How did you implement details like bioluminescence attracting animals or necks getting longer? Were these specifically implemented things that could happen or did you do it in a more general way, like having a light system overall or a „longness“ factor for each body part? Also, what engine do you use?

Bioluminescence is a binary thing at the moment; so every now and then a plant emerges that has it. In practice this means you see it up pop up every now and then, and then die out again if it doesn't have any effect (or stick, in case animals happen to develop an instinct 'if you see a light in the dark, go towards it'). Body shape is more gradual; bodies can get longer, shorter, fatter etc in all kinds of ways, and this is just changed a bit at random for each child. As for the engine: Unity!

@@earlysda Have we seen a million year long process in the less than two hundred years that evolution has been discovered? No, but there is lots of proof for evolution. We haven't observed Jesus making any species out of thin air, and there isn't evidence for that. why do you believe the latter?

Right now there is no seed dispersal via fruits yet... it's often requested though :)

When i run a simulation at full speed for around 10 to 20 minutes it probably crashes, did you do this on normal speed?

Hey Greef X, yes I ran at slow speed. If your game is crashing it is probably the game running out of memory; I have made some changes in the next big update so this won't happen as often. Until then, a (weird) workaround for this problem is to go into an editor every now and then.

I get this question quite often! At the moment, unfortunately, I'm having trouble to get this to run smoothly on gaming PCs (this game is about simulating thousands of organisms simultaneously, after all), so if I ever decide to expand to other platforms, my first choice will be more powerful hardware.

Yes and yes. The creature at 0:32 is one for example. Carnivores are really simple though; this will change with the next big update.
