Literally this. Unlike with canines they're basically the same animal. We're not prey sized to smaller cats, so they perceive us as friend, not food. To bigger cats though.. we're snack size, so danger floof.

@@Electric0eye Small and medium sized cats can actually be way harder to tame because in the wild, they're both predator and prey - so they're on high alert 24/7 and tend to get more easily spooked than the apex species of cats. On average, it's the house cats and larger cats that are the most chill (when raised by humans). I'd literally prefer raising a mountain lion or leopard over a bobcat or lynx. Lol

@@exosproudmamabear558 thats not actually that true, snow leopards are normally solitary in the wild because of their low numbers but thats really it. In recent years we’ve realized when theres more of them they actually live just as happily in groups, but due to their harsh climate and lack of resources that just isnt normally a reasonable option, theres not enough food for large packs of them to exist communally. But ones bred in captivity have shown no human intervention is needed to make them more social, they always wouldve got along but humans trying to increase their numbers was what was needed to prove that. It is still nice to see, that they enjoy company so much, but theyre solitary in the wild due to their environment not their personalities

@@MrSilus2000True but no need to criticize zoos: aside from species conservation their income is used to protect natural habitats of endangered species (only speaking for european and north american zoos). Even if the snow leopards natural habitat wasn't touched by humans it is still a harsh environment and the leopards are likely to get injured during hunts. Therefore, their life expectancy almost doubles in captivity. An animal has different needs than human beings. Projecting our perceptions of freedom onto animals will not work.

From the look of it, we're seeing only one section that the camera focuses on. It looks like the enclosure actually goes off further to the right of the frame, but this might be the main "viewing area" that the animals are more inclined to go to. Some zoos and animal parks have an area that's designed to let the patrons see the animals more clearly, but the animals themselves have free reign to move into and out of that part of the enclosure as they feel inclined. The animal park I work at has areas like that, where sometimes you might look and go "so where the heck is this lion that's supposed to be here?", but they've gone into another area and are out of sight from that viewing area.

A lot of animals in captivity dont need excessive square footage like their wild living counterparts because all their needs are being met But also for wild cats its more important to have vertical space over land space (these snow leopards have a lot of vertical space which is good!)

@@2009carol2010 Those sorts of places are typically not accredited by the AZA nor properly being monitored by the USDA as they are supposed to be. If they were a properly maintained zoological park, they'd have to at least pass muster per the USDA on no less than yearly basis, and those tests are pretty hardcore. Like, the inspector that was frequently sent to the animal park I work at would routinely _scale the fence at the tiger exhibit,_ both to ensure it was the correct height, but also to make sure that it wasn't in a condition that would make it possible for a tiger to scale it (nothing big enough for a paw to fit into, etc.). They will look for any reason to give you a black mark, and don't take excuses. Kinda like a health inspector with a restaurant; nothing is left to chance.

Just learned today, that snow leopards are quite docile and shy, & there are no records of any attacks on humans. Even when cornered by farmers, they will choose to flee if they can

@@filip6994not big or strong enough? Wtf are you talking about? It's bigger, heavier and stronger than many dog breeds and they still attack humans. But for the reference: aren't snow leopards quite similar in size to mountain lions? Mountain lions attack even bears if necessary. Maybe they're just not in need to fight off humans most of the time, because they're living so far apart from them.

@@filip6994"not big or strong enough" bro we are weak compared to their prey. they'd make quick work of us or worse (play with us like a cat plays with prey, leaving us in agony) if they wanted to. even small animals can cause significant harm to us

Wonderful to such wholesome play and cuddles. I hope the park has noticed that they need a bigger top bunk bed and have made them a new one where they can both fit more comfortably. Imagine if Victorian-era scientists observed this behavior….. they would probably conclude that the cats were suffering some sort of neurological disorder with all that spontaneous leaping about!!! I wonder if wild snow leopards engage in this much play or are they too focused on getting their next meal? Wonderful, inspiring footage….thanks for sharing. The music coming on (loud) in the middle was odd however.

On the other hand, have you ever watched two cats snuggle up to sleep on the same platform of a cat tree? It basically looks like this. There's very clearly two platforms, as there's a second "nest" of straw beneath the one they're on, but they're choosing to smush together into a smaller space and wrap around each other like that.

@@alessialaudante6825Well, you're not an animal. Animals prefer to be free, and in their natural habitat.
@alessialaudante6825
@alessialaudante6825 Жыл бұрын
@stephaniefogelvik4756 animals have no concept of "be free." Animals control large territories and have to travel many miles a day to PATROL them, not because they enjoy the jogging routine. The large territory is needed to secure access to water sources, food, and a safe den to grow your cubs without having to worry about rivals and predators slaughtering them while you're off hunting. It's not like convenient modern-day human housing where you have clean water at the tap of your fingers and a full fridge right next to it. Likewise, a good "habitat" for a human is not a good habitat for a non-human animal. Like a habitat made for a lion is not fit for a crocodile. Do not humanise animals.
