I actually like the architecture of the original. Just that. Always end up changing the floor plan, colours even the location. I always felt this house was supposed to be more in the woods, always put it in the amazing waterfall lot

I love attached garages. I use CFE alot to do attached garages, and even a split level kitchen or living room at times. If I use foundations on my lots. I just built a duplex mansion for my sims family. With an attached garage and split level kitchen. I think they look cool too.

Oh jeez CFE is so important to use and be done with before anything, or you'll get furniture and windows hanging in the air and such. In fact, I think the most important tip for building not just in Sims 3 but in any building environment is if you try any new technique, after you do it GO NO FURTHER and fully test out that it works. How many of us have stacked two staircases in such a way that you can't go up the bottom one? Yep. I make this mistake ALL the time. Anyway, the capital A in Capitola A was for ass, but now it's for awesome! :D

It looks nice! This is absolutely just a suggestion, but I might have popped some flowers up on top of that lattice above the front door for visual interest and texture. Maybe one of the heathers, or some of the one tile flowers if you want more low key.

Just do a "simsie" starter, but try and create realistic colours and textures, not 'sims 4 colours'

Like he said. I think one of the hardest things for me at first is you either build too big or too small. I try to keep starter homes for a single Sim or a couple under 100 tiles, one floor. That's great so you have plenty of room for the bedroom, bathroom and one big open-plan room for everything else. Then use the cheapest furniture and try to make it look as good as you can with CAS. Do that 2 or 3 times, maybe more, and it will be a lot less oppressive. Don't get bogged down in too much detail at first, but in time you'll want to use the terrain paints, put tiles on the ceilings, add toilet paper to all the bathrooms, etc. (I made a collection of all the bathroom items i use, that makes making bathrooms easy.) Anyway, my very first builds made shoeboxes look attractive. I just made an art gallery which barely resembles the Guggenheim. So we get better. :)

If you can't find the tile you want, just use bricks haha, even white bricks are nice for a plain kitchen

Seem like modern is becoming your style other than Victorian, which is a refreshing evolution haha It seems like you can't really go wrong with black and white, and a third colour as accents. Looks good to me. Although I would have some shed roofs somewhere else as a reminder of the old "Capital A" style. The original Capital A was a Capital F lol.
