Patrick I’m a random Spanish guy. My wife left me after 25 years for a younger man when she lost weight via surgery. Lived in my car for a few months. It’s a long story but I’m back in a house and my life while lonely is better in every other way. I can relate when you say, that you have found peace. I totally believe you, I dated a man who was so much like you, brilliant, charismatic, just an awesome man. Very wealthy at one time but lost it all to alcoholism. He went for several yrs sober but started drinking again and died from a head injury from falling in the shower. He was only 58. I love your videos because you remind me of him. God bless you 🙏. Been sober now almost 2 years and have wholeheartedly embraced honesty in my recovery. After 20 years of heroin addiction I am so blessed and grateful that I have good health now and my family is so supportive. I enrolled in my community college to become a certified drug and alcohol counselor. As I have gotten 4 years of therapy and besides my family has helped me tremendously. Very sorry to hear about your friend. Addiction robs so much and it will never stop taking. You are a compassionate, empathetic, and kind intelligent person. God bless you 🙏

I’m 66. Been sober 20 months. Lots of aches and pains , but feels great to be sober. I drank since I was a teenager. Many things led me to stopping drinking, but primarily it was the birth of my beautiful granddaughter. Her arrival also contributed to me selling my beloved Harley Davidson. I felt I had to take some steps to BE HERE to watch her grow up. My beautiful wife and I just celebrated 39 years of marriage. She tolerated my drinking for over 40 years. I was a functioning alcoholic. Had a successful contracting business. I roughly calculated how much money I spent drinking, at home, going to restaurants and bars. I’m ashamed to admit it’s probably 100k. Wish I had that money , but looking back is pointless. Better late than never. My circle of “ friends “ has changed, for the better and I DONT MISS the hangovers. I’ll never drink again life is good. I enjoy your videos. I give you credit for baring it all. Take care my friend.
@garrykennedy5484
@garrykennedy5484 Ай бұрын
I sometimes wish I got hangovers. I only drink 2 or maybe 3 times a week. So it's not too bad, and I function well enough. It's not like I don't have a good day after it, and if I NEED to, I get things done, but if I don't need to,,, I take the day for myself. A LOT of wasted days for that unless you consider taking time for yourself to relax a good thing, which most of the time I feel I deserve, but the others,,,, wasted. My few friends tell me I'm fine and that I'm not an alcoholic, but I consider myself as one. Be it a smaller one than most. I can say that I love drinking, but I can also say that my life would probably be better without it. Am I just feeling guilty for those that are worse for it than I am? That's my big question I guess. I truly don't know. 58 YO now.

In 1990 I was bankrupt in the UK - I was only a young man then, but the shame of it took a lot out or me. Laid on the sofa for three days pondering life and then in a raw moment I thought … shit I better get off the sofa I had two young boys and a wife to take care of. My wife was just 18 and I 20 when we married. She has been by my side everyday since. My greatest critic, mentor and motivator. The love of my life. Clearly you too have a wonderful powerful woman by your side. I suspect you like me probably realise that we are among the most lucky of men to have found such beautiful women to be part of our lives. Take care love to you both.

I know what you mean about mean comments. I wrote a book years ago and people can be heartless in the privacy of their own home. Poisonous, really. But you know who you are, so hang on to that. There is a quote that i have printed out on my wall: Worry about your character and not your reputation, because your character is who you are, and your reputation is only what people think of you.❤

Don't let these people get to you... Unfortunately a few people can't spot honesty. Your video's are very interesting. Keep up the good work. You are special, don't knock yourself. This level of honesty is intimate. I hope you both have a great weekend.

Patrick, I'm watching your vids for the first time. It's always jarring when you expose your true self and anyone (especially friends/family) doubts you. Thank you.

The algorithm brought me here. My late Uncle was alcoholic, lost everything, turned his life around in his mid forties, got married, had a family and lived happily ( and sober) until he was 88. Also a close friend of mine was alcoholic when I met him 20 years ago, he squandered his inheritance, he’s now in his mid forties and has been sober for over 9 months and going strong 💪🏼. Best wishes on your journey from a new subscriber.

Hi Patrick, thank you for posting this. You and I have betrayal in common but mine is a story of family betrayal with a covert narcissistic mother who prevented me from reaching my full potential and after caring for her for the last ten years (no income), she disinherited me as she slipped further into dementia in favor of 3 brothers who all live in another state. But, you give me hope that everything will be fine and i can build a new life...whatever that means. 52 single woman, Never married. If you need more content I'd love to hear about your wife's beauty and fitness routine! Thx.

I don't know you, your video just popped up. You have a great positive attitude, money gained and lost is of no consequence. It's how you live your life and treat others and your gratitude shows. Most marriages crumble when the going gets rough. Best wishes for you both.❤❤❤
