What a different conversation about a transfer of ownership. It's sooo funny!!! I love the most recent Outremers- starting with the '49, of which many designs have evolved from. The seller is fabulous, understands exactly what you are attempting to do, and genuinely wants his original O49 to continue on a working life with competent & able sailors. I too, would be thrilled to watch my baby weekly!!! What EVERYONE wanted- a fair price - reflects required maintenance & existing repair needs, with the ability to add solar, H2O maker, LiFePO4 batteries, etc. I love the prior owner, hope he stays w/ the channel!!! (I totally understand that he's too busy on the water to use/watch YT!!! 😄

Mast is 76 ft. above the waterline, carries 1,426 sq. ft. of sail, displaces 22K pounds, built in 2010-2012, 2 Yanmar diesels. So many brands have been eliminated, including Catana, Outremer is the logical remainder, thanks to Jason and Claudia you found an excellent big Outremer. Congratulations.

Seems like quite the outcome. Some very wise words. If you know boats, you know they are never ready to just sail away. They require maintenance and upkeep forever. Where you are in that cycle when you buy is the important part. We sold our beautiful boat to a couple we thought were the ones (first in with deposit). They took out equipment and sold pieces of it. Changed all the line handling to a rats nest. Then sold it on. It was sad, but the three very experienced previous owners had put a lot of thought and work into making the boat easy and comfortable to sail. It ended up with gaffa tape covering holes where instruments and winches used to be etc. That's how they liked it. I almost cry myself to sleep over leaving that Southern Stainless barbeque on board.

Great to see you sorted, and of real interest to me to see this catamaran again. Many years ago, i was looking for my first catamaran, and ended up at La Grande Motte to take part in Outremer's annual sailing regatta. When there, I, like everybody else, was given a tour of the factory, the highlight of which was the newly started construction of hull number 1 of the very first of the Outremer 49's. During the racing, I made friends with one guy, sorry name forgotten, who, as a result of our racing, immediately put in an order for the new catamaran, hazy memory even suggesting he ended up with hull number one. So, if John's ( And soon yours) 49er is actually number one, it is amazing to see the same yacht on the other side of the world, that I was wandering about inside its bare hulls, way back around 2009/2010. Great catamarans, and super delighted you have got where you wanted to be.

My wife and I have been privileged to have spent time aboard Alidade with John, cruising the Whitsundays having adventures we’ll never forget.
