3:43 Toyota is genius with changing the face of the vehicle depending of the trim……and all the did was change the headlights…..and the vehicle looks totally different. It looks like an old model and a facelift model. The round headlights make one model look happy and slightly rounded while the rectangular headlight make the other model look boxy and sharp. Really cool idea.

Can we stop saying that this new Land Cruiser is based on the GX? It's the other way around. Yes, they unveiled the GX first but that does not change the fact that it's the GX that is based on the Land Cruiser Prado and not the other way around. The default version of the 250-series is this new LC.

The rectangular headlight goes really well with the overall design of the land cruiser's boxy design and body. Also, the rear light looks a lot nicer compared to the Lexus.

Honestly, i am very happy about the rear design, and the lack of a giant badge being the front and center. it's something i only ever see on 90s / early 2000s vehicles, when the badge wasn't the be-all-end-all design feature. And this makes me very happy.

Initially I was confused cuz the new land cruiser just realised recently and why did they came up with newer one then I realised this is the Prado version but for western market they simply rebadged it as a normal Landcruiser since they aren't getting any full size landcruiser this generation,so it make sense

Love this design! Also excited for it because it resembles the FJ Cruiser (which you did not bring up at all): 1.the narrow hood/airscoop look on top of the grills in between the headlights 2. the 2-tone curved roofline sculpture towards the back

I love it. Also looks like they could have taken inspiration from the 60 series land cruiser with the horizontal lights, too. Either way, I now wonder where the 4runner fits in the line up, since the land cruiser is no longer on the LX platform or maybe this is why the 4runner hasn't been released yet, idk.

In Australia the full sized Landcruiser (300 series) comes with the twin turbo 6 cylinder. This model (250 series) which is the Toyota Landcruiser Prado (smaller model) comes with the 4 cylinder. Only the USA doesn't get the full sized model for some unknown Toyota reason.

Americans have a particular taste in style and I suppose the 250 series caters to that, or that's what Toyota are hoping.

The first land cruiser that really appeals to me since the lc100. I think they've really nailed it with this one. And I also really like the circular headlights on the base model. Looks absolutely awesome on offroad tires. I'm not even sure whether Nissan still builds the patrol but I'd really love to see a Nissan patrol in this kind of style for the 2020s. And a Mitsubishi Pajero too. Loved that one as a teen. Was one of my favorite off-roaders back in the day.

Would like to see the clamshell design for the rear hatch and although it will probably never happen a diesel hybrid engine option for fuel economy. Also, if they offered options like a cooler box like in previous LX models and a rugged rubberized waterproof floorboard. A panaramic roof option would be cool too. And lastly, if the towing capacity (for the 1958 trim) could be bumped up to 6500-7500 lbs for towing a vehicle would be great.

Bembli ~ The one you keep calling the "base model" is actually the "First Edition". The rectangle lights are on the mid package, or Landcriuser package. The round lights are on both the 1958 base model and the First Edition, but the First Edition has the gray (white) top.

They could’ve atleast put the intake between the front fender and the door near the side mirrors, like the defender where the intake is and is also in reverse, this could increase the wading depth to 800 or 850mm instead of it being 700 because the intake is below the whee arch.

i feel like what yota should have done is the 90s restomod face on the tacos and the 70s face on the land cruiser, also can you do a touch up on the new Escalade IQ, something just feels off on it and the things that bug me the most are the round wheel wells and that white panel in the back for the new cadi EV taillights. The big one to me though are those round wheel wells, GM has been doing square wheel wells since the 80s on their SUV and the round ones, especially on the escalade, just feel off.

Good design but I am little surprised why they didnt preserve the classic fender shape. Land rover defender designs are very modern but they still kept the classic fender shapes. This current boxy/octagonal fender shape from the land cruiser looks good also but I prefer the classic look of the 3 sided fenders.

Controversial opinion maybe, but I genuinely don't like this design, and I'm really trying hard to. I own a 2012 land cruiser and I'm a huge fan of retro design, but this one just looks like an outdated, old model. I much prefer the way the new bronco modernised to a retro design while still communicating that it's the latest model. That's just my subjective opinion though.
