This looks awesome, great review! This lens looks amazing. I know this is nitpicking but I wish the lens was 24-50. It could replace a lot more primes that way. Incredibly groundbreaking nonetheless and looks really tempting!

I've been thinking about finally getting some cine lenses for my fp, but I might just go with this! Looks like it could easily fit into a cine rig and the click switch, internal zoom, and decent size are all huge bonuses there

as usual the sigmas struggle in the area of focus breathing and linear repeatable focus / par focal ability - great for photographers though!

True, but I WILL say they have made L mount cameras able to switch to linear focusing and determine the focus throw. Still not perfect, but helps a lot.

I thought the minimum focusing distance was very good, I was able to get really close to my subjects

Maybe an odd comparison, but how do you feel it compares to the sigma Contemporary 28-70mm for a compact style FP rig (basically Sony NP-f battery plate and an ssd holder)? Of course the f2.8 vs 1.8 is gonna be a difference for low light and depth of field, but right now I mostly carry the ttartisans 21mm f1.5 and the sigma kit 45mm f2.8, and I've never found the 45mm lacking in DoF. I had the chance to use the 28-70 for some filming and the size just felt really right and perfect, and the performance was really great for video. I would worry the new 28-45 1.8 would just be so unwieldly but it's hard to judge from the video.

I am commenting on this with Google Translate. I only own a SIGMA fp and a LUMIX 28-200. Which should I buy, the SIGMA 24-70mm f2.8ii or the 28-45mm F1.8? Or is the 14-24mm F2.8 better even though it doesn't have HLA? The lens is for hobby, not work. Because it's a hobby, I want to use it even on rainy days, so I'm thinking of buying an ART lens. I hardly do portraits. If I could get a girlfriend... Please reply if you don't mind. From a Japanese fan.

I like the 14-24, but only if you want to do wide angle photography. I would say out of the three, the 28-40mm f1.8 is the one that stands out from the 28-200mm. While the 24-70 is a great lens, it’s a little redundant with having a 28-200 unless you really want the extra light on that range of focal lengths.
