I think that the needle take up spring settings are very confusing for a lot of operators...I realize that when the needle hits the material that the pulling should subside and reingage upon needle exit....but how about the tension? Make it similar to the upper tension that has been determined already based on the thickness of material and type? That's what I do...but I think there is a better explanation. And second...my new Juki 1508 handles heavy Tenara perfectly with no skipped stitches going thru 1/8 "thick patio furniture vinyl strapping at a full 9mm...however my b837 is challenged due to its age and degree of wear on its parts...mainly the whole bobbin system and the needle bar holder degree of crookedness and the bolts just don't stay tight on my timing settings....so I need to repair some things... otherwise....what are your recommendations for stitching perfectly with Tenara? I have a few tricks I will reveal in response and in addition to your expert advise. Thanks Alex

Really nice review and beautifully filmed. You worked hard on the editing. Thank you! Essentially, this machine is getting closer to CNC sewing machines used in large scale production. Great for repeatability of certain tasks without operator error. There are so many functions, it starts to be difficult to remember them all! I have a home machine (Bernina Artista 730) and the computerized functions are amazing: buttonholes, lettering, little patterns and even embroidery with an attachment.

Thanks for this video. I was not previously aware of this machine, but you easily convinced me that I have no interest in one. This level of computer control is terrifying to me. None will be added. Keep up the good work. It is helpful.

In 2020 our company bought two new machines JUKI 2810-A7 full automatic and other machine was Duerkopp Adler 867-190342 E2 also full automatic. DA was 35% more expensive than Juki but in this two years of owning them Juki dominates DA in every segment. In frist month on DA LED lightinig stopped to work. We got now transformator under warranty and again after few monts led lightining stopped to work. After that DA had some problems with knife for thread cutting. Many times when it first turns on, it shows some error, so it has to be turned off and turned on again. Issue was bad contact cable on machine electronics. And all that time Juki was working perfectly fine, and doing like 300% more stiches per day than DA. Now DA have a strange sound. Even the repairman doesn't know what the problem is and why it squeaks while working. He said that everything is lubricated properly, he even put new grease in the head of the sewing machine, but the noise comes from the bottom, and everything is supposedly correct below according to repairman. I am very disappointed in DA. We have had DA767 working prefectly fine for 15 years. Those were super machines.

These are like $6,000, lol…Anyway, this is a luxury vehicle. The 2810 is a Sports car. It’s like a Hybrid Porsche. The 1541/1508 is a Muscle car with a big engine. Pound for pound, the 2810 is better than the 1541/1508; However….since they are in the same class (they’re Upholstery machines neither are Harness Stitchers like the 441) everything the 2810 can sew, so can the 1541/1508. The 2810 is mostly about creature comforts and being an evolution of sewing machine operations as a whole with pneumatic air functions. IMO the 1541/1508 is the last and best pure analog, MECHANICAL upholstery grade Walking Foot.…the best revisions of a near 100 year old design hailing from the The Singer 111w. The 2810 isn’t "purely" mechanical and relies on Pneumatic functions to move around as opposed to the user lifting heavy levers and overall dealing with the clunkiness of a 111w style machine. They’re for different people. I prefer Godzilla (1508/1541), personally. The design is a 100 years old and they can be ran hard...Nobody really knows what the 2810’s will look like 10 years from now. Imagine trying to fix the pneumatic computerized stuff in a 2810 yourself lol It’s a DA 867 clone that is probably built better than the Durkopp and cheaper, if you’re in the market for a 867, it’s a no brainier purchase. The extra throat size is nice, but long arm 1541/1508’s are available also. Excellent video as always.

Some things will and some things won't. You can buy a version from the dealer that does not have all the automation and that one does not require air or the computer. Most of the actuators that perform the various automated functions are air driven. I owned the 2810 less the auto functions.... not a great machine....bobbin jamming issues etc..... I tried to stick with its quirks for over a year... I’ve been an automotive trimmer for 42 years... I purchased an durkopp adler 867 to replace the Juki ... no looking back... the adler is a Cadillac.....

I was thinking of the Adler as well. 867 but automated trimming etc. Owned by the Chinese thou. So I hope it's built in Germandy, etc.

Made in China. That turns me off. Can't get over Chinese poor quality every where.

This machine is of excellent quality. I look for quality in all my tools. These machines must meet Juki's high standards wherever they are built and apparently China is up for the challenge. Rhetorical question. Where is the thing you are writing to me made?
