How this thing is so cheap I will never know. You are getting 90% of the latest tech (bar perhaps the AI stuff) for half the price of the newest version. It has a crazy display, brilliant performance, a crazy powerful camera, and all the bells and whistles of a premium smartphone in 2024. This is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra long-term review in 2024.

Same here, I might try out Iphone SE4 when it gets out, only to have a smaller phone in pocket sometimes, and to have airdrop from my mac to phone so I can upload social media videos and photos for my brand. Also, I like seeing that Apple will finally give more than a decent phone as a SE model.

Kinda wish I kept my S23 Ultra 1TB but it was a great price on trade in for my S24 Ultra, so I couldn't resist. No regrets, but both phones, my S24 Ultra 1TB is a great phone, literally the S23 Ultra with some small improvements (like every year I guess). The anti glare and flat screen compared to the S23 Ultra are both welcomed changes that I prefer.

@Joeeye123 I did have a good look at the S24 ultra and liked it. But even till now, do not feel it's worth spending any money on, even with a good trade deal. The flatter screen and anti glare just isn't worth losing the S23 ultra masterpiece and some money for. It really isn't. Tbh, the slight curve on the S23 ultra is no issue at all. Not intrusive. I don't mind flat or curved. Both have their qualities. I actually miss the designs of the S10 models. I had the S105g. Still to this day, think it was Samsungs best ever designs. So good in the hand.

You won't believe me but I prefer the S23 Ultra over the S24 Ultra. The camera difference is so minor like you mentioned. I might get a photo here and there that I might prefer only I mean only if I put them side to side and stare close. But I love the photos on the S23 Ultra. Second is the weight of the 2. The S23 Ultra is lighter, I know it's not much on paper but the weight distribution I'm guessing is noticeable in hand. The battery life was so much better on the S24 ultra in the begining but after the updates I don't know what happened that it's actually worse than my S23 Ultra. So I'm very happy with the S23 Ultra and it's currently my main phone with no regrets.

@@MuhammadFirdaus-wo6mz it's not lighter, it's a super tad heavier if you look at the spec sheet. It feels heavier and it might be in the distribution of the components. This is absolutely the right idea. I'm using a oneplus 8 since June 2020, just got the battery replaced last week, and it still does everything a user of a £1300 phone would want to do on their phone daily at 1/10th of the price if bought today. I'm well aware it's objectively inferior to current flagships but it still flies through modern apps, battery lasts almost 2 days, display looks pristine and magnificent, plenty of storage available, so there's really nothing to upgrade for other than being stuck on android 13 with April 2024 security patch for the rest of its life. The phone's a masterpiece. I'd love to custom rom it but I don't want to risk bricking a perfectly good phone or losing payment and banking features.
@ThatYahoo

OnePlus phones are made with Custom ROMs in mind. You will not lose access to banking, I guarantee. I have been using a Nothing Phone 2 for the past 6 months, got a "custom" ROM on it (I wiped the original rom for a custom then got back and the phone thinks it is a custom one) and while rooted I can use banking and all that stuff. I rooted it after my switch, because the banking apps thought I had a custom ROM. KernelSU is the best way to root a phone. Do some research, keep exploring, flash a ROM and be happy, brother. Trust me, you will thank me later.

In my opinion it is a great value, but, I had the S22 Ultra and the main 2 reasons I upgraded to the S24 Ultra was the flat display and more storage than what I had. I like to keep my phones in pristine condition for years to come, and tempered glass screen protectors are a nightmare on curved displays. Soon the S24 Ultra will go down on price cause of the S25 Ultra in January. If I was on the market for an S23 Ultra now, I would wait a couple of months for the S24 Ultra to come down in price.

@aditya_on_youtube
@aditya_on_youtube Ай бұрын
I agree that flat screens are better when it comes to screen protectors. But with a wide phone like the S23 Ultra, it makes the phone so much nice to hold. I went to the Samsung store to check the S24 Ultra and compared to S23 Ultra. The S23 Ultra definitely felt more premium. I got the S23 Ultra at a huge discount last week for the equivalent of 650 pounds on Amazon India, brand new 256GB 12 gigs model. The reason for considering the S24 Ultra was the new anti reflective screen and 7 yrs of updates. With a screen protector the anti reflective properties become moot.
@gamingtechandbeyond

@aditya_on_youtube I can respect that. But to each their own. Like I said I personally had the S22 Ultra with a curved edge display same as the S23 Ultra, and one of the main reasons I upgraded was the flat display. I don't miss the curved display. I hated it back on the Galaxy S8, I hated it on the S22 Ultra. I prefer flat displays. But like I said to each their own. If you love it, great. I just don't.

The "curved" screen is such a deal breaker for me as it is hard to apply additional protector, and if the phone accidentally fell into the side it would break the whole screen and might render it unusable. You're more right than you know. We are at a point where there isn't that much change year to year. I've even bought two year old flagships for 2 or $300 that are plenty fast and powerful for daily typical use. I'm really not a fan of buying second-hand though. Nobody's going to take better care of a phone than I am. So I'd much rather buy new, once you get into outdated models the premium isn't that significant anyway. The problem with a phone like the 23 ultra even when he made this video is those phones or desirable new, and were still desirable a year later. In the United States sellers know this and price their used models accordingly, to the point it doesn't make any sense to me to pay 5 or 600 bucks for a used one, especially with s24 Ultras now down around 900 for a brand new one in the box. Also, we don't know what's going to happen with Samsung ai and the rumors of monthly charges tab access to those features and keep the phone you know running as it is.

Even though it's risky buying a used foldable, the Flip series can be bought for relatively cheap compared to other used phones. I got a Flip4 256GB for about $280 back in January. The screen on it had obviously been replaced, but it started fracturing only about 3 months into using it 😭. It still works with no dead pixels or screen issues, but for those who want a cheap foldable and acknowledge the risk, they're pretty cheap.

i'm still rocking my s23 ultra. the only thing i'd change on the s23 ultra is i would like the flat display with improved scratch resistance from the s24u. but i actually prefer the camera config & the SD8 gen 2 on the s23 ultra, it's more power efficient. the sd8 gen 3 can peak higher in performance but it produces more heat and gets throttled more, so is less consistent. for the price difference the s24u is not worth the "upgrade" imo, even though i would MUCH prefer a flat display. i won't be upgrading to any new samsung phones until they use a display without PWM or at least 1900+ hz PWM. the low frequency PWM displays give me headaches. if samsung doesn't get with the program and ditch the low PWM i might eventually switch to one of the oneplus phones instead.

The S23 Ultra is a fantastic phone, which I had for about a year. Its super fast, has great battery life, and its cameras (including its 200mp mode) are incredible and took about 70gb of amazing photos during a trip to Italy. But I think the extra 3 years of support for the s24 ultra, along with its arguably more useful 5x lens (though to be fair I didn't know that the difference at 100x was that different. I thought at worst it was marginally worse at 100x and equal between 10-50x) and more durable chassis + overall much more efficient processor and longer lasting battery do make it a worthy upgrade, especially since it's also dropped below $900 USD in recent times. I don't have the S24 Ultra, but I wanted to get it soon (until the Vivo x200 Pro/Mini came out, now I may want to import one of those instead - absolutely incredible phone). The S23 Ultra was definitely better than my replacement Pixel 8 Pro though aside from hand feel. The software additions (pretty much just the fixed AOD) and the even bezels would be enough for me to want to upgrade, but I'm just weird like that

One of my friend S21 ultra get Green Line despite him being gentle with the phone. So If you buy Second make sure to consider the unseen cost of the screen replacement due to the Green Line issue. I'm not saying S23 ultra will get green line but be aware since Samsung haven't fixed or offer some sorts of replacement to existing users with that issue. Even Oneplus acknowledge this issue and offer free-of-charge services in many regions.

From S23U, been 2 weeks using S24U and I must say S24U fluidity is musg better. Camera is thesame in everyday use. The main difference is the 5G compatability. My S23U can go allway True 5G in my common areas, but S24U struggles and opts to use 5G/LTE which is a slower. Still, would prefer S24U than S23U.

This may actually be a feature on the s24. Haven't had a Samsung in years but Adaptive 5G is a thing. When not using a lot of bandwidth the phone opts to use less power by switching off 5G. I'm surprised the s23 ultra you had DIDN'T have it. Did you keep up with updates?

Would make more sense to wait till the S25 Ultra comes out. The prices of S24 Ultra would drop. WIth the S24 Ultra you'd get more RAM, that Anti-Reflective Coating, and of course, 7 years of OS Upgrades.

S23 ultra user here this was definitely worth it over the 24 ultra the 8k footage from camera is incredible the display is amazing the performance is great for anything I need to do and battery last whole day easily the only downside is overheating with some games but that's expected on mobile devices in general

I'm never getting a traditional candy bar phone again. Foldables are my go to option now. I never liked how phones were getting so much heavier than past ones but having a pocketable tablet make the extra weight justifiable. The sharp edges on the Galaxys are also a turnoff. Watching from my Mi Mix Fold 3.

I bought this phone brand new for 875usd which I think is pretty good. I love it, but damm do I hate the curved display. I attempted 2 UV tempered glass installs and one went worse than the other. Took the thing off and after two months I have a small groove in my screen. I'm now using a shitty hydrogel while I wait before hopefully not wasting 20 bucks for a third attempt. Avoid curved screens at all costs

I had an S22 Ultra. It was mostly great, but too large for comfort in the pocket. Too heavy to comfortably carry while running. Replaced it with an S24. Other than being the perfect size, it is a little bit worse in every way. And the flat screen, that is a lot better than the curved edges on every Samsung flagship since the S7. Whoever decided to keep using curved edge displays for so many generations needs to be flogged. Impossible to use without a case.

Curved screen is definitely a no no for me, fitting glass falls off easier, causes more friction with back cover, then glue under curves catches a lot of dirt and glass screen protectors are better than any film.
