I’m 66. Been sober 20 months. Lots of aches and pains , but feels great to be sober. I drank since I was a teenager. Many things led me to stopping drinking, but primarily it was the birth of my beautiful granddaughter. Her arrival also contributed to me selling my beloved Harley Davidson. I felt I had to take some steps to BE HERE to watch her grow up. My beautiful wife and I just celebrated 39 years of marriage. She tolerated my drinking for over 40 years. I was a functioning alcoholic. Had a successful contracting business. I roughly calculated how much money I spent drinking, at home, going to restaurants and bars. I’m ashamed to admit it’s probably 100k. Wish I had that money , but looking back is pointless. Better late than never. My circle of “ friends “ has changed, for the better and I DONT MISS the hangovers. I’ll never drink again life is good. I enjoy your videos. I give you credit for baring it all. Take care my friend.
@garrykennedy5484Ай бұрын
I sometimes wish I got hangovers. I only drink 2 or maybe 3 times a week. So it's not too bad, and I function well enough. It's not like I don't have a good day after it, and if I NEED to, I get things done, but if I don't need to,,, I take the day for myself. A LOT of wasted days for that unless you consider taking time for yourself to relax a good thing, which most of the time I feel I deserve, but the others,,,, wasted. My few friends tell me I'm fine and that I'm not an alcoholic, but I consider myself as one. Be it a smaller one than most. I can say that I love drinking, but I can also say that my life would probably be better without it. Am I just feeling guilty for those that are worse for it than I am? That's my big question I guess. I truly don't know. 58 YO now.

I don't know you, your video just popped up. You have a great positive attitude, money gained and lost is of no consequence. It's how you live your life and treat others and your gratitude shows. Most marriages crumble when the going gets rough. Best wishes for you both.❤❤❤
