The band was formed in 1966 but went through several member changes before winding up with the vocals of Kevin Cronin and guitar of Gary Richrath who were the backbone of the band for years to come.

I'd have to say Golden Country is a better highlight of musical skills than Roll With the Changes. Not to start an argument, but Golden Country has shades of soft and loud, fast and slow, and a massive amount of fast guitar riffs played in tandem. Skill. That said, Roll is a better venue to experience Cronin, and certainly catchier. I was a fan for life after hearing Time For Me to Fly.

Fun Fact: When REO was promoting a Wal-Mart "exclusive album., Find Your Own Way Home, they set in the diaper aisle of my local store. They played 5 or 6 songs as if they were playing to an arena instead of the 100 or so of us who were there. They had a meet and great afterwards, I've been to many concerts but this ranks as one of my favorites.

Yeah, REO is deep rabbit hole. This song grew in popularity because it is that good. REO Speedwagon is a testament to perseverance. They just kept playing and writing and working until no one could deny them anymore. They started in the late 60s; by the 80s they were superstars with hit after hit after hit song. I consider Gary Richrath to be one of the best guitarists that has ever lived. Go listen to the solo from "Take it On the Run". It's a masterpiece.

This band and song got a major boost in recent years because they were featured in the Netflix series "Ozark," which was very popular (the band even made a brief apparance). "Time for me to fly" also used in the show. I think they had been largely forgotten until that happened. Lots of changes in the band lineup over the years. Some are dead now.

After The Beatles inspired a generation of musicians in the '60s, there was a musical explosion that reverberated for over 20 years, where incredible music was being released on a near daily basis. There was so much great music coming out that some songs, like this one, flew a bit under the radar; however, those of us who listened to album oriented Rock radio, knew this song well. You should check out their their big hit, the live version of "Ridin' the Storm Out." It's amazing. The album version is also amazing, but the band had a different lead singer for that album and, even though the singer sounds great, the live version, with Kevin Cronin, is now the definitive version.

I don't know that I trust searching KZbin that way because having been around as a kid when this music was popular and having seen them in concert, I can tell you that this song and others were on the radio all the time. This was an immensely popular song. And not only that, the live version is iconic as well, Gary Richrath on guitar is a real treat, rest in peace buddy. I have found that it gets even more unreliable to older the music gets, because it doesn't reflect how popular was because KZbin wasn't even around back then. And there could be a video that's been up for a long time that has a lot more views, and then there might be another one that has been posted of something old more recently and so it doesn't have his much circulation yet, and so forth. And then again there's the live version and so forth. The song was extremely popular.
