No hard feelings Ben. Most Malaysians are very concerned about your journey and experience in our country. They just want to help you through your stay in Malaysia. You will be surprised if someone could just give you a ride to your house or hotel for free if you are in trouble or treat you for breakfast or lunch or dinner even if they do not know you. I'm telling you as a Malaysian and yes someone did pay for my lunch and I don't know who. Make some friends with the locals and you will know the answer.

Malaysians are taught about civic manners from home, neighbors, and school since small childhood regardless of races and religions, it's because it was started from the Muslims community a long time ago who had the best gestures..(since older times they received foreigners from China and India first time came and lived and mingled with them in Malaya@Malaysia with open hands)..

Regarding English, west coast people tend to speak better English, like in Penang, KL, or Ipoh etc. the place you went to Kelantan, less English, they may understand you, but they are rather shy to speak back. If you go to Kuching Sarawak or Sabah, they'll have decent English.

I remember the first time driving back to my hometown for Eid with my brother , we had to exit the highway back on to the main trunk road, good old Federal Route 1 because of a major crawl, my brother said it was like going into another country altogether. Life in KL , at least to me back then, was disconnected from the rest of country.

Gloria Jeans is a Sydney-Headquartered chain with 600 stores in 40 countries. Most of us in Australia are aware of some Hillsong Church ties - at least historically speaking. It is only an 'also-ran' here in Australia with most coffee lovers probably finding it a bit too average on the quality espresso scale.

Some of us are sedentary and it’s hard to clock in even 2000 steps a day. When we have the freedom to do so, don’t settle for less. 3. Take the bus to some of the other states and explore. Live like a backpacker and camp. You’ll save much more! 4 If you fancy for a hike, hollar me.

Once again, welcome back to Malaysia. A bit surprised too because your last video entered Southern Thailand. Regarding labor jobs in Malaysia.. It's true that not many Malaysians are interested in working as restaurant waiters except in most fast food restaurants, firstly, because of the salary incentive. Mamak's restaurant owners pay very low wages because of that they are more interested in hiring workers from India and placing them to live on the top floor of the restaurant. Malaysians are also not interested in working in palm oil or rubber plantations for example, or poultry farms because they are not interested in dirty and smelly work or jobs that use raw materials. Perhaps Malaysia provides many easier job opportunities with higher income. Its mission is in the E-hailing sector such as grab drivers, food delivery. Maybe they make their living connecting directly with customers on social media like you are doing. So the latest data released the number of unemployment in Malaysia is around 3.3%. Once again try to take a day or two to Melaka.

@benfishermin 3 ай бұрын
Yea I was surprised I only stayed in Thailand for 2 days, but I did really enjoy those 2 days off. I thought about traveling through thailand but decided to come back to KL and try to get in a routine for a bit. Interesting to know I never knew some mamak workers are actually living above the restaurant. That unemployment rate is definitely lower than the US!

Hello there Ben. I want to ask if you would try to visit as many SE Asian countries as possible, if not all. Subbing for your 'bad' unplanned travels, and good luck to you. Edit: yes it's somewhat like a 'lost in translation' situation and language comprehension issue between people of different nationalities regarding jokes and references sometimes. And also what I call 'foreigner freeze' where the locals may know English but when they meet an actual English speaker, they just can't compute or will instinctively reject the interaction. But they never meant harm. I'm sorry for foreign travelers but if you really want smooth communication you gotta find a professional guide or a willing local friend 😂 Also Brickfields is also known as Little India. Anyway please bring a foldable umbrella with you at all times. Take care 😊 Edit2: the sweet curry thing... I want to say it's not sugar, but sometimes yes it is sugar. But sometimes it's also just the (sweet lol) spice. Star anise and cinnamon, amongst other stuff.

About some people took it literally the Borneo or KL video, I would say some people lack sense of humour or critical thinking. It isn’t unusual here that sometimes a straightforward joke can become polemic and viral, especially it deals with political topic. It can exacerbate further by their jingoistic attitude. The good side is they try to be nice and helpful to the foreigners (maybe in a wrong way).

So I got to get a cardio workout by walking.

Yea and actually it’s only rm2 if going in the morning, to me that’s crazy, usually gym prices are so inflated, especially for a daily pass. Even rm7 is quite good too

During the british's colonialism, the locals used to say that only mad dogs and englishmen go outdoor in the afternoon heat. The saying got picked up by the british then.

Nothing too crazy, just some mild turbulence, but some people on the plane do freak out over it still, I try to just stay calm since it’s such a small % that something really bad will happen

You should not go to Thailand. Every time you take a few days off. Ganja binge? You should go to the Philippines to grow your subs. Stay longer to build subs. ESL people won't get the subtleties of your humor. Things are literal. Or it could be that we are so used to you showing up in a new city every day that they were looking forward to Borneo.😂 Oriental Kopi is one of my favs. I'm not sure it fits your diet. You can probably eat the Hainanese chicken rice (poached chicken, eat a little rice as it is cooked in the chicken broth). Dip in ginger sauce or the chili, not the sweet soy. For hotpot, go to Tokyo Street in Pavilion mall. Suki-ya, AYCE for less than $10. Fresh meats and veg. Can you eat dumplings? Ho Min San in Pavilion basement has good fried soup dumplings. Ask for chili or vinegar, not soy dipping. Or Zok noodles. Suria is not my favorite for food or shopping. Don't eat at Little Penang, I did, and it wasn't that good.

I love Thailand, I go there when I need a break typically as I can get burnt out doing videos every day. There's nothing wrong with taking a few days off sometimes after weeks of daily videos. I like to relax there, eat a bunch, enjoy the cannabis, it's really a nice way to enjoy some time off. The Philippines is tempting for sure, I'm gonna go at some point, I know you get a bit less for the money (especially with accommodations) but it could pay off for the sake of KZbin. I think India too could be quite interesting and nice to make content. At first I wasn't so interested in India but after doing more research and discovering just how many different places there are to go, and how big the country is, I'm quite interested. Nice I gotta check the hotpot place, I want to make a video on that. Do they have clear broth soup at Suki-ya (without soy or fermented bean paste etc inside) and meats that aren't marinated?

@@benfishermin India is a wonderful country with lots to see. But, it is a place that has both a lot of pros with just as many cons. We went once and my wife refuses to go back. I loved it and want to go back and spend more time there...😂 It isn't as clean. Seems like animals and humans live equally together. And you will get Delhi belly. Antibiotics work well. The food will probably agree with your stomach. Hotpot had different broths. One was kinda clear. Not sure what they season it with but you can just cook in it and don't have to intake a lot. Meats were not marinated.

Thanks a lot, I have some intense gut imbalance and leaky gut issue, so I mostly only eat meat and veggies for now or I have some rough symptoms. Just avoiding gluten shouldn’t be too bad for you here, mostly avoiding fried foods, bread. MSG I’d say you’ll really have to ask at every restaurant because I’m not sure here how often it’s used 🤔

KLCC Park is also my favorite. When I was a college student in KL back in the mid 2000s, I often took the train to KLCC during the weekends just to sit by the pool and watch the water fountain and the world going by, all by myself. I love sitting there with a cup of coffee, it's just very nice. You might also wanna check out Perdana Lake Park. I think you've been there before also, but yes it's also a very nice place to spend the afternoon at. You can also try and check out University of Malaya, my Alma Mater. You can take a nice walk around the main parts of the university and it will be quite fun. The trees, the buildings, the history, the pond, the people...
