Vw brand director said it crisp and clear that in vw 2.0 project their target customer is upper Middle class and rich which they call ✌🏻premium customers ✌🏻 and they are quite safe in premium segment . They just can’t take risk to enter in budget segment again. Said by vw brand director. But if premium hatch segment heats up in future then it will force vw to enter this segment again just like what bajaj is doing by entering 300-400cc segment and they are all set to launch 400cc pulsar within next 3 months bcoz in bikes 300-400cc segment is heating up at very high pace same goes for suv segment in cars

In a scenario of say a polo gti was on sale in it's latest gen for 20 lakhs, these are the same people who would rather get a seltos or creta or Scorpio(N) if they had the cash . This is now only becoming a bigger and bigger confusion now, I really don’t understand what exactly Volkswagen and Škoda are really planning for India… even if they have Taigun/Kushaq here, they don’t match up with size and presence of the likes of Seltos/Elevate in any way… so that’s already a miss for me… On the contrary, India is believed to be the 4th largest Automotive market in the world. And still, why are brands in general like VW not able to put a cost effective proposal for us??

As mentioned in the video, the Sub 4m SUVs derived from the platform itself could be expensive and something they don't have any interest in. So, hatches from the same is quite unlikely. But the existing polo, even if it is more than 4m long, is something VW can give a chance to.

However, instead of getting the global polo hatchback which will cost more as the taxes are high for car longer than 4m in India, they can try a sub 4m polo as there are oly 3 cars in that segment - baleno, i20 and Altroz. I feel Volkswagen and Škoda wants to remain a premium brand in India and does not want to compete with Maruti, Hyundai, Tata and Kia.

all the new variants of Taigun is just stickers and logos around the car ( mostly given as a kit to dealer) .. Trail and Sound . Its a shame that they don't customize these variants to core functionality those words stand for... Like Trail edition could have got a better suspension and off road tuning Sound edition could have a branded amplifier + speakers . I strongly feel VW india is lacking R&D staff and centers in India.. they just apply stickers and call it as an edition .. cheap gimmick.. reduces the brand value..

VW-Skoda May not survive for long in India. Because they do not have mass market product under ₹9-10 lacs on Road. After the launch of HONDA ELEVATE with Smart Pricing Kushaq-Tiagun 1.0 TSI Sales nos. will definately take a beating. Unless VW-Skoda improves their feature offerings in the lower variants as well including 6 Airbags from Base. VW-Skoda beware of Hyundai Facelifted CREATA, chances if it scores 5 Star Safety Rating in Crash test like Verna with improved feature list. It would be difficult to sell in big Sales nos. against 3 Engine & 3 Gearbox options as well.

Volkswagen will not succeed in a big way unless they understand the Indian market. All their cars including the SUVs are not tall enough. Because of this they don’t possess the road presence, are short on space and look half a segment smaller. They are therefore not able to compete in the same segment because on the top of this the cars are on the expensive side. Why would people buy a smaller car at a higher price? The matter is as simple as that really!

Issue with VW is that they get two good cars (virtus and Taigun) and keep one flagship in India (the Tiguan in this case). They keep milking the Bread and butter cars until they become boring and stale and again VW has to get the charm back. They never ride on the charm bandwagon in time. The i20n line in india starts off at 11.5 ex showroom, any turbo hatch that's half as exciting as the polo will never be 10 lakhs. Bro the boring 1.2l 3 cylinder altroz thats non turbo dct is at 13 lakhs and that's fully made in india? So how do you think a 1.2 or a 1.5, 4 cylinder turbo vw polo with the build quality and the engine refinement it has wil be at 10? May be a 1 litre version of it, but why would someone spend 12 lakhs on a 1 l turbo hatch when they get the 1l turbo Slavia or virtus at 14?

@@vasudevanvenkataraman5587 i20 N Line starts at 9.94 ex showroom with the 1.0 Turbo. It's not so farfetched to assume a Polo 1.0 Turbo would be around the same considering Taigun starts at 11.62. The Polo will be taxed at a lower rate, so already thats's slashing quite a bit. Plus the powertrain is already being used in Virtus and Taigun. They'd only have to get the bodu, and I don't think it's a stretch to assume 10L ex showroom for a Polo. GT? Yeah sure, that could be upto 15L ex showroom if they use the 1.5 TSI. They shouldn't bother with the GTI. Nobody bought one then, nobody will buy one now.

Fortuner cannot justify its 55+ lac price. That car is simply not worth that kind of money. Some people in india are dumb nuts who cannot imagine any car apart from fortuner in their bed. Fortuner should be priced around 20-23 lacs are more than that money doesn't make any sense. Its interior is old, the engine is old, the power is low, and the quality control is bullshit.
