this is too over the top - OTT in the Bitwig Grid

I tried to take the patch of Dave Linnenbank from his Compressor Tutorial ( • Let's Build a... Compr... ) and make a 3-band compressor and expander out of it, in the same vein as OTT. Funny, lately I've been trying to build the best OTT plugin for me using Bitwig stock devices and experimented with a bunch of layouts. As it would be used on most of my tracks it needs to be lightweight. Thank you for this awesome preset, can't wait to see if I can adapt it to my needs.

one less plugin to install If OTT ever stops getting updates you don't have to rely on a dead VST Dead VSTs, specially free ones disappear from the web over the years and now you're stuck opening an older project and replacing it and re-mixing your track to get the original sound and sometimes you can't get the original sound right. Ask me how I know...

@@ht3k I mean, that's true of any software, not just 3rd party plugins. If you're searching for longevity you have no choice but hardware inserts. I made music in Cakewalk for years, ask me how that aged.

I personally extended it with a Shaper module instead of a regular threshold and ratio. So you can do upwards/downwards expansion and compression depending on the curve you draw. Add some bands, and you basically have FL Maximus, which is an awesome dynamics processor.

I wish besides the attack and release there was a way to make a hold parameter for that compressor. The closest approach i could come up with was splitting the envelope follower signal several times, delaying each by different amounts (using an attenuator to make these values relative to the maximum hold time), and then comparing the maximum of each pair, then comparing the maximum of each MinMax until i got one signal that is the maximum of all the signals. But that is way too hacky and breaks on long hold times + fast rise/fall settings. I don't know what would be the "correct" way to implement it.

It's kind of ridiculous we can't build reusable modules in the grid. Looking at those 3x duppicated chains is hurts the programmer in me
