The spr is around 5. I’d be thinking of getting it all in on the turn. This seems to me both easier and more profitable.

I love playing low suited connectors at this game. You play 6-8 ways to the flop so often. Flop the straight and quadruple up pretty easily. Or at least an open ended and they give you an amazing price. It’s stupid
@mrhumble29373 ай бұрын
Its math. The times you do hit, and get stacks is low. So needs to be deeper. For it to be +ev to play suited connectors.

Didn’t mention the very pertinent information that he was filming for a well known vlog. People always want to bluff the vlogger so they can show. I’d expect to see 78 often enough without that information. With that information getting 4 to 1? Only folding to nits.. only folding to super nits if I’m Vlogging!

Seems also on the River when the board changes that a J high would at least think a second before jamming. The insta-jam seems like a tell.
@jeremyhahn3612 Жыл бұрын
I think most Jx do bet the river. If he recognizes that we bet all boats and overpairs on the river and the fact we check shows that we ptobably have a middling value hand or A high, I definitely think this is a J more often than not.
@EllieBanks333 Жыл бұрын
I'd bet QJ or better in villains spot, but I might check back JT or worse. I think Bart has a very low opinion of 1/3 players, perhaps with some cause. But a decent player should realize hero is never checking this river with KJ+.
@digitaldavid5633 Жыл бұрын
Interesting scenario because I think in games like this, yes, Jx checks back a majority of the time, but I think it's also a case where overpairs should be comfortable jamming that river for 1:3 SPR on a low paired board. So, unless over pairs were getting trappy, I think they bet 3 streets, so a check river is more weighted toward less value and AK. Maybe that's higher-level thought over 1/3, and why Jx can jam there for value in bigger games. Overall, I agree though that the average 1/3 player isn't jamming J for value on the river when checked to. Good analysis.
@EllieBanks333 Жыл бұрын
You think HJ has much QQ+ in his range given pre-flop?
@1vailchris Жыл бұрын
Not sure why Bart or anyone else thinks Jx is checking back here. If V has AJ/KJ/QJ, his kicker is blocking some of our over-pairs to his J's, and beating some of our Jx, like JT/J9. As played, no reason for V to think hero has AA/KK/QQ/74/42 when hero checks the river. Hero induced this bluff by checking the board-pair on the end. Even if we think V has Jx, we have to check-call here, getting these odds.

That's a pretty insane bluff from villain. For 1/3 pot while blocking a ton of the weakest things hero can have, I'm pretty sure you just have to give it up. You basically only get folds (sometimes) from two combos of 56 suited and a few broadway hearts, right? He should have just jammed turn if he's going to go for the bluff on rivers anway.

Does he have J8 here? I'd have bet bigger on flop & jammed turn. It's because of the SPR. Look how awkward it got by river. Hero is simply good here on both flop & turn so often.

If you're going to call of anyway, why not just shove? There are some hands that you might get to fold that actually now beat you. They may have A6, especially A6 of hearts. Or 76, or perhaps they have a weak jack and may let it go.

@@EllieBanks333 Yes. Good point. We should bet bigger on the flop, when OOP against two opponents who flatted our pre-flop raise, with this hand, on this flop.
@EllieBanks333 Жыл бұрын
@@1vailchris I'd be interested in your thoughts about Bart's river analysis here. Obviously it turned out to be correct, with villain showing a bluff. I'm not too sure how I felt about his "all jacks check back here" idea. I do think some jacks will check behind, like JT. Some players might not go for thin value with QJ. But what does KJ lose to here?? How far down is this villain? Does he have J8 here? I would not be surprised to see J9. Finally, if the weak jacks are checking behind, are they calling a jam? Why can't hero have AJ or over-pair or a set? He opened from EP, C-bet from OOP into 2 opponents on flop & fired strong again on turn.
@1vailchris Жыл бұрын
@@EllieBanks333 I also don't understand why Bart thinks all Jx is definitely checking back here, though I could see why some weaker Jx (J7-JT) might check back, after hero takes the line he does here. Hero's line starts out looking strong, then weakens with smallish turn bet and river check. If we're V with a good Jx, what are we scared of after hero checks river? Is hero checking top boat or an over-pair, hoping to induce a bluff from Jx? Would hero think 77-TT ever bluffs when checked to? As V, our better Jx hands would have a kicker that blocks some of hero's over-pairs, so I think we can bet AJ/KJ/QJ for value here after hero checks, hoping to get called by hero's worse Jx or 77-TT, I guess because our range as V has some missed draws and worse 2P that might bet here. But if we have J7-JT, we can just check back and avoid a gross check-raise or snap call. At this stack depth, with these lines, I could see V calling a river jam from hero with J7-JT, because there are enough missed draws and some worse 2P holdings in hero's range. I could see hero getting to the river with some Ax/Kx hands that jam, hoping to fold out anything that isn't Jx, because their A or K blocks some of hero's better Jx kickers, making it more likely hero has a weaker 2P or a weaker Jx that might fold. Some opponents might be good enough (or bad enough, depending on your view) to turn TT into a bluff here. The thing about this hand is that hero's line induces V to bluff or go super-thin for value. If we're not going to jam turn or jam river from up front, then I think we have to call, even if we think V has a lot of Jx when he jams here.

I hear you on this one, Bart, but I also suspect that part of the reason you are so confident is because of sample bias. No one is going to send you a hand to analyze where they were up against KJ and got shoved on. That's just too typical. I totally agree that lots of jacks are checking back the river. I think overpairs are often playing this way in position. I think there aren't many bluffs. So I think a call for 1/3 pot is borderline, rather than a slam dunk.
