Great song and great reaction. And Ren is proving masterful again with his voice. In addition to all the obvious influences, in the beginning I couldn't help but being reminded of The Zombies. I know, it's weird because no one will probably ever heard of this band nowadays but a bit of the style in Ren's delivery of the first few lines gave me throwback vibes. And who knows, Ren is familiar with so many styles of music so he might have even heard of the obscurest of the obscure.

Yes! I thought of Smokey too and was surprised when none of the reactors mentioned the Smokey vibe. I love that Ren has been inspired by so many artists in a wide variety of musical genres and can't be put in any musical box. It really makes him stand out in a time when a lot of the mainstream music is written by committee, is often over produced and auto tuned, stripping the music (overall) of individuality. It’s great that Ren doesn't alter his music to be technically perfect now for note, so we get unique performances each time that shine with his artistic expression and emotion.

Although in 74 I was just a wee bearded Bill and I was probably rocking back and forth on my plastic horsey. You know, the one on four springs and the metal frame. I have medication treatment underway for CKD, so am slow with everything, and haven’t been keeping up with KZbin, but finally listened to Back on 74/Message in a Bottle, and can’t stop! I’m sure you’re familiar with Maynard James Keenan and Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer, right? I would love for Ren to go in Maynard’s direction-a different band for each of his different vibes. Solo/paired with special collabs Ren, Ren and the Big Push, and Ren with this particular group of soul-vibe supporting artists! I’d love albums and tours from all 3 different flavors. Speaking of Maynard’s Puscifer-of course check them out if you’re not familiar, but if you are, I HIGHLY recommend reacting to his female background vocalist, Carina Round. She has excellent solo music from When she first came to the US from The uk. I heard her back in 2011 when she first came here and thought to myself-she sounds like a female Maynard. I felt so vindicated when he ended up swooping her up for his Puscifer project! The only downside is that she then stopped releasing solo music, though I’m so happy for her. I can make some specific song recommendations if you like.
