This video is honestly incredible and has been eye opening for me. I've learned more about music theory than any other tutorial I've seen so far. Just taking some of the things you mentioned have made my chord progressions sound 10x juicier and interesting. I was just throwing stuff at a wall until something sounded decent, but now i can actually break down WHY a chord progression sounds good. I'd love more content like this in the future.

This a vibey new genre, but it's pretty chill and not very dramatic at all. I went and found Supido to listen for myself, but the dudes in the comments were acting like their eyes had been touched by God and they were overwhelmed by crazed emotion. Meanwhile, the music is like hi, I'm the fun and inoffensive bop on a video game character select screen. People need to calm down with the party supplies before they start chewing their tongues off.

is this able to be explained in simpler terms
@illford5 ай бұрын
@@fartimedes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tritone_substitution there isn't an easy explanation. Honestly music theory is simple in theory but then they kind of just reinvent the wheel 50 times to make chords sound more interesting, mainly to add tension to stuff. NGL you can probably get a book on this that'll explain it well.
@illford5 ай бұрын
ok now explain it for everyone getting into music
@bigmistqke5 ай бұрын
@@fartimedestritone sub is when you replace a dominant 7 chord with another dominant 7 chord a tritone (6 half notes) away. It's a very typical jazzy sound. The most classic usage is with a ii-V-I progression: p.ex Dm-G7-C would after the tritone sub become Dm-C#7-C becoming this chromatic progression. But you can use it for any dominant. It's also used a lot in soloing: instead of playing in the notes of the chord the band is playing u play (or wink to) the notes of the tritone sub of that chord. There are a couple of tricks like that that give u that jazzy sound. Another one I really like is to play a diminished scale (the one a half step above) over a dominant 7, also very very typical jazz sound. All little tricks to create tension, while still keeping the general flow of the chords the same.

I have a opinion, this is Pluggnb with a New Jazz womp bass. New jazz is basically a descending chord progression going back to the minor i, example in c minor you can do a IV - v - i or iv - v - i chord progression these two is the basic chord progression in New Jazz. Also I'm not saying he's wrong I'm just saying that I think you mixed up the two genres together, but sick beat tho🔥

I’m mad that I can’t explain music theory the way you do but… everything is right EXCEPT the Rhythms of the patterns especially the drums. I can’t explain it but there’s more to it than just the chords you use. Sound selection is huge and using the “ands” of the time signature will help a lot. With the drums you just gotta listen to real new Jazz to understand the drum patterns. This is mainly just video game plugg music you created. Still mad fire tho.
