Don't stop flying, we had an older member in our GYRO community that flew but never solo, the deal was when he passed, the pilot he flew with got the aircraft. I saw him pass on the field during one of our big fly in's from a massive coronary... it was a very emotional moment but he lived his passion right to the end and did so safely...

Isn't it crazy that we live in a world where the "normal" is people getting sick, disabled or worse, dying before age 70. My plan is to live and thrive well beyond my 70s. Given that eating whole plant foods and regular exercise is backed by solid science, I'm a good bet to get there. I should get back into gliding, right? I feel like it's a missed opportunity not to. Or at least paragliding.

Hey Trent. I'm working on getting my pilot license and hoping that one day I can make it out your way from Minnesota to show me a little thing or two about true bush flying. You're the main reason I took the leap to start working towards getting my private pilots license after having an incredibly irrational fear of flying basically since I was 6 years old and flew on a plane for the first time. Poots MuhGoots I too had a fear of stalls and spins. On my checkride I was stupid enough to go up in 22kts steady, 29 gusts. (noted in my log book) I just wanted it over with. On the minimum controllable airspeed demo, I was perpendicular to the wind and when the stall occurred, I almost did a wing over from a gust of wind and being uncoordinated, trying to hold heading and altitude. That scared the sh*t out of me, but I did as I was taught, and recovered. Next he had me do a couple 360’s hanging by the prop at minimum speed and in both directions. In those winds, it was challenging, but I did them. I passed the checkride. Next month after that I was in a Decathalon getting spins out of my system. As posted, it is not as bad as it seems. Trying to fly the plane with your eyes closed as you describe what you think the plane is doing is also an eye opener. (ugh, bad pun. 🙀) Also, that feeling of passing the checkride is one we cannot describe. You just have to experience it for yourself. Don’t give up. Use the pilot forums for advice. I sure did.

Learn to Scuba Dive. I did years ago after my dad died before he could retire. It's cheap, and then go on a dive trip to some place you would never go to. Roatan is one place I can recommend. Explore the vast wonders under the surface, and you will be amazed! Then take up flying......

I have been wanting to get my PPL for a couple years now. It was a dream of mine that waxed and waned in my mind. Watching other aviation channels I was encouraged by the trips and cool flights, but then overwhelmed by the seemingly endless planning and paperwork. It began to feel not worth the couples of hours every few weeks that I would be able to actually get out. Then I found your channel, and all the simple joy of bush planes. As someone who loves hiking and offroading, THIS is the kind of flying that speaks to the deepest parts of me. Where its not about going from A to B but just going somewhere. It's about the journey and what we find along the way. This video was the final spark I needed. I am starting my training soon and hopefully finding my way into a Kitfox (I may even build my own). Thank you so much for showing people, in my opinion, the best parts of GA.

There's nothing more true than what you've said. Working is good, It keeps things rolling but there's no point in working endlessly and having no time to relax and think about what has been accomplished. No matter what you're passion is, You have to make time for it. Everything from throwing yourself off the side of a slope to sitting a reading a book. If you enjoy it, Make time for it. Sometimes things can be thrown in the way of you enjoying yourself but there will be many other opportunities. Keep those wings in the sky man, I love just sitting back watching your content.

Trent thanks for saying this. I've been practicing your philosophy since I was young. Now that I'm old enough (69) for my ability to engage in the most strenuous physical activities is winding down, I am grateful for all those memories I created. I can't imagine staring at life's end with nothing but work and TV behind me. Earth is beautiful, and life is good.

Everyone questions why I am getting my pilots license, but my answer to them is because I want to and flying to me is an absolute joy! Hey Trent, you and the Flying Cowboys have awakened my life long desire of flight. I grew up with planes and at the airport with my dad when I was a kid. He had planes and I always loved being with him in the air. Got my pilots license when I was 30 and then I let life get in the way and put my love of flying away in a box on the back shelf in the closet. This past month I started my new quest to get back to what I really love, Flying. At 55 I feel like a kid again when I go to the airport for my flight training to get back into the air. I have to say your right about eating dessert last, it should be first as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for showing all the fun you guys have with your planes.
