Key Points 29:00 Tom says "It doesn't matter what you look at, it matters what you see" Here is a similar one: "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change" 29:48 Ask yourself "What would you love failing at?" "The success is not guaranteed. The struggle is". I really liked it when Tom said this because it reminded me of his course Mindset 101 on Impact Theory University. He said exactly the same thing there 30:20 People are going to win in this time. There will be people who come out of this huge. Example: Zoom 32:45 Brilliant exercise from Ramit: write on one piece of paper all the reasons things will not work. Another piece of paper: write all the reasons it will work. Then you get to choose which paper to read. Tear up the other one. Wow. This was insightful.

One thought on unemployment: this is your own money, which has been withheld from paychecks for all the years prior to this event. There is no shame in using your own savings, in the form of government set aside from the money you earned previously
@yaritzal63604 жыл бұрын
I agree with you in people setting their pride aside and not feeling shame in claiming unemployment. At the least, we're experiencing temporarily what other people experience on a more regular basis. This situation is trying to teach us to be compassionate and understanding of others' situation. That said, I just want to make a correction on your statement. Employees don't pay towards unemployment insurance (UI), companies do. It's an "insurance" fund, funded by employers. The % they pay is based on their payroll $. Companies who have the highest layoffs (i.e. not-so-good companies who treat their employees as dispensable) are "punished" with a higher UI % rate. They have a higher chance of having unemployment claims filed by their laid-off employees, so the reason for the raise in % they pay. Employees pay zero towards UI. Employers pay it all.

Really compressed audio for some reason Tom. I miss your real voice. Thanks for continuing to give us value and what you do. Please encourage your crew to experiment with different audio/streaming solutions. Know Rich Roll did a show with Zach Bush and mentioned he apologized for not having a real time interaction because of the delay as Zach was in Austria. It still sounded like a high quality production and hardly noticed a delay being it was webcasted. Made me think about a software like Vizzywig that does support a portal connect and quality may be compromised during the live stream. But when you play it back it’s like there is no compromise in quality including the video stream. Be like a two camera shoot in the studio. Don’t quote me on this software but seem to remember it offering these impressive features. Good news on Diamond Comics as they going to kick back up on May 20th. Look forward to getting your next comic. Lost my job as a event production technician(run camera, audio, set up lights and sort in a corporate environment)and been shifting gears like crazy as know it’s a fragile and a lot of things have to be healthy so I can actually work. I didn’t want the government payout even though was more than minimum wage. Regardless felt the right thing to do to keep going at it. Working at Amazon and been selling items on the side as that was my side hustle before this happened but it’s been going decently. I often see your Quest Cookies, Bars while working at Amazon. My creative gears been turning like crazy. Putting ideas and reading books how to start my own food item to offer to the market. I have this great idea as listen to so many podcasts like yours that the ideas of health keep coming back up over and over. Want to take them all and incorporate them into the foods I make. Have some crazy combinations in offers and the holes in the market as what is not offered especially in the ingredients department. Similar to say the guy who made Primal Foods brand. He started much later in his life. Inspired by him and your own brand. Hope all is well with you and Lisa. Be fucking legendary Tom.

My husband and I got married at the very end of January (we were initially going to wait until May. So happy we didn't!) We simply took our immediate family down to the courthouse. We got catering from our favorite restaurant down the street. We had the reception at our house, which I decorated with tons and tons of flowers I purchased at Produce Junction. All in all, the total of the wedding including the cost of my dress (which was elegant enough to wear then, but can be worn again when the world gets back to some semblance of normalcy) was approx. $600. Remember, the wedding is about YOU, your SPOUSE, and your LOVE. It is not about impressing other people. The average American wedding is something like $30,000.
