Ben, some tip; never compare Thai durians to a Malaysian durians... Malaysians are 'vehemently' proud of their durians 😅. Try the Musang King, it's the premium of Malaysian durian, not affordable for the average Malaysians. The Musang King is so popular regionally that the Thais has started planting them.

Durian fruit, locally or wild, is very costly because of the difficulty to harvest and transport. The cultivation from durian seed will vary from its parents, so the only viable way to cultivate durian is from grafting. Musang King is the first durian to be genome sequenced, so it means only the certified grafted plant can be sold as Musang King after rigorous test, which is conducted by FAMA Malaysia. The Musang King can be sold at standard high prices because of certification, which helped the farmers to have more stable income to offset the cost incurred during early stage. FAMA Malaysia have worked together with many ASEAN countries to plant Musang King at their respective countries to expand the market of durian, so the only difference of tastes of Musang King on any countries is the way they harvest the fruit. The ripe durian fruit usually dropped by itself, so we are assured to get matured taste from the fruit. But durian fruit have a short 'rich-taste window', from its 1st hour of drop and gradually loss of 'flower' aroma up to 48 hours. After 48 hours, a lot of aroma and taste of durian fruit will be lost, which leave a lot of bitter taste. That's why a lot of durian addict usually goes to the plantation directly to eat fresh-dropped durian fruit. In Thailand, they usually carter for overseas countries, which means it's impossible to deliver those durians within the 'window'. So to ensure constant taste of all exported durians, the durian fruit usually cut off from the tree without waiting it to be dropped. The fruit is harvested weeks before the ripe period. The durian fruit is expected to be matured during the transportation period. The exported durian fruit is usually the variety with least cost to farm, so the best Thailand's variety are rare to be found outside Thailand. In Malaysia, the usual approach is used; wait the fruit to dropped by itself. The farmers usually hanged nets about 3-4 meters height around the durian tree to catch all the dropped fruit. During the durian season, the fruit will be picked up from the net every 3 hours to not leave any fruit expired before the window period. The fruit will be sold immediately to the local market or nearby town within hours. Because of time-constraint, this will be very costly for the farmers. That's why the only viable fruit to be harvested this way is the high prices durian variety, such as Musang King. To export the Musang King to overseas, primarily China, the fruits will be flash froze to captured any aroma and taste within the fruits. The high price of Musang King can coup the cost of this process

Malaysians like extra ripe Durians but the Thais generally like almost unripe Durians. The vendors will generally push for the more expensive Durians like Musang king or Black thorn . They are bitter sweet durian really meant for locals with acquired developed palate. If you're not used to these or don't have a developed palate its better to try milder sweet Durians like red prawn or D24 just ask them for the sweet varieties. They are cheaper too.

Those who don't like Malaysia with whatever reasons like some comments above, you are free to visit other South East Asian countries. Of course if you carry Israel passports, the Malaysia immigration officers have rights to refuse the entry, but many dualcitizenship pasport holders can use any other than Israel passports, and this happened in the past that these individuals ( Israel citizens) were sent to assasinated or created chaos in Malaysia, fortunately one of them was caught few months ago.

thai durians are plucked frm the trees while malaysian ones are naturally ripe n fall to the ground then collected n sell.. that’s why malaysian durians are soft n creamy while the thai ones the flesh are slightly harder.. thais use this method so that the shelf life is longer as they export a lot overseas.. malaysia old school.. we like naturally ripe n eat on the spot wearing helmet (so will protect our heads if durian fall on us while eating..) 😅😅 any massage parlours with women fronting it def hv ‘happy ending’ service… the legit one is where the masseurs are blind men… masseuse will of cos offer additional service.., 🤣🤣🤣… most masseuse there r vietnamese… bro… one of the nasi kandar joint shd take u as their joint ambassador.. or at least sponsor u for promoting them… if they watch ur video promoting n rating their food…😂

You might find Malaysian durian extremely strong in taste because Thailand doesn't wait for their Durian to fell naturally, Malaysian durian fell naturally so its ripe and the texture is a lot softer, Thailand durian isn't they are actually unripe which why the texture is abit crunchy, but yah you can actually start a war with the Thai and Malay about durian if you compare it because Malaysian would make fun of Thailand for unripe durian and Thais will make fun of Malaysian saying the durian is over ripe and has lost its texture, yes this is a common war for the durian lover and yes you can actually start a war if you say you prefer Thai durian in front of Malaysian.

Fights are not common in these areas in Malaysia. Drug and alcohol problems like in Thailand where fights happen all of the time, Mostly from the British tourists. I have seen maybe a few arguments over the years here but in Thailand it's everyday with violence. Alcohol, drugs and the sex industry create many social problems. Thankfully those issues are not really a thing in Malaysia.

I am against street busking, it should be banned. DBKL should ban all street busking in Kuala Lumpur. It is an eye sore to Malaysia tourism industry, no law and order. 1. Street busking is disrupting to pedestrian traffic flow. 2. It is noisy to the neighbouring businesses. There are already live bands in pubs and concerts, we do not need these nuisances. Nevertheless, there should be a place for everything. Hope DBKL can provide a place for that, perhaps a busking open theater which we have but not utilised. Having said that, busking in shopping malls are allowed with the management consent and with limits on the volume. Street busking is NOT a Malaysia culture.
