@Iraq Lobsta!! 45 I know, I've slow roasted chicken before, and it does come out tender and juicy, but there's something wrong with its texture, it threw me off. Where I come from, the chickens are smaller than the U.S, maybe because they put too much growth hormone in the chickens in the states ,and that's why they don't grow naturally, so in compromising the taste and texture of the bird.

Amani Murph that is what I ended up learning through all of it. Slow down, relax and sure as the sun will rise tomorrow everything will be OK. My kids were grown so it was just me and my dog. Every day it was like, it could be worse and for some I'm sure it is/was. As a child I would let the air out of my lungs and slowly sink to bottom of lake or pool and set on bottom. With the sun cutting through the water is was really peaceful so as adult anytime I'd get stressed I would let my mind go back to the bottom of the waters. I know it's mind over matter but for me it truly worked and now a stress free lifestyle is the natural life I live. It's a shame it's not an aid that is taught to us when we are young. It took the school of hard knocks to teach me, and today, I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for your reply and peace be with you and your loved ones.

Vertical integration in the food industry is driving farmers out of business. Not to mention the dangerous/unhealthy working and living conditions in those barns. Please don’t turn your nose up at farmers charging $15-$20/bird. That’s the actual cost to produce a good bird. I had this very conversation with my Mother earlier today. I told her that I am going to post my recipe for Crock Pot rotisserie chicken. She told me how much it cost at Costco, and I wondered why anyone would even bother cooking.
@AmaniEats6 жыл бұрын
Then I thought about it. If you want organic, free range chicken, or a special seasoning style you would need to make it yourself.

Those chickens don't see the sun or any other thing, only chickens and feed. By any measure that is a cruel existence.

I know these animal farm shots get people talking but let's stay away from the binary arguments. A chicken's brain is the size of a shelled peanut, it does not process its lifestyle with the same awareness or value as we do, and its life (on a food farm) is rather short. Projecting humanity onto an animal is not the same as treating it decently.

So what's the regular price for a rotisserie chicken in the US? In my country rotisserie chickens are sort of a frugal choice for people on a budget since they are cheap (around 4 to 5 USD tops)

It's because they lose money to make money. Like a casino with free drinks. Costco will lose money on chickens and hot dogs to make more money when people shop. A lot of people think they are saving money by buying in bulk. Some things are but others it's actually more expensive.

No big mystery. It's what they call a "loss leader", and all big stores do it. For some stores it's soda. Others it's bottled water. It can be different products at different times. Costco's loss leader happens to be chickens.

IN just the quick shot of that huge chicken warehouse in Nebraska (I can't call it a farm, since the chickens never go outside. Just in that brief shot, you can see that several chickens have been attacked by other chickens and had their feathers plucked. Also the air is so dense with pollution that it looks foggy and the worker wears a mask.

Terrible what costco has done to their chicken in Washington state; particularly the Bellingham location. We used to buy it there for years. But they changed the spicing somehow and the chicken literally keeps us up all night like we had 3 espressos. What the heck did they change or use to make the chicken inedible if you intend to sleep at all??
