In KL at the moment, and after seeing your video I walked to Lot10 for sushi. Yep, you were right. It was good, prices so-so. I will be going back. BTW, I was one of your original 100 subs when I was in Bali. You're doing great. Keep up the good work. I'm excited to be going to Japan next week for a three week tour. Then off to Bali, where I spend my winters.

I have found myself in the same position of feeling stuck and in limbo after my husband's death. I gotta make some huge decisions on my own now. I must leave Australia, but where will I end up? I don't really want to go back to Singapore... :/ I don't want to live in a bubble. This vlog has given me some inspiration. Let's live this life our way. This is not our home, its a place for discovery.

Lols, our monkeys are the cheekiest, as a Malaysian, I will say if you nag them back- they will back off, they can be negotiated with and they are more scared of us then we are on them- stand your ground, be calm but give them some play scolding (ask a local Auntie how to do that). I've play scolded many things away from monkeys. They smell fear but if youre not afraid of them, they leave ya alone.

Why are you staying at Kozi Square? It's next to the hospital and so more convenient for people planning to go there. Ought to have stay downtown. And there are many self service laundry shops in the city.

I just spent five days in Jakarta and I miss it so much. Jakarta is more like Mumbai, nothing like Bangkok or KL. I walked from mid-South to North of Jakarta in one day, took me around seven hours. It was an absolutely crazy walk. I saw everything, and I mean everything during that walk. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing so, the city is not designed for walking, it's extremely discouraging, very unsafe to walk. But the city itself, one of the safest in the world, no crime. People are some of the best I've ever come across. I can't tell you how many times I stopped for a chat with locals, no agenda, they were just interested. North of the city is extremely poor, I ended up in the slums where I met some of the best people on earth. Kids ran up to me for cuddles. Random men shook hands with me. For a solo traveller, I never felt alone, or ever looked over my shoulder. I probably saw five Western tourists in five days, which was a good change, made the experience so authentic. I terms of food, probably the best city on earth. I know, big statement. But I'm lucky because I've got a very obsessive friend in London, who's from Jakarta, controlling me via WhatsApp, sending me to the best local joints. If you know where to stay in Jakarta, every night is a festival. Many thanks Riyan, you've made my Jakarta experience a very magical one. Tomorrow I'm leaving Lombok and returning to Jakarta, and I can't wait. Another thing about Jakarta, the weather, it was so good. Unlike KL, where you'll need a shower every time you go for a walk, Jakarta had the perfect weather. Don't get me started on the coffee, just wow!

As a Chinese from china who have lived in Malaysia for more than 4 years, I definitely experienced racism multiple times. Like people will purposely ask me how I think about Malaysia, but if I mention pros and cons of Malaysia, some told me that well you can always go back to your own country, in my face, TWICE. So just being honest and not trying to sugar coat anything, when you are trying to work here and merge in, you better have a strong heart 😅

Singapore has equality and freedom. Malaysia has racist and homophobic laws. I would rather stay in a shoe box apartment in Singapore than the biggest mansion in Malaysia any day. That’s just my opinion though. I hope I’m allowed to have one here.

All in all, i think the tourists mostly visited only famous places (some are overrated) rather than the real hidden gems of Malaysia. I hardly hear they visit places in Perlis, Perak, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. They are missing out so much.

The Italian lady living in Bangkok probably doesn't interact much with Malaysians. That's why she thought we Malaysians don't speak fluent English. I am a Malaysian. I speak fluent English. And there are million other Malaysians that speaks better English. She should interact more with people, I guess.

Malaysia is best appreciated when you have least expectation, you'll be disappointed when you have high expectations. Because Malaysia is not the bombastic kind of country, with wild sights and taste that explodes your senses. It shines when you can start to appreciate subtle nuances and diverse choices that is alive in the people's everyday living.

I just went to hospital today and come across few smiling faces while walking to my car parked at 4th floor and I smile back to them. They are local Malay ladies, and I feel so grateful for my fellow Malaysians i.e their generous smile and cheerful outlook in life ...that's us Malaysia..we can smile at strangers for no reason...that's not odd in any way..Islam said smiling is an act of sedekah( charity).

Racism based on appearance, is more in countries with subsidized*housing ( e.g. UK, Australia ), @ working-class level ; minorities compete for * so working-class majority is hostile toward minority, middle class majority is far less hostile, & can be even friendly. UK tv reported pakis get spit on, bricks thrown through their * glass windows. Msia has no *, so no hostility toward foreigner esp those who buy M$.
