I don’t think you’re being too harsh. I’m not a 76ers fan natively but they were my favorite team to watch and root for since the “Trust the Process” era so I was quick to defend Ben Simmons’ lack of shooting until his meltdown in the last playoffs and attitude in the off-season. The dude is just soft and he wants all of the recognition and money that comes with his elite skill set at what he’s good at, but he can’t take criticism or pressure. He has to post videos of him shooting in the off-season to reassure himself and other people that he’s *physically* capable of a jump shot, yet he doesn’t want to implement it into his actual game because it’s his weakest attribute. I don’t think he cares if he gets a ring in his career, or I don’t feel like his actions represent that. I think he wants to be a high volume option on a strong team so that he can confidently say he was a benefiting factor, and I think like most other players he’d like to be proud to say he did that his whole career.

@krcjayhawks2 жыл бұрын
@@christophercyr6447 Id hardly call most of this assumptions. It's very clear that he doesn't like shooting in games, it's very clear he believes he is worth max contract money, it's very clear that the off-season shooting vids we see here and there are not an indication that he is ready to shoot more in games. "already want to crucify him" - fans were patient with him, and often defended him, for years. His behavior, attitude, and contribution have not improved much since he left LSU. But his paycheck sure has. It's reasonable that fans are upset with him. If he is dealing with issues that we are unaware of, then it might be best for him to find a different career. Because whatever it is, it's clearly causing him to not put in the work to earn that paycheck.

I think the trade was even. Sure Philly got Harden, but Brooklyn really needed another experienced big in Drummond. Joe Harris is having a second surgery, and the Nets were counting on having his league-leading 3-point shooting. Seth Curry is a huge pickup in that regard. The cherry on top is they get not one, but two of Philly's first round picks, so they have assets or rebuild picks for the future. This team is stacked with KD back, and don't need Ben to be anything else than what he's been. 💁🏻♂️🏀

I think if both his mental health and his injury were genuine reasons to not play in Philly, I can’t understand why everyone would think he would be back playing straight away when arriving in Brooklyn, unlike another associated player. I like that the Nets are being cautious as they now have a four year investment in Simmons. Everyone wants the drama and hype of seeing Simmons play in Philly, but I never had expectation that that was going to happen on 10 March, and definitely not his first game back at least. I think there is enough evidence that his back is a creditable injury with a known history, we still don’t know the full picture with his mental health but I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Also, no one is talking about what was reported in the news last year that his sister claimed she was molested by his step brother and went to court. He has a close relationship with both, could this be related to his mental health. Could be nothing or something.
@darrenvarley1052 жыл бұрын
Probably has a psychiatrist that needs to give the mental health go ahead for him to play and Nets management are saying to the media its physical so he doesnt have to deal with the stigma around mental health stuff. Just a guess, but it seems highly plausible.

I agree with your take on this. Likewise, in terms of shooting woes, specially FT's, Ben and Giannis had the same weakness but although Giannis is still not that good with his jump shots or free throws, at least he does everything to improve it. Hell, he even embraced the challenge of other teams leaving him wide open and he takes the shot, whether it goes in or not. He even makes jokes about it in practice. Ben Simmons so far had done everything to avoid responsibility for his own shortcomings and it's really difficult for someone to improve on anything that he/she does not acknowledge to be a problem in the first place. At least that's what he has shown so far.

@sambeaumont3952 жыл бұрын
To get the 8th seed they have to lose to the 7th seed in the play-in and win the next game vs the winner of 9&10. OR Drop out of the top 8, but no further than 10 and then win two games in a row. Given any team can beat any other team in a single game - that would be a very risky path to try and take. Simmons isn't saying he injured his back, just that it's sore. I can tell you personally that after I've been not working out for a while, the first thing I notice when pushing myself to get in better shape is my lower back gets sore. He has had to play a large part of his career during the Covid insanity which has been depressing for just about everyone. He has played for one of the most critical, demanding and sometimes even brutal fan bases in all of sports in Philly and he didn't exactly click with his teammates. Plus his coach (Doc) kinda threw him under the bus. On top of all that, you media guys have been attacking him unrelentlessly. Furthermore, he could be dealing with a legit mental health issue. His behavior doesn't surprise me at all and shouldn't be surprising to anyone who has a little empathy for their fellow human beings (Even the spoiled millionaires)

I don’t think the nets will get destroyed either everyone was big on Durant when Harden was there they got back a great defender and size with the big penguin and got Seth as a great shooter Harden leaves and it’s over? The team honestly seems like it’s better now

Sitting out 60 games on the chair can cause back injuries. Ask anyone working for long hours in front of the monitor.

He’s covering up for just ramping back up into game shape… of course playing against the sixers is a tough task for him that soon tho
