I would have thought Michael Phelps would have had a mention, however my pick would have to be Aleksandr Karelin for Greco-Roman wrestling, he excelled in a sport based on power, endurance, skill, strength and technical knowledge and won 887 matches with only two losses (each by only one point), he also went six years without having a single point scored against him in his peak. His nickname was literally "the experiment" and he has a signature move known as the Karelin lift, he truly was the most badass athlete I know of.

No, he really isn't. No doubt he was a great sportsman, and arguably the greatest cricketer that's ever played to date, but, and there's the critical point of the video you seem to have missed, cricket is nowhere near the all-inclusive extreme physical challenge compared to other sports. I'm not saying that it isn't a challenge, and that it doesn't require extreme physical abilities at its upper competitive thresholds, but it doesn't require the same profusion and interaction of physical traits that the various sports that have mentioned representatives, are required to have. Therefore, as an assessment of the best mix and interplay of all traits we consider sporting; agility (body balance and motion control), dexterity (hand to eye coordination), endurance, power (body dynamics against opposing forces) and flexibility, cricket doesn't even come close compared to rugby, or basketball, or soccer/football, and Bradman, likewise does not fill the prerequisite traits for greatest sportsman. At best top cricket players are required to have elite dexterity and good agility, but for everything else they are pretty mediocre compared to other sportspeople. Not that individual cricket players can’t have the other traits in higher qualities, but the sport itself isn’t demanding of them, so they are not consistently ‘tested’ through their professional careers. By comparison, basketball requires upper threshold players to have elite dexterity and agility, exceptional endurance and good power and flexibility. Soccer, the same as basketball. Rugby; elite power, dexterity, agility and endurance, and good flexibility. And I haven’t even touch on the mental aspects of the sports, of which all three sports mentioned in the video have a significantly more dynamic, moment to moment, intense levels of tactical assessment and team coordination than cricket, all of which have to happen seamlessly side by side with the athlete’s extreme physical expenditure. When the ball’s in play in cricket, you have between 2 to 5 players on either side actually actively participating in a play, everyone else is just standing around, watching. In basketball and rugby, every person is on game in every moment of play. In soccer you have anticipatory roles, out of immediate play, but there’s no cloud gazing for anyone, because the game can shift to place any player in core play at any moment. Suggesting that cricket, and therefore cricket athletes are in the same threshold as rugby athletes is like me saying Olympic table tennis players and gymnasts are pretty much the same level of athleticism. Bradman was a great sportsman, but he was not anywhere close to being the best sportsman there ever was. You’re mistaking locational notoriety and (comparatively) moderate physical talent for global adaptive social strategy and pervasive athleticism. And I am saying that as someone who lives in a location were Bradman is considered a hero and a legend. He was many great things, all which should be remembered, but he was not the best sportsman the world has known by any stretch of the imagination. He could however, be considered one of the best ambassadors for sport but that would be a different kind of video.

All of the top tier teams averaged around that sort of weight. One of my favourite aspects of the game watching the scrum. The most dangerous part of the game, the finest of lines. Hockey is certainly a consideration as far as overall athletic expectation, but I would say that while both require similar elite levels of body agility and hand to eye dexterity, as well as endurance, rugby requires more flexibility and significantly more power, two large bodies on skates colliding at speed in a running/blocking pattern is not the same as two massive bodies running into each other with the wilful determination to win a sustained contest of pure power and strength to control the outcome. Rugby requires significantly more power than hockey, more than pretty much any sport that isn’t purely about power as its core feature, like power lifting, but with the possible exception of MMA, which also requires a huge amount of power if the fight goes to the ground and power position leverage.

@@lolloler1406 "Pele's a fraud". Keep convincing yourself if it makes you feel better. As much as I'd like to disregard Pele myself, he is the GOAT, even if he might get bested in skills in some areas by the likes of Maradona/messi/muller/best/ronaldo, he is the GOAT in terms of influence. Also, don't disregard his skills either. I see a lot of arguments like "Pele only played in the weak Brazilian league", when in truth, that Brazilian league of the 60's was just as good as any European league. If Brazilian league had been weak, Brazil wouldn't have won the world cup back to back. Moreover, if you doubt Pele's skill and believe that his club was weak, then you're absolutely wrong. In the early 60's, SL benfica was a European giant, alongside Real Madrid. They had won back to back European cups in 61 and 62 (now known as champions league), and were a powerhouse thanx to the services of the legendary Eusebio. And then, in 62,in the intercontinental Cup, the all powerful benfica faced Pele's Santos. Over two legs, benfica got trashed 8-4 by Santos, with Pele scoring a hatrick in one leg and a brace in the return leg. So re think when you call Pele a fraud. Moreover, your point about "a championship striker outscoring Pele in the 60's" is fking dumb. That's like saying, any semi progressional bodybuilder today would dwarf a bodybuilder from the 60's. Well no shit sherlock. Techniques, technology, and regiments evolve over time. Comparing two absolutely different eras is idiotic.

In regards to basketball, Wilt Chamberlain deserves serious consideration as the best ever. Chamberlain was so dominant that they changed the rules of the game to take away some of the things only he could do. He once scored an incredible 100 points in a game and averaged an astonishing 50 points per game over an entire system. He won seven scoring, eleven rebounding, nine durability, and nine field goal percentage titles. No other player ever averaged at least 30 points per game and 20 rebounds per game over a season, yet Chamberlain accomplished this feat seven times and achieved these averages over his entire career. In basketball, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan are the two you need to choose between. It's hard to compare them because they played different positions in different eras. For the most dominate player in any sport, my choice is Wayne Gretsky in ice hockey. He has pretty much every offensive record in the sport and by an incredible margin. You name the stat and Wayne Gretsky is far in front of every other player to have played the game. Second place typically only 1/2 of Gretsky's total. I saw Wayne Gretsky play and nobody could understand how he always managed to be so far in front of everybody else. He was called simply "The Great One." If you expand the definition of sport to include any competitive activity, then my choice is Dr. Marion Tinsley in checkers. He was by far the greatest checkers player in history maintaining the world championship for 45 years losing only 7 games in his entire life! Two of his loses were to the computer program "Chinook" which would later go on to solve the game. Tinsley had a period of over 40 years where he lost only three games. Some top checkers players played their entire career without ever witnessing Marion Tinsley lose a game. During one game against the computer program Chinook, Chinook played a weak move on its 10th move. Tinsley immediately said "you are going to regret that move." Tinsley did win the game. Afterwards the lead programmer, Jonathan Schaeffer, looked back into the database and discovered that Tinsley picked the only strategy that could have defeated Chinook from that point and that the win took 64 moves to complete. Yet somehow Tinsley saw the win in a flash. Nobody could understand how one player could be so good for so long. There is nothing like it in any other competitive activity that is more mental than physical whether the activity is Chess, Go, Xiangqi, Bridge, or whatever.

If you look at the best sports people of each sport, no one is as far ahead of the next best as The Don is and he didn't even get a mention..........That is just......mind boggling. For those who want to know: In short, Batting Average in Cricket is how many runs you make on average per innings, you're considered a great batsmen if you have a batting average of 50, there are only a handful (6 to be precise) who have a batting average above 60 with Steve Smith sitting in 2nd on 62.84 which is absolutely ELITE. Donald Bradman's batting average is 99.94. which means Donald Bradman is 37.1 runs better than the next best batsman of all time. Donald is the Greatest Sports person of all time. Just a side not, Marnus Labuschagne's batting average is 63.43 however he has only played 14 test matches which can make his B.A rise and slide suddenly......So I didn't count him on the list.
