I know most people throw too hard, forcing the ball. I also know that I can naturally throw harder in games 2 and 3 than I can in game 1. I never adjust until something bad happens, which is obviously too late. Great video.

You had that seven pin spinning like a top... Awesome

I was amazed when bowling in leagues how many bowlers could not effectively and consistently control their ball speed. My problem was maintaining accuracy and execution when getting left of the 30 board but other than that ball speed was my specialty.

Awesome revisit for sharpening not-used-enough-tool in my arsenal. Thanks Coach!

Great video. I myself have been working the similiar things you talked about. Opening up my angles more and adjusting speed. I never used to do that. I'd just grab a different ball and still have the same problems.

I actually did this in league last night. I still roll a Super Nova, and by game 2, it was starting to hook early and Brooklyn. I could've balled down, but instead, I just moved back on the approach about six inches, without changing my starting board or lane target, and I started hitting the pocket again. That's all. Just a touch more speed to get through the dry. Worked like a charm.

Man, if I were in your area I would be at your bowling center a LOT, just to try to learn from you. THIS is all the kinds of things I really need to learn. It's like a complex math problem and you are really good at solving it! .. I need to learn how to do that!

I understand that speed control is a great tool, at the same time(in my opinion) is the hardest thing to do. Unless you are actually practicing a lot the last thing you wanna mess with is speed... its very easy to be all over the place once you start to play with that... Idk, like I said, my opinion. I always say that speed control is the main difference between the pros and league bowlers.

I’d agree with that. It’s one thing all bowlers should master first

I definitely need to learn to master this. It is costing me every league night

When changing speed, my timing gets all out of wack. When I try to slow down I tend to pitch out to the gutter too much, when I speed up I tend to pull inside. I always say, I need to learn how to change my speeds, but I don't really get to practice so I'm stuck with what I got.

Thank you so much for this informative video. My question is how to control the speed; Is it by swing or by quick steps?

In your opinion, what is your primary or go to way to change the ball speed? Ball placement is setup; slower feet; a different mindset; or even a little change in the follow through? Or something else.

Jr can you help me. I have a ring finger problem, that I can no longer use in the bowling ball. Is there a recommendation for putting an index plus middle finger drilled into the ball so I can continue to throw a hook ball

I’m an older bowler(in my 8th decade) and I can’t pick up speed beyond 13 mph. I don’t have an arsenal of balls. I have a Pitch Blue urethane and a Hyped pearl both 14 lbs. And an Ice plastic for spares. What can I do?
@GaryWygal5 ай бұрын
Congratulations for still being able to bowl in your 8th decade, I hope I can say the same later on down the road 😊 have fun and try and give the lane what it is asking for within your speed limitations and most importantly pick up those spares 😊 this is what I do and I average 220 across 3 leagues and I am 51 years old... I'm still able to use a 16lb ball with my comfortable speed being 14.5mph to 16.5mph... Good luck and have fun always

Speed is the only adjustment that I do and has taken me at least 3 seasons of bowling about 3 to 4 leagues per season to get good at it... My average is 220 across 3 leagues, I'm not claiming to be good but speed control is a huge part of my game because I don't like moving my feet or changing my mark... I just try and give the lane what it wants speed wise to play my same line every shot... I'm comfortable with speed as low as 14mph up to 16.5mph... If I want to throw it 14mph I just simply move up on the approach about 18 inches and take a slower first step... If I want to throw it 16.5mph I step back and speed up my first step... Just pay attention to what your ball did on your first shot and look at your speed and adjust accordingly... It takes a lot of practice to get good at this but it's worth it 😊🎳

Im in the opposite boat. Trying to get my speed up. 12.5 through the pins. Big hands, lots of revs. Modern covers are too much. Being 45 yo, im going to drop to 14 lbs from 16 and try and move the feet quicker.
@jeffnewman82615 ай бұрын
When you say the ball is fast, does that mean it will react quicker when it it's friction? If so would that mean an asimentric ball?

Great Vid. Question Raymond: With your fingers rotating the ball are you supposed to flick them up or forward to get proper rotation?

Is moving right after the 1st shot went light not a good option?

Great info . Speed seems to always be the first thing to look at before making big moves . I am building my natural swing around 16.5 mph , just so I can go up or down a few miles without getting out of my comfort zone.
