The 4.30 axle ratio is just to make up for the ridiculously tall gear ratios in the Tundra transmission. The first gear was 3.333:1 Ford and GM 6 speeds were >4.0:1 first gear. The ford was 4.17:1. Literally the 4.30’s in the tundra are equivalent to 3.43:1 axles in an F150. Andre you gotta do one of two things for your truck. while hitched to your boat move the boat back on your trailer so you have less tongue weight or move your axles back a bit, just like moving a 5th wheel on a truck back or forth,, even big truck trailers have adjustable mounts. Moving the boat back is probably easiest , once the hitch weight/balance is corrected, the boat winch/rest post is moved to the boat. Most people don,t know to adjust the hitch weight is simple and used to be done. When you load your boat the balance is effected, fuel ect, i think boat trailers are the only trailers people just accept with out thinking about addressing load and hitch weight. ps love yer new truck

Nice upgrade. Flush the coolant every 50k or 5 years ... change the oil every 5k or 6 months and that 5.7L will last hundreds of thousands of miles... it's already proven itself to be a million mile engine. It's a thirsty V8, so don't expect great fuel economy especially when towing. Both of my V8 Tundra trucks are regular cab SR5 models, and I love them. The 4.7L has 200,000 miles, and the 5.7L has a little more than 300,000 miles.

Great choice! Five years ago I test drove a 2019 exactly like it (minus the snorkel) in the same color, that TRD exhaust sounds amazing.

I have a '21 Tundra. It's an awesome truck! Sadly, things are getting more expensive and the cost to own and operate are getting difficult to justify. I'll likely end up selling it next year to cut down on costs. I'm already not looking forward to it but it's what's best for my young family. I hope the next owner takes it to a million 😢

The nicest and newest truck I've ever bought had so much more rust. I can't imagine being worried about a little surface rust on the hitch. Lol

Toyotas have had 3 decades of frame rust issues on every body on frame vehicle they made, including several class action lawsuits for frame replacements.

Great choice,Andre. I was surprised at first when you picked a used Tundra. But I’ve owned a 2010 and my son has a 2017. Both 5.7L. Absolutely the best trucks out there. They are thirsty, yes, but they go by smiles per gallon. Making a trip through Boulder next fall and trying to arrange to stop in for a quick visit. Hopefully will get to meet you guys. Keep up the great content. You guys are the best out there!

Salting the roads is absolutely tarded. Totally unnecessary with winter tires.

Great pick! I traded my 2023 Tundra that was a turd (check engines, loose weatherstripping/wind noise)). Cracking seat, squeaking plastics. back to a 21 TRD PRO Tundra that I will keep for years. Also 295/70/18 fit with no lift on the TRD PROs. So like a 34" tire.

That car was in Florida with saltwater flooding. That's not Michigan winter salt. We have Ohio salt and NO 2021 is gonna look like that unless it was soaking in saltwater.
@pathunter70035 сағат бұрын
That’s just what I thought also, that is a heavy scaling rust on the hitch. It would take a decade of road salt usage in ohio to get like that
@Argedis5 сағат бұрын
maybe it was taken to a lot of saltwater boat ramps
@HDHQDIRECT5 сағат бұрын
@@Argedis It's obvious it was submerged in salt. The rust underneath is perfectly encompassing the entire structure. Even way up into the spare tire where you shouldn't even get road salt. It's way too uniform, like it had been submerged.

Just bought a 2019 4Runner. Specifically wanted a pre-Covid build with no start/stop. The 2019 was the way to go. I have a ‘13 sequoia with the 5.7 and I feel like I have two vehicles I can drive for life. Good choice Andre.

4.0 V6 4Runners do not have start / stop. Pushbutton start and larger screen and heated steering wheel, collision braking/ radar cruise were the minor updates thru 2024.

Congratulations Andre good purchase I love watching your guises content and have for years. It helped me get into My first GEN 2014 F150 raptor. I bought it In 2020 for 37,000 with 60,000 miles on it just turned 100,000 and still running strong no problems other than tires and shocks. Something to be said about the reliability of a normally aspirated V8. I’m looking forward to watching more of your content with your new purchase, peace, brother.

Andre, I love your new truck! I used to own a 2021 Tundra SR5. There’s a few things I wish I knew about Tundras that would have made my ownership experience a little easier: 1. It is absolutely imperative that you have a catalytic converter shield! It looks like you have a big skid plate on yours, but make sure it fully covers both catalytic converters. 2. The metal is a bit soft, so be careful when loading heavy items - it dents very easily. If you use it as a work truck I would suggest getting bed rails and headache rack. 3. It’s steel not aluminum like an f150. Take care of any deep scratches quickly or they will rust. 4. The heater only has two settings, off and surface of the sun. That may be less of an issue for you in Colorado than me in South Texas. I would either do heat on windows cracked or just alternate turning the heat on and off.

The fact that Andre held back from buying brand new and buying used tells me a lot. I’ve been on the market for a new pick up truck, but just can’t swallow the price that they want to give. Thank you, Andre for your insight. I am now looking at used trucks. I’ve never been an import guy but now I’m looking for a truck just like the one you bought. Love the color on it.
