accept almost instantly.

He's ripping people off before they even set foot in a dealership. Paying $1k because you can't make 3 phones calls and be inconvenienced slightly is the height of laziness and stupidity. These are the people buying cars and the reason why prices are so high. Even if he gets a small discount these dealers know there is a sea of people waiting to overpay.

Im sorry what? You are saying me charging 1k to negotiate is the reason prices are high? Bit of a stretch. But people value their time my friend, thats why people hire me. I don't advertise this as a way to save money, I teach people on this channel on how to do this. People don't want to deal with the dealerships. Its not about being lazy but value their time. People spend money to save time all the time. Im assuming you have gone out to eat before. Should we call you lazy because you couldn't make your own dinner?

Did Tomi get the $2000.00 off? Highly unlikely. Yes I am making an assumption. No second video.

We just uploaded the video today, but yes we ended up getting 2300 off. But its not from this dealership. The whole video is on Tiktok

@@Delivrd nice work. Question: were you asking for 2K off the MSRP or the “today’s best price” that you get when you fill out the online form (the price that’s usually already about 2K off)?

Lol, this salesman is a dummy... You already told Tomi you will give more than 2k off. But trying to make them run around town getting quoted just means they are gonna go shop somehwere else

@@Delivrd I thought $0 was the price, and you make your living from the money you save on the deals. My broker got me a 4Runner for $5K less than I expected to pay, and that's after her fee. I have no idea how much she pocketed, but I hope it was more than $1K.

@@zzanatos2001 I don't get any money from the dealership or the savings. I am not a broker. I negotiate the best deal for my client, a broker will negotiate the best deal for themselves that also makes sense for the client. Brokers aren't bad, but lack of transparency I don't love. Had a broker charge a 5k fee to a dealer before.
